    FORUM BEING FIXED

So I'm the only one having the weird de-synced forum time issue? I've kept an eye on it, and it seems that with every passing hour, the forum time skips a couple of minutes ahead of the real time. It's now 2:41 AM for me, and forum time says 3:26 AM.

    FORUM BEING FIXED

Errr...yah. Timezones differ in hours' date=' not minutes, so it's impossible this could be caused by a faulty timezone setting. Obviously, changing my timezone (which was already set to the right one) didn't help a single bit. When I made that post, the forum time was about 20-21 minutes ahead of my time. Now it seems to be about 28 minutes ahead. -edit: here, let me make it more clear to you: [img']http://i45.tinypic.com/2w6x5zs.png

The forum time is pretty messed up, by the way. It's 5 PM here now, and the forum says it's 5:21 PM.

Cant Play With Steam Overlay!, HELP

Okay, home from work, and back to my near 35th hour of troubleshooting day z :-/ I have deleted BOTH Dayz Folders in my Arma 2 OA, and Arma 2 Folder. And by " Manual" Install do you mean NOT using six launcher / updater to install the game?. Should i download and transfer all the files manually?. As far as I know, you don't need any DayZ files in the regular ArmA 2 folder, just in the "arma 2 operation arrowhead\@dayz\addons" folder. -edit: Yes, I'm positive you do not have to put any DayZ files in your regular Arma 2 folder. This is probably the reason why both games are launching when you pick the "Launch Combined Operations" option. And yes, do NOT use Six Launcher or any other automatic updater. Download all the mod files manually, and copy-paste them into the "arma 2 operation arrowhead\@dayz\addons" folder. You can delete the old files first, or let them be and allow Windows to replace them with the files you've just downloaded.
  6. This is what I use to launch DayZ in Steam, added as a non-Steam shortcut: Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;Expansion;ca;@dayz" -nosplash Start in: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\"
  7. I don't know how many servers you guys have tried, but make sure you're not trying to connect to a server with an older beta version. With all the recent updates and beta updates, some servers might not have the right versions yet. -edit: you can check which beta version a server is running in the bottom right corner of the server-information part when you've selected a server within the in-game server browser.

Cant Play With Steam Overlay!, HELP

Weird, if you have followed the directions on setting up the non-Steam shortcut properly, it should work. Since you're getting some Bad Version and/or errors about files missing, I'd recommend to re-download and replace all 1.7.1.5 DayZ files manually, and install the latest beta patch (delete the "beta" folder within "Arma 2 operation arrowhead/Extenstion" first, then install the 93965 beta version). When there's a new version of DayZ, I always re-download all mod-files even if some of them weren't affected by the update and I always use the "latest torrent" for that, found here. I then always copy paste the files from the downloaded torrent into the folder with the old mod-files and when prompted, let Windows replace them all.
  9. Just delete the "beta" folder from the "arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion" folder, and install the latest patch. Has always worked flawlessly for me. :) I never really understood the warning about not being able to uninstall the beta separately anyway.

I love your open mind approach there.

    * [FIXED] Poor performance caused by infected search behavior (MAJOR performance increase during closed testing) Is this the bug that was causing a drastic drop in FPS after a couple of minutes of playing?

Cant Play With Steam Overlay!, HELP

The following guide has helped me setting it up for Steam within two minutes. I've got Combined Operations on Steam, but I'm pretty sure this will also work when you've got ArmA II and OA separately: 1.Make a new non-steam shortcut, choose Browse then browse to your operation arrowhead directory, go into expansion then go into beta. Click on ArmA2OA.exe in that folder and choose Open. The box will close so then choose Add Selected Programs button in the steam add programs box. 2.Find the shortcut you just made in your Steam library, right click and choose properties. 3.Delete the target line. 4.Rename the steam shortcut whatever you want. 5.Now edit the following text in notepad or something similar to include your paths. (If you have both Arrowhead and both ArmA2 on Steam you won't need to edit the paths, assuming you have kept the default installation location for Steam and run a 64bit OS.) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;Expansion;ca;@dayz" -nosplash Once you're done making sure that the pathways are correct you paste the code above into the target line in the Steam options of the shortcut, all of it, including the quotations. Now delete the "Start In"-line and replace it with the code below. Edit this if you have a different installation location. "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\" Run the game from your new non-steam game shortcut. Source: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_install_DayZ#Make_a_shortcut_to_launch_ARMA2_Beta_with_Steam_Overlay_.28Optional.29 -edit: also, make sure you've got the Beta set up properly: Go to the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory and right-click -> edit on .cmd file "_runA2CO_beta.cmd". Search for ":run" near the end of the file. Add ";@dayz" without quotes to "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca".

Severe Frame rate issue in 1.7.1.4

I've noticed the same thing on my machine. When I enter a server, FPS is excellent, but a few minutes into the game it starts dropping drastically. About five minutes later it has dropped to like 5 FPS and continues to stick at that. Specs: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition @ 3.2 Ghz HD5850 Toxic 1GB @ 820/1160 (slightly overclocked) 8GB DDR3 SDRAM 2 x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200 RPM Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, SP1
  17. I'm currently running DayZ with just ArmA:CO (ergo: PMC & BAF lite), but I've been wondering for some time which textures exactly are affected by the Private Military Company and British Armed Forces DLC. I'm looking for specifics on this question, so anyone who knows which textures will improve with these DLC packs is free to comment on it. I already know that the player texture is from PMC, but I'm pretty sure there's more stuff that will look better when having these DLC packs. I'm thinking of buildings, weapons, terrain, flora & fauna, etcetera. Maybe people know of other benefits to having these DLC packs? Or does anyone know of a list being available where differences are compared/pointed out? In reference to this, I'd also like to know if there's a performance-hit when using the DLC, since they contain higher quality textures, or is this negligible? I'm running DayZ on fairly high settings at about 40-50 FPS, at the moment. Maybe 30 FPS in (big) towns. So to summarize: 1) Which in-game stuff is affected by either one of the DLC packs? 2) Does it hurt performance, and if yes, to which degree? Oh, and I totally posted this in the wrong section. :dodgy: Could someone move this to General Discussion, please?

    1.7.1 was hard, but playable...

This is the only correct response, in my opinion.
