No gun at respawn? Impossible for beginners

Personally, I'm happy with it how it is. Watching videos of the older DayZ where you start with a makarov and the other stuff, it seemed too easy. This gives more of a challenge, and I like spawning without a weapon.

No gun at respawn? Impossible for beginners

Funny, I just started 2-3 days ago and each character lasts an hour or more. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=18630

    Lack of an Authentic World

I don't know much about guns and their origins, same with the vehicles, but I'll assume you do. Good find.
  4. I'll be glad to help you out, even though I'm a noob too. I'm not always the most stealthy (I try to be, but patience isn't my strong point so occasionally I'll crouch run and screw myself over) but I somewhat understand how to get away from them. XD Either way, if you need any help, just PM me on here. Also, if you're going to die anyway, head to Elektro/Cherno if it's not too far. No, it's not the safest, but the supermarkets should provide you with food and water/soda.
  5. I think blood bags are only found in hospitals and medical tents. Apparently there's a chance for morphine to spawn in residential areas, although it's very low. Or so I heard. Bandages and painkillers are basically everywhere.
  6. It really is a challenge... First you have to disconnect, then you have to find a server, and then connect, get stuff, and then disconnect, find another server, and then do whatever you want. In all seriousness, I agree with you. I don't see why he claims that's a challenge... I always join the near full 50 player max servers, making it tougher to loot. Also, OP, you say you're going to leave, yet, as others have stated, you're still watching this post and replying. If you want to leave, just do it. I don't see why you'd still be replying....

    Dayz for Arma newcomer?

Do the tutorials and you should get the basic controls just fine.

    Introduction to DayZ (article)

Hmm, I might have to take you up on that offer. Although, I do like just going around by myself, setting my objectives, etc. Maybe, I'll think about it. XD

New to the game and forum (hello)

Hey, welcome =p. Any questions, you can ask me (but I'm new, so my knowledge is probably 30% of what the long time players know.) XD Anyway, good luck out there in Chernarus.

    DayZ Experiences: Day 3

So, probably gonna do this every time something interesting, imo, happens. I type them like stories, so most of the time, it'll be a giant wall of text. Freshly spawned in Kamenka, I cut through the forest to the barn north of Komarovo. A zombie aggro's me right as I make it to the barn. I run inside, and as I turn, I see a fellow survivor. He's just sitting there, staring at me. I go to the floor opposite of him and find a hatchet, and I dispose of the zombie. We stare at each other for a bit, each making sure the other is friendly. Eventually, I leave first. I head back to Komarovo, and see a survivor sprint to the dock warehouse type thing. I get close and ask over mic "Friendly? Need help?" I receive no response, and eventually he leaves. I start heading to the warehouse when another survivor sprints by with a bunch of zombies, he's unarmed. I tell him "Keep going upstairs, they're chasing you. I'll kill them." So, I pick them off one by one as he lures them. When I get to the top, he keeps backing away from me. I try to tell him I'm friendly and not going to hurt him, but he continues to back up. I let him know that I found another hatchet downstairs and told him to go get it. As I'm about to leave, I see a horde of zombies run into the warehouse. Fuck, he made too much noise. I go and kill them once more and then I start looting the warehouse (he left.) Once I reach the top, I see that StrawCrow (the survivor who lured the zombies) just met another survivor (I think his name was Miguel Paro) anyway, StrawCrow left, and I approached Miguel and asked if he was friendly. I saw he was unarmed, and a few zombies tried to attack him. I killed them. As I started to head to Balota and see he starts to follow me. We travel together, me talking, him just following. We meet a few survivors along the way and we just pass by. We go into Cherno and go to the supermarket. We start looting, but I had to go to the bathroom. I ask my little brother to make sure that no one approaches and that Miguel is friendly. I come back, and see Miguel dead. I'm horrified. This person, who I traveled with, dead because of my little brother. I try to ignore it and say "Well, shit happens. Time to move on" but I keep glancing at my "Murders: 1" and feel horrible. I continue to prone through Cherno but got lost. I check the map and try to hide towards the hospital. As I'm passing through the Cherno park-like place, I see a name flash. It was yellow in color, not sure what that meant, and it said "Unknown (__)" with something in the parenthesis.I turn on mic and say "Are you friendly? Don't shoot" I hit C so I can stand up and run if need be. As soon as I stand, I hear a gunshot. I look to the right. Fuck, my legs broken. Another 2 gunshots. I'm dead. I lay there, glad to be rid of my murder, but sad to lose all my loot. Finally had found the hunting knife that I needed. I suppose it's karma, for murdering that innocent person. Then again, if he stuck with me, I assume we'd both be dead anyway... Either way, I'm going to make sure that whoever I meet up with next doesn't end up with the same fate as Miguel.

How do you play this omg ? O.o

That happened to me when I didn't have the ArmA 2 beta patch. You can download it at http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

    Morphine location?

If I got my location correct, I'm near Solnichniy in some firehouse looking thing. Brick building with 2 large rooms on both ends, can only access the bottom floor. A zombie just broke my leg. Is there anywhere nearby where I can find morphine?
  13. TheFired3mon

    Morphine location?

Well, shit. Thanks guys XD. I just gotta hope during my long journey that I find some more Lee Enfield ammo. Due to the fact that it's out, and I only have a revolver with one spare clip. I'm going to take my chances at Berezino, not looking forward to heading to Cherno or Elektro basically defenseless.

    DayZ Experiences: Day 2

Note: Just like in my first DayZ post, this is quite a long tale from a newb. I just got the game, and I see so many people complaining about it's tough, too many bandits, etc. I had some good experiences, so I wanted to share them, but when I'm typing it up, I get into a sort-of "story mode" where I tell it in detail and end up making it very long and boring. I apologize in advance for the giant wall of text XD. So, my second day of playing DayZ. I just spawned at Krutoy Cap. I decide to head for the nearest barn on the map, and then after the barn head to the nearby deer stand. As I'm sneaking up to the barn, I notice a fellow survivor to my right. He must have just seen me too. We both stop and look at each other. Then, as I ask if he's friendly, I throw a can by mistake and get seen by the zombie as I stand up. At this point I'm thinking, "That other guy is going to kill me if the zombies don't. I better run to the barn." Luckily, there is a hatchet the first place I check. I kill the zombies, and get up the stairs and wait for the other survivor. He comes in, so I ask if he's friendly. No response. I see that he has a hatchet too. A few zombies follow him in, and he kills them. I start crouch-walking down the stairs keeping my eye on him. He's watching me too. I keep turning mic on and asking if he's friendly. I head to the other side of the barn and find a shotgun. Finally, he tells me "Yeah I'm friendly. Sorry, I kept typing in the green one" or something like that. We both loot the place together, so as we part ways, I tell him "Have a good one man. See ya. Good luck." As I'm leaving, I see him in the distance, but I also see another survivor that has a gun. A little later, while I'm still crawling away from the barn, I hear a gunshot. I look around, still seeing that Leo (my friend from the barn) is ok, and I see the new survivor crawling. I ignore it and once I get into the forest, I hear another gunshot. I look over to where I thought I last seen Leo, and I see a body laying there. His death message hasn't popped up, so I figure he's injured. I head over to the body to find out that it's a zombie. Now to skip ahead. I headed to a small village (the houses between the Krutoy Cap and Solnichniy village) and as I'm running from the zombies, I see the death message "Leo has been killed." I start to wonder, what happened to him? Did that other survivor kill him? Was it zombies? I feel somewhat guilty. Maybe if we traveled together, he would've lived. After getting away from the zombies, I make it into one of the nearby houses. Getting close to dying of hunger and thirst, I close the door and sit for a moment. I look down, and see exactly what I needed. In the house, I found a few cans of soda, a water bottle, some bandages, and a can of food. Now, next time I log on, it'll be to get more ammo for my Winchester, and to find a secondary weapon. As I said in my first post, this game really does make you feel something. Maybe not when you're the "HURR DURR SHOOT EVERYTHING THAT MOVES" type of person, but I know for sure I felt fear when I first saw Leo, joy when I saw he got out without a problem, and guilt when he died. All due to the fact that he didn't attack me with that hatchet.

    Is anyone friendly anymore?

Ouch man, sucks =/ if you do decide to choose to shoot first, try not to shoot me if we ever meet in game XD.

    Where to find guns

I use http://www.teamfackin.com/moocow/dayz/map/ and I get all my guns from barns and deer stands. Deer stands are a bit more rare to have weapons due to people looting them. Each barn I've checked though, I've gotten a Winchester, a shotgun, and a hatchet. I choose the Winchester each time though XD. Maybe the map above is better, maybe not. I'll have to check it out.
  18. TheFired3mon

    Is anyone friendly anymore?

I'm friendly. I met another friendly player too. I'm not sure how different he would've been if he had a gun, but when we both had a hatchet, he was friendly. Try to stay strong. Be friendly, but be VERY cautious. If you see someone, get back, maybe get some cover, but stay nearby. Then ask over direct comm using voice or chat if they're friendly. And to add to what I said about caution, bandits will use the "Oh yeah I'm friendly" tactic before shooting you.
  19. That's amazing. XD One thing I have to say... "I want to ride my bicycle" And now I have to go listen to "Bicycle Race" by Queen. =p
  20. it's kinda hard to go undetected by zombies. It could be because I'm new and haven't played much, but it's a bit tough. I was crouch walking, and a zombie about 40m away or more spotted me and chased after me. No big deal, I finally got my hands on a gun prior to this. So I start crouch running into the woods so I won't alert any zombies with my gunshot. When I turn around, I find that 4 zombies joined the original one. I can guarantee they were further off than the original one, I scouted out the town before going anywhere near it. And, even earlier, I couldn't even get into one town. I'd end up taking aggro from at least one zombie in each town, even if I'm prone the whole time and keeping my distance. Can anyone give me any tips or is there really nothing I can do?

banned from tx11 randomly while driving

I like how the title says "Randomly" yet the first sentence is "I'm sure I got banned because I dropped the N-bomb" (Had to fix the sentence, saying this in advance because I have a feeling someone is going to say, "No, he said it like _____") XD

    What you love (positive only)

So far I love all of it except for the zombie's new AI issues, which I think Rocket is going to fix soon. Otherwise, everything is badass. ^^
