I've quit until 1.7.2.5 just because of the artifacting that I can't fix by flushing, changing video settings, etc. My friends and I are all trapped at the NWA, unable to see XD. -
It's all based on personal preference. I prefer M variant weapons, my friend prefers the AK variants. Currently loving my M4A1 CCO.

Do you hunt a particular type of player?

I don't "hunt players." If I see another armed person, I will most likely shoot. Unarmed players, no. The closest thing to hunting was when I was playing on a night server and someone in Elektro was throwing flares all over the place as I was leaving. He went onto the hospital (I should also add that he had an Enfield, so he wasn't unarmed), I took a shot, he bandaged and then d/ced. Came back a few minutes later and I hit him again. He then d/ced and didn't come back. So I suppose people who make themselves a target by throwing flares all over the place on a night server... Might make me seem like a dick, but oh well. XD -
Weapons and backpacks don't affect running speed. I'm fairly sure it's based on your friends lag. My friend was running EXTREMELY slow a few days ago. Then we realized his graphics somehow got on "High" once he turned it to "Low" (I think) he was running about the same speed as us. EDIT: See video here. About 1 minute in he shows a backpack-less and unarmed survivor running the same distance as someone with a gun and Coyote pack.

Nice story! XP And to your temperature question: I'm not sure if the icon does work. If it does, it'll go from it's default color, to pink, to red. Yesterday, my friends were in the rain for a while before I logged in. I asked their temperatures and one stated red, the other 2 stated pink. I haven't gotten that low, so I can't verify. I'm just speaking from what I've heard. -
Because you need both ArmA 2 and OA to run it...? EDIT: Okay, what I said at first sounded like I was being an asshole. You must have both ArmA 2 and ArmA 2 OA. You have to right click OA and run it as Combined Ops (do this once you've ran ArmA 2 and OA at least once) and, if you have the beta patch and DayZ files applied, you can play DayZ. I may have left out some things, but there's tutorials elsewhere.

A hatchet is still a threat. Killed a guy who had an M4A1 CCO and M1911 using only a hatchet last night and won. Enjoying my new NVG's and GPS. Edit: Also, was a fresh spawn. I was in game for ~20 minutes before my encounter. I only had the hatchet, some food, and a couple sodas. Now I'm stocked on med supplies, tools, food, water/soda, and a better form of self defense. So, even freshly spawned characters can fuck up a geared up player.

I did that to my friend before.. He passed out, so I carried him all the way from Berezino to Black Lake. He kept asking me to put him down. XD

Yeah, zig zagging probably helped. I've always heard it called "Running serpentine." Since you aren't moving in a straight line, it's much harder for you to be hit. -

Just killed a guy using a hatchet (just spawned) and hit the motherload. NVG, GPS, M4A1 CCO, Coyote Pack, food, med supplies, drinks, all the tools (excluding the Range Finder), binoculars. Pretty damn happy, especially after I just spawned. Anyway, on to the question. What snipers can the NVGs be used with? From what I hear, the DMR can be used with them, but the DayZ wiki appears to have taken that info off (or the info is outdated). What sniper rifles can be used alongside the NVGs? Noob question, I know. But these are my first pair and I'd rather get some fun out of them before I die XD.

Yeah I know! I told my friends I was just gonna fuck around and I ran through Cherno with my axe while saying over VOIP "Hatchet man's gonna getcha!" And luckily enough, as I was looting a building, I heard footsteps below me. He climbed up the stairs and I killed him, with him saying "The fuck was that for?" to which I responded "Hatchet man gotcha." I blame him though, He missed every shot with the M1911 and we were in a stairwell. Made my day. -

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update

I'd say the update is good. Ghillie suits seem to be working correctly, as I haven't taken mine off since getting it. The only problem I'd say is the graphical problems/screen tearing caused by barbed wire/ambient barbed wire. From what I've read though, the screen tearing is from the ArmA beta patch. Either way, good job Rocket. Keep it up. -
For the millionth time magazines are NOT clips!

I used to call them clips, knowing that they were magazines. Occasionally I'll slip up and tell my friends "Hey, there's a gun with 2 clips here," instead of "Hey, there's a gun with 2 mags here." -
If you're really doing it only for the reason you stated, then I'm fine with it. Although, you say you kill them after teleporting them to you... But I thought the typical script kiddie had his god mode on constantly.

Note: Copied this post from Ramirez77 , because it was good. Filled in with what I would do You - Him Unarmed - Unarmed: Maybe share supplies/trade. If I have excess food and no water, I'll see if I can give him some food for water. Or if I'm set on both and he's hungry or thirsty, I'll share. Armed - Unarmed: Let him go on his way, maybe same as above. Unarmed - Armed: Keep at a distance. If we're close and I've been spotted, I'll try shouting friendly, expecting to be killed. Armed - Armed: Evaluate my chances. What gun does he have? What's the distance? Etc. Shoot or run, depending on how good my chance of killing him is. -

Is it just me, or is the current beta making it basically impossible to join any servers? My friends and I updated our beta versions and cannot connect to any of the servers running the same version. We get stuck at the "Waiting for host" or "Waiting for character to create" or, occasionally, one of us will get in and then when the others try to join, it says "Connecting Failed" Please and thank you for any answers. -TheFired3mon
