- Game purchase only? (Guild Wars stylez) - Minecraft monetization model: Commit to payment during Alpha/Beta/Get Full version when its done. After release pay higher price for full version. - Studio / fixed developer team (as is now) - Both but be more stringent on definition of official servers, NO fragmentation - Kickstarter only if no other payment model is of interest - Steam Greenlight!

To the Devs/ Duping Glitch in 1.7.2.3
Lukio (DayZ) replied to sempifer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's the point of a bug tracker that is open for the public. Like this everyone who is currently playing the alpha version is aware of bugs already brought to the attention of the devs. Elsewise we would have 100+ posts in the forums reiterating the same bug, 1000s of PMs to the devs, 10'000s of emails etc. which makes it impossible tor track bugs in a correct manner. -

Self-Administered Blood Transfusions
Lukio (DayZ) replied to meestersquishy's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Nope. On the contrary, I'd actually like to have Morphine only administered by another player as well. -
LFM cherno raid (need achieve and 395 ilvl)
Lukio (DayZ) replied to outlawxxable's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah its totally like WoW. Soon we get Dogs as pets, so basically everyone plays a Huntard. You are absolutely right. Bandits are Orcs and Survivors are shiny knights from Lordaeron. Rocket is our Paladin! -
Will my comp run DayZ/Arma2?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to xxutangxx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As usual, try the Can you run it website, its pretty accurate imo. -
So explain something to me
Lukio (DayZ) replied to HamTheBacon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you play on a server that often has long phases of yellow or red chain links, then I think its advisable to wait about 5 - 10 minutes between going to logout place and actually logging out, just to be safe that your character is stored properly. -
Is losing everything... Enough?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Deuzerre's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah a death timer per se isn't really good at creating emotions except indicating its time to take a bio break or grab a pizza, I acknowledge that. What I am missing is feeling connected enough to your character to actually be bothered by seeing it die. This is not an easy task to accomplish, maybe rolling his "diary" (when something like this gets introduced) would be something interesting, some kind of reflexion about the past of your character that just died, of the events that occurred during the survival attempt. -
6 months in Alpha state....
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Sputnik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As long as lots of underlying logic, core mechanics and frameworks are missing it won't go into beta. -
Is losing everything... Enough?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Deuzerre's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not sure if thats what Rocket was talking about, its was more along the lines that skills that the player has should transfer to abilities in the game i.e as in navigating by the stars in RL is possible in the game as well. Anyway - Dying does not have many consequences except loosing gear, sometimes it reminds me of Everquest where you just do a corpse run. Maybe its the issue that players aren't too attached to their equipment anyway so loosing it in the event of death just is a small bump, nothing to be sad or grieve about. Looking about how emotional gameplay sometimes can be its funny that death is completely disconnected. -
Is losing everything... Enough?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Deuzerre's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This has bugged me as well. Currently death is not grave / meaningful at all. That is why I suggested that Death should have more meaning to it. Unfortunately it seems no one understood what I meant, everybody seems to think that just seeing the "You are dead" screen and clicking on Respawn is fine. Some kind of camera slowly zooming out from your character while you are being eaten up by infected or just laying there in a puddle of blood after falling off a roof would be pretty awesome. -

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update
Lukio (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Thanks once again for the commitment to the community, the communication and the hard work you are putting into this! It looks like I'll be having some time to play on 1.7.2.3 on the weekend, just hoping that with all the patching and updating the mists of confusion now are going be able to settle a bit.. Although I think its awesome that the fans/community can engage this early with DayZ, I'm not sure if this is beneficial for such frequent updates.Maybe something like a -stable and -test release would make sense. I'm sure there there are other & better ways to handle this as well but not having much experience in development I won't try to be too much of a smartass here :) -
Because an FTP server is great for overloading a connection. By limiting the amount of simultaneous connections, Bohemia makes sure the FTP server won't explode. Would you prefer it that the server goes down completely for every new beta patch / update?
-
Thats normal if too many connections are going to the FTP server, its basically bandwidth / user throttling.

You break your legs with no morphine. What do YOU do?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Zexis's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Depends on the blood level. If i'm passing out all the time and really far away from any morphine, I'll try to meet up with a friend or suicide. If I am within 1-2 km of a hospital and blood is high enough, I think its worth it to try to grab some morphine. Twice already I've managed to grab some morphine from the Elektro Hospital and from Berezino. Normally I try to always have at least 2 Morphine on me at all times. Thanks to all the random bone breaking going on though, you run out pretty fast. -
A few questions, thinking of buying this
Lukio (DayZ) replied to thelonewarrior's topic in New Player Discussion
To anyone thinking about buying ARMA 2 just for DayZ, I'd really really warmly recommend giving ARMA 2 Free a look first. Just to get used to the different playstyle, understand how this game is different from generic shooters and also to get comfortable with the controls and the glitches that ARMA 2 inherently has. If you feel comfortable and understand how things work in ARMA 2, then give it a go. But please do not just blindly buy ARMA 2 CO just for this mod. The mod is heavily in alpha stage testing and will disappoint people who think they are getting anything close to AA gameplay. Don't get me wrong, the mod and the experiences made in this mod are pretty fascinating and really cool, fun and completely different from many other games. Just don't go out and buy a game just for one mod without informing yourself and getting familiar with the base game this mod is running on. -
Wrong. This is what is happening right now. Everybody playing DayZ is currently helping to test it before it gets rolled out! If the mod would be in beta, I would expect a basic functionality and stability that works underneath and barely ever sees changes. Well as this is not the case my wild guess is that its still in alpha testing. If you are not up to that because you don't think its your job, then stop playing and wait until things have stabilized. Also you didn't pay them anything, the mod is free last time I checked. If you however bought the base game just to play this mod and did not inform yourself about the stage the mod is in or how many issues there still are before spending money, then that is not the fault of the developers, is it now? I think there are several sections in the forum to report / discuss bugs and also suggest and discuss features. They are frequented quite often, give it a try. This is not what the OP was referring to.

Can anyone here gift me Arma 2 on steam?

Asking for gifts is kind of rude. -
Cannot connect to any server, getting kicked out for no reason
Lukio (DayZ) replied to IvanTheNotSoTerrible's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
For the future, try reinstalling Battleye first, chances are hight that was the issue. Especially with Steam Battle Eye needs a seperate update, the menu option does not always do the trick. -

I currently have two loadable characters
Lukio (DayZ) replied to JimmyTheHand's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The HIVE basically is the official DayZ character database that tracks your character and is basis for persistence throughout several servers. If you join an official mod server, it connects to the HIVE, retrievs your character data and places your character into the hosted game. There are servers that basically are running their own home-brew character database (server hive) to discourage people from server jumping / doing an ALT + F4 to exploit. Characters created and played on these servers only will be playable on these servers. In my opinion these servers should be avoided as they do not benefit the mod and highly increase the fragmentation of server flavours as well as confusing people who will miss the character persistence of DayZ. -
If DayZ was Real, how would you act?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Gareth_Sims (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'd wager most households are prepared enough to make it for a week without leaving or having to scavenge much in the case of a catastrophe. Anyway as the subject implies "If DayZ was Real" a zombie apocalypse like in DayZ is not something real and there is no need to prepare for that. Anyone seriously preparing for a zombie apocalypse as displayed in fictional movies, comics, games or books is just a nutjob in my book. -
Fun to done in less than 30 minutes...
Lukio (DayZ) replied to BoomBoom (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I do not understand these kinds of threads - we are testing an alpha version of a mod on a beta version release of a game that is three years old and riddled with glitches and bugs. So its not "only" Alpha, its Alpha on Beta release on prone-to-glitches 3 year old game. Anyone who expects this to be playable like a AAA standalone game release is daft, sorry to be so bland about it. Anyone who did not inform himself what he is spending his money on and just blindly followed the herd is at his own fault. Anyone who expects a mod to a game to be as good or better quality/performance than the base game needs to do a reality check. -
DayZ Videoguide - How to find yourself at start [ENG/GER]
Lukio (DayZ) replied to mannil's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
And for everyone who is more of a visual mapping type (like some of my friends I play with) I've made a short video along the coast showing off the different towns and points of interest (with names). I've been told that it was helpful because many people can't transpose the geographical map to the ingame graphics.
