Why not remove the debug monitor all together - it currently contains no beneficial information: Zombies killed - Not relevant, this does not make you any better or proves anything Headshots - Not relevant, again - either the enemies are dead or not, no matter how they died Murders - Not relevant, you know exactly well if you've killed a player Bandits killed - Not relevant, if you've killed someone id'd as bandit, you are aware of it anyway Blood: Status can be seen in hud icon Zombies: Status varies on location and amount of players per server, number says nothing Humanity: Status can currently be seen in humanity hud icon Temperature: Status can be seen in temperature hud element, currently ok if its full (42° C) Name: Completely redundant, except for people with a very bad memory. In this case you may want to consult a doctor (IRL).

Hmmm I imagine this scenario: You walk into town, avoid all zombies, start looting and scavenging, move tactically between buildngs. You almost made it to that church/shopping centre/office building with the good stuff. Suddenly from a speaker right above you a loud "Bugle call" blares out, announcing that the server is shutting down in 15 minutes. All zombies in and around the town stop in their motion and look into your direction. They yell unisono as if controlled by one master zombie. Immediately you are swarmed and maimed to death.

Shovel & small, medium and large satchel, to bury items
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Daddy'o's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Of course being in such a vast area like Chernarus you will of course put up a little red flag on your stash mound hidden away in a godforsaken forest, just to make sure you can find it more easily, right? Because between all those trees and stones and bushes it could be anywhere. Unfortunately a lonely survivor may stumble upon your stash and clear it. Generally I am against "banking" items like this, for every advantage you can have there must be some kind of risk attached. All in all though this suggestion sounds more "survivor-ish" than stashing your stuff in a tent in the middle of nowhere. -
I like the idea, though you should only be able to to plant on those big agricultural fields, there needs to be a hefty risk associated with a renewable food source like this. On top of that growing anything edible should take at least eight weeks. Also anyone who stumbles upon the field can harvest and profit from it.

fix the ghostly, broken ambient sounds
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Blay Wayne's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Against removing the random sound bits. That metal gate sound still freaks me out sometimes. This is why it needs to stay in the game. -

Oh thats interesting - is it the actual model size or # of pouches? Because ALICE looks smaller/less cumbersome than the big Czech Backpack. If it really improves your mobility, I'd see the sense of the czech pouch for recon/small raids and you'd stash your equipment in a tent or something. Maybe helps you keep an even smaller profile I'd figure.
-
What is the point of the Czech Vest Pouch actually? Is it additional space to the backpack? Haven't ever seen one or had one - so I'm just asking here.

People could work in the office buildings and introduce bureaucracy to Chernarus. :D On a more serious note I think there definitely could be more of a "McGuyver" factor in the scenario of the game. Fixing power stations, storing your food in houses (you could possibly even ab-use the non enterable houses for that) instead of in tents, activating airport towers and radio stations for a basic communication network etc. Yes I think that would be plausible in an environment that isn't hostile, i.e all zombies have been eradicated and there is a very large and organized group of survivors working together with the necessary know-how and tools. Not sure though if this matches the premise of the mod.

Can indoors movement be improved ? Can more enterable houses be added ?

Isn't ST_Movement mod just client side and should work together with DayZ? -

Dear rocket, f**k humanity. Focus on Morality.
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Goldstein (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Imo morale is very subjective and up till now I haven't seen any game or simulation correctly defining rules (because that is what games are about) for morality, because every person, culture, city or community has a different threshold on what is moral / immoral. Its very little black and white with 90% grey in between. This depends on so many factors that it would be its own simulation. -
Why is an old wives' tale being used as a game mechanic?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to catgut's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What is really odd is that you need a clock to read the exact time, a compass to find the exact direction, a map to pinpoint where you are, but you automatically "know" your body temperature. I think our so beloved Rocket secretly stuck a thermometer into the place where the sun never shines. :-D -
Just wondering - will 1.71 also include turning off hunger/thirst levels going down during offline time? I think (before the forum rollback) there was a thread linking to a post of Rocket saying that this will be fixed, can't find it anymore.

Thats exactly why I bound it to Shift + V. I had to rebind some keys anyway because I play ESDF, not WASD so it was normal to rebind it. V is stand up, SHIFT + V is move over (also makes kind of sense).

20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
Lukio (DayZ) replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
NO ... if status gets wiped after the character dies. Humanity as persistent player stat, not for the character, then YES. -
For reasons of realism nothing happens when you eat and drink and go swimming within 30 minutes.

15 min of playing...over 2 hours of black misery
Lukio (DayZ) replied to maleitch's topic in New Player Discussion
A bit OT but just a quick question regarding chemlights. Two days ago I heard something about chemlights having different variances on lighting range, something about the green chemlight having the lowest visiblity and red being able to be seen from a greater distance, with blue in the middle. Is this true? Does the lighting work like real light waves? -
The flies/crows on very low humanity discussion
Lukio (DayZ) replied to switch296's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
MASKOAA, don't you think people would generally go crazy in a world where zombies roam around in every village, town and city? If I'd be wandering around like I've been doing in Chernarus, I'd go pretty insane and 100% paranoid, even without killing anyone. Actually the more people you kill, the more cold blooded you would get, every bandit with more than 20 player kills should be walking around like Clint Eastwood in a Fistful of dollars. -
The flies/crows on very low humanity discussion
Lukio (DayZ) replied to switch296's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you murder someone and then dig through their clothing/packs they wear THEN you'd get bloody hands. You could easily rinse it with a water bottle, but it your sleeves might still remain bloody. Of course this would happen if you dig through a zombie corpse as well, right? :-D Personally I'm for less disparity of bandits on the map and have them more spread out, i.e make being a roaming, player hunting bandit more attractive. I write this a general non-bandit guy. -
Why is an old wives' tale being used as a game mechanic?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to catgut's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes its kind of simplistic and indeed the sickness should be based on more factors like repeated bleeding, bullet wounds or morphine usage. Tbh the 42° irritated me in the beginning, now its just another number telling me I'm not cooling down. Of course everyone knows that if your temperature goes above 40° you won't be doing much at all except just sweating and aching. The temperature system of the body is way too complex to just go to 40°+ if you run more than 3 km. Also the human body does a fantastic job of keeping you alive even in very low temperatures, hypothermia doesn't happen that easily either. Usually its connected to temperature shock or increased exposure to cold.
