    How to make zombies scary

    Just yesterday a buddy of mine said in TS, these infected are kind of scary because of their noise, but I am so happy that there is nothing like the sound of the Witch or Tank from L4D. What was really awesome in L4D is that you could hear the wailing of the witch or tank growls from really far away. Just having a random freaky sound emitter added when x number of zombies are in one area would make things scarier on a more subtle level, without removing ammo or adding more infected. Imo this mod is a lot about uncertainty and we all know how sometimes you freak out when you hear that "creaky gate close", "birds flying away" or "twigs snapping" sound.

    Something like a big fat "Not contributing" button and the option to hide/filter posts above a certain threshold.

    Please wipe everything

    I'm for a wipe during alpha if new weapons or groundbreaking mechanism changes get introduced, just so that everyone testing the alpha is on the same level, especially with all the hacked and duped items existant on some servers. Definitely i'd like to see a complete wipe between alpha and beta and of course once in the future when its out of beta.

    ALT+F4 counters would need the game to know in which state the player was before he disconnected. So on a 30s timer would be like this: Player was in combat 10s ago, not in game any more, timer still running. Player gets flagged for probable DC-ing Player was in combat 40s ago, not in game any more, timer ran off. No flag set. Combat timer ran out, but player has bleeding, shock, other status effects, effects still active on character after logout, Player gets flagged for probable DC-ing. X DC-ing flags = repeated offender, flagging for repeated behaviour Y repeated behaviour flags = t hour ban Some kind of escalating system of warning/ban like in most forums would make sense. All flags gets reset every time the timer runs out and no status effects exist before leaving the game. This would at least catch the people that heavily abuse the DC-ing to save their necks without punishing people who have actually had a normal internet disconnect.

    Currently you have 5 minutes imo. If you run hard, you can cover about 2km on the map (depending on altitudes inbetween etc.).

    Where do you find morphine?

    Generally in Hospitals and some army tents. As medical supplies also have a chance to spawn as part of a military loot spawn, you sometimes can be lucky with checking out hunting stands or other military loots spots, I think its like a 1.21% chance to spawn medical items and an even lower chance for morphine. Else wise follow Targetts advice.

[/quote'] Asking questions because to me your suggestion isn't well laid out and giving my opinion isn't really trolling - on top of that your high horse attitude isn't really helping. Anyway I do not see any benefit in a game that isn't designed around a more social experience, even in very social games things like marriage, matrimony, any kind of reproduction mechanism doesn't really work if its not a central part of the game. The only thing I can kind of agree to (and I guess that is where your suggestion comes from) is that in a post apocalyptic setting, the ultimate goal to survival would be somehow to settle down and possibly keep the human race intact by reproduction. Currently (!) I do not see a place for this in DayZ, but that is just my opinion to your suggestion.

Watch the PCGamer Interview session, at 46 minutes Rocket admits that they currently in this early alpha stage don't have much of a grip on the hacks going on / are caught with their pants down, but explicitly states that updates on security are never mentioned in patch notes. So seeing that 1.7.2 is all focused on stability and security, I'd think several loopholes may be fixed, if not I am pretty sure they are working on it. Going against hackers is always a cat and mouse game. Also PC Gaming is dead.

    No, because unlocks, achievements and other shenanigans are exactly why DayZ is refreshingly nice to play.

    I like this idea very much, except for the editing names part, why not just take over the characters name/let him introduce himself - when close enough? It may be confusing if 3 different players actually socialize and meet up, one guy names the two other A + B, player 2 names his two guys Hammer and Owl, the third guy has Sniperboy and Bandageman. From what I read the whole naming part is just when you aren't close to a player, maybe add in some way of introducing yourselves to each other (Mouse wheel menu -> "Introduce") and then the name that the player set up for you gets replaced with your characters name. I'd really like the addition of more social features like friends lists, grouping and the like, but I guess it still is too early for that. At the moment its very odd to socialize, most encounters I have are like randomly stumbling upon a deer in the forest. Both involved freeze, stare and move away carefully. Also for the distance thing and how recognizing people works maybe have it so that from around 100m to 50m (just as example) you just see something like "acquaintance" and then when you are under 50m it tells you the character name (if you've met him before by the main mechanic).

    Rocket Disciplined for 1.7.1

    If you watch the PCGamer TwitchTV InGame Interview thing lots of things are explained about how the devteam is approaching Version 1.7.2, its mostly about performance, stability and security, less about implementing new features - the bear trap is just one little experiment. Also they are reorganizing how much of the coding works to have a good foundation for the future.

I suggest using Utes as (separate) tutorial / scenario map for some background story. - On start there could be another (dieing survivor) tells him about the tragedy that took place) - Spawn infected and some animals. - Loot spawns in same way as in Chernarus - Have the protagonist gather specific items from the lootable buildings, something like an emergency checklist that is left behind - Have him build together an Ural and in the end a fishing boat where he leaves off from the harbour towards Chernarus - At the end the ship somehow leaves in direction of Chernarus but the player has to jump off because it crashes against a sea shelf (and thus loosing most of his equipment ofc) - All in all this should take maximum two to three hours
  17. The second time I almost die (first time i did) just looking at my inventory near an object (although I wasn't really close - like 1m distance). My character gets teleported onto a wall and thist ime into a tree, I break my bones, get unconscious and loose tons of blood. How much does this have to do with ARMA or with the mod itself? Is it just for specific characters? Just asking because this is getting really annoying. I'm ok with breaking my bones from falling down, getting shot at or from zombies, but random glitches like this - if its because of ARMA basegame, then I don't understand why this still isn't fixed.

    Removal of 3rd person view exploit

    The exploitative nature of 3rd person view that seems to be disturbing you, based on the video you posted IS that the camera allows you to see further than you actually would be in a certain position, through walls, above walls, around corners. Having the camera be limited by walls and obstacles that cannot be passed through by normal sight or are above character height would fix exactly that annoying part of what you see as an exploit and would allow FPS and 3DP players to play on a server without one thinking the other has an unfair advantage. What you are suggesting is segregating 3DP and FPS players completely, which sounds really bad and does not make sense. ARMA II imo has alwas had this fragmentation of mods, players and addons - to me it just looks like you want to have a differentiation between "elite or hc" (in your opinion FPS) players and noobs / exploitative players who use 3DP view. I do not support this connotation that some players who play in FPS are better or more hardcore than players without.

    I don't know why these suggestions asking for NPCs or players to have intercourse with always come up. What would it do for the game experience? What are the benefits or deficits of having a family? It reminds me of people that have online marriages in MMOs - it has 0 meaning or value in a game that is not built around this mechanic.
