Catlle prod, I would want to get up close and personal. Also in such an agricultural piece of land it would be more fitting than such tactical non-lethal equipment.

Just drove a Tractor, best moment.
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Liixe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The last time I tried interacting with a tractor it ate my inventory. Very careful now around those machines! :-D -
Oh don't get me wrong, personally I think that was a really odd way to roleplay or resemble a spec ops unit, but hey in contrast to others they are trying to do something in the game, that poor guy on the beach might have been something like a test subject to see if what they are trying to do works. Maybe someone who was part of the crew will chip in - who knows maybe it wasn't really intended to go that way.

Killed by annoying bugs.
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Frank N Stein's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion

You seriously expected that no one would comment on your blatant exploiting? No one is "crying" about it here, just making fun of you actually. :) Anyway the bug is well known and has been around for a while now, last time it happened to me was during a TvT game and it was pretty funny. It has nothing to do with DayZ but is some kind of weird ARMA 2 thing like all those other weird ARMA 2 things.

Its the way they decided to play the game, there is no right or wrong on how to play.

Walking dead FPS. Dayz rip off?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to mr_plores's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Walking Dead: Zombie Warfare - Redneck Edition Featuring: Achievements! Unlocks! QTEs! Invisible Walls! Lots, and lots, and lots of doors that you can't open, but every other NPC can. (thx KWilt I had forgotten about this great feature) -
I literally just started. I keep dying in less than 10 mins.

May your first experience meeting another player be a good one. I wish you good luck. -
Not surprised at all, I think if I had a server I would ban all Russian IPs. Yes I have prejudice because of so many prior bad experiences with many (not all) Russian players in online gaming. I used to host QW/Q2/Q3 servers and it was a problem then and still is that way or is even worse.

Lobo - you are validating my observation that when no weapons are available to players, people easily group and are friendly but also say that weapons at a lower availability are bad. I am confused.

DayZ needs the Bandit suit back
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Blacktiger07's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is some way of doing that. Attempt to socialize and cooperate with someone. If you succeed' date=' you have successfully identified an individual who wants to socialize and cooperate. [/quote'] Did do that effort ... went wrong too often. As soon as people have a weapon they turn into sociopaths. There used to be times when that method worked and I had some fun moments, but currently its just a fragfest for most players. Finding the random decent human by trial and error is not really a great method, is it now? Which social challenges? 99% of players now are anti-social bastards. Finding the 1% by your suggested method isn't really forthcoming. I play with my buddies on Teamspeak, based on my prior experience everyone else is deemed a potential threat. Social mechanisms (and challenges) in games don't work the same as in RL, you are talking and shooting at pixels, not human beings. Its not like I go to a bar, say "Hi is this seat free" and get killed and I probably wouldn't seat myself next to someone looking all grumpy and drunk. Edit: Between humans there are many more nuances going on in interaction that can't be displayed in a game and go much further than just saying "Are you friendly? In directional." Posture, composure, expression, body language, scent etc. this is what I mean when I am asking for better ways to gauge if someone is a threat or not. The heartbeat thing is a small step in the right direction. 2nd Edit: I am against any kind of system that will simply display a smiley or sad face above the players head and immediately identify them. Not asking for huggy hugs or baddy baddies. Just more indirect ways that mimic the way humans size up someone else. -
Well if there is a Day Z in Switzerland it will be fun for everyone but the Zombies, that good SIG 550 or P220 will take care of them :-D Anyway - the less weapons available, the more survivors seem to try to cooperate. I've heard a few stories of people spawning or meeting each other unarmed and banding together for a while. At the moment everyone is so hot for getting a big fat gun and then they have this gun and want to put it to use, preferably against other players instead of the infected. Somehow the CoD switch gets turned on as soon as they have a rifle in their hands. What if you would get a welding kit or a mechanics toolbox that you could only equip as primary? (like the hatchet). Then people would start to look for stuff to repair and others to protect them -> more bonding.

3 reasons for buying ArmA to play DayZ
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Lycake's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
- You only need to install and manage one mod for DayZ, not 5-6 like on usual ARMA 2 servers. - He will experience how it is to die from a toilet door - If you exploit, hack and generally have sociopathic tendencies you'll get the bestestest loot evar Now seriously - if you have to convince him or win him over, maybe its not the right game for him and for long-term fun you may be better off looking for people who already enjoy playing the game. -
Pro-Tip when lying prone in first person - do a 360° turn to flatten the grass around you. I prefer to be able to choose asd I feel it fits the situation, both camera view have their pro and contra.

DayZ needs the Bandit suit back
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Blacktiger07's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really hope there is some way of identifying people who actually want to socialize & cooperate with others, currently my circle of trust includes only people with whom I am on Teamspeak or Skype - anyone else is deemed a potential threat. There is no useful mechanic of trust/empathy/humanity implemented and its no surprise we get what we have right now. -

Character death should carry more weight
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Lukio (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah the 20 minutes thing. It was just a f**king example ok? This is about displaying your character death in a more profound way than currently implemented by the "You are dead" screen. A cutscene or a camera zooming out from your body laying on the floor for example. -
So you are bored and think the game needs something endgame or new...
Lukio (DayZ) replied to Survivor-Kyle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
About a month ago I would've gone with that notion, but any level of trust I used to have towards random survivors has degraded to a point that I am not willing to help them. Right now, together with some buddies I am basically just touring through Chernarus but as it takes everyone 2-3 hours to get together in one location usually the evening is over before we actually can do something decent. I don't know how everyone else actually pulls this off, we are always strewn across the map, because no one is content on sitting in a spot for 4 days until we can continue playing together (we all have jobs/RL/family). Also finding a server with open slots usually eats up another 40-50 minutes until we can actually start to move around. TLDR: I'd like to do more but currently the state the mod / community is in and having only one character to play with I feel severely limited. -
The hidden problems with PVP/PVE only servers.
Lukio (DayZ) replied to SystemiK's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Aren't we all doing that anyway? What choice do we have except making suggestions? TBH making a multiplayer game that incorporates PVE and PVP elements all in one is really difficult, the best execution I have ever seen was DAoC. This game had solid PvE (for its time) and maybe one of the best online PvP I've ever encountered. The only way this worked is by separating the PVE zones from the PVP zones. Yes there were "all PVP" servers, but they never were that popular or fun to play on and the community was full with cheaters, griefers and psychopaths. Even EVE online with its cut-throat PVP community has some kind of balance. Unfortunately ARMA 2 & DayZ are trying to mimic some kind of MMO experience without the typical social aspects of MMOs. Rocket will need to find his way of dealing with a mixed PVP/PVE environment. Aside of that most ARMA 2 players know full well that public servers have always been prone to attacks/hacks etc. that's why almost all clan/group servers are private nowadays, another thing that he somehow has to get a grip on. -
How can you restore your blood?
Lukio (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
Canned food: 200 blood Cooked meat from animals: 800 blood Blood bag: Full restore / 100% blood As long as you are over 9000 blood you are doing ok and usually can recover without much issues, below 3000 and when you start randomly going unconscious you either need a blood transfusion or go suicide. -
Give me fov 110 and maybe I'll try permanent FP view, currently the FP view is like wearing blinders to me. Also somehow in ARMA 2 moving inside of buildings or narrow obstacles with FP view is horrible, so I prefer to be able to switch between both to my liking.
