An Issue with the New Spawns AKA "The Kamyshovo Massacre"
jaginun replied to wgaf's topic in General Discussion
Issue? This doesn't seem like any kind of problem to me. Keep up the good work, soldier! In all seriousness, you will have had to kill players at least twice there, and by that time, if not before, they should realise they don't want to be looting the town with the group killing them. With the new spawns yesterday, me and a friend just went down the east coast. It's unbelieveable how many people are fine with running out in the open, even when they see 2 armed men with a trail of bodies behind them. I'm not gonna get whined at for KoSing when the people being killed should really know better. -
I would take a screenshot when you log in, and a screen shot 3 minutes after and then compare them. If it's decreased in saturation, then yes, you are bleeding. If not, it must have bugged out and fixed itself.

I agree partly, but I would like to see as you say, less 5.56 in bases, but more around the countryside, preferably in the wrecked Humvee's lying around. I like your explanation, but I still think that along side beans and a wrecked hoodie you could find a small packet of .223.

I don't see any reason to include the 3D printed gun at all. It's completely useless as a weapon, it's one shot and if it's realistic it would probably degrade to the point you can't use it after ONE shot (And probably take your hand off with it). It's also really stupid to include it in a game based in an ex-soviet republic. No one will privately own a 3D printer, let alone use it to print these awful ineffective guns. And If possible, I would vote to include several types of rifles, pistols and shotguns before we even think about SMG's. The nature of Sub Machine Guns makes them very late game equipment, along with pretty ineffective now that guns are relegated for PvP, not PvZ. I was fine with the amount of SMG's in the mod, 2 types is well enough.

Check the wiki, there's one there iirc. EDIT: Had a look, this was the best I found. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/DayZ_Standalone I swear there was a better one, with all the features colourcoded etc, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Bare in mind that this really isn't too hard to get. There are only a few guns in the game, and with the restarts yesterday he probably just took advantage of all the fresh loot. Uhhh, you were talking about the players equipment, and yes, 30 Round stacked mags aren't really that uncommon. And if anything, coast killers probably don't have that good of gear, considering the people they're killing have nothing.

Spawns are bugged? No more along south coast?
jaginun replied to albinorhino's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, only east coast spawns now, as well as elektro and novy, which was quite a suprise when me and my friend found out when strolling down from Berenzino to the south coast yesterday. I think the record was 13 kills, 2 captures, 5 disconnects, and only one firefight. (Ready and willing to collect gourmet tears) -
1. I think this is probably a problem that comes with putting a condition on everything, like the pecuiliarities you got with games like Dwarf Fortress. I would argue that food really shouldn't have a condition, unless the condition is on the can, which effects how much food is availible to be taken from it while opening. 2. Not yet, but I assume it would. I would hate for body clothing to do different levels of protection against damage, excluding bullet proof shirts and helmets etc, but protection from cold sounds reasonable. 3. No idea what's in store, but I would like to see both your suggestion implemented, and that when it got to the 'ruined' stage, there was perhaps a chance that some items fall across the floor (along with a sound effect) when the backpack is ruined. 4. I think this is already in place, AFAIK buttstocks and sights (obviously) effect accuracy, not sure about handguards. 5. That would be the logical solution, yes. Although in that case any method of steralizing the equipment would also have to increase it's condition. Obviously, not in game yet.

I would definitely be alright with different effects for gunshots to different areas, but I deeply disagree with everyone becoming Billy the Kid and trying to shoot guns out of people's hands. The best you could hope to do is not shoot them in the torso or head to get them on the ground.

It seems a bit unfair to scramble the location of new characters, just to stop server hopping. And anyway, most server hoppers will spend the first half hour getting the essentials rather than immediately starting to server hop. Unless you want to up the time of when characters are scrambled to an hour and annoy a lot of people, you wouldn't be doing anything to the vast majority of server hoppers. I don't see what is wrong with the standard approach of adding, say, a minute long timer to stop people from joining a server too fast. It won't mean server hopping is impossible, but considering the practice is one born out of practicality and lack of effort, a lot of server hoppers will be disuaded by that countdown.

I wouldn't like to see tags according to bandit, friendly etc, but some small clear band on the arm that would be equippable at will would be nice. So, everyone in one group could decide to take red armbands etc.

Barns appear to have no loot whenever I encounter them
jaginun replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
Yep, no spawns in barns yet. -
1. Nope, open to abuse. Don't want my towns spray painted like CS with tits and memes everywhere. 2. Ehh, game time = time in game or time since char creation? 3. Yes to the unconcious one, like the system in ArmA. No to dead players, either bury them or leave them , no Hitman sneaky shit here. 4. *Sigh*, No, players can barely tolerate one another, trading is out of the question. I would recommend reading up on things like Fiat money as well to understand why cash that was worth a lot before the disaster is worthless now, it's basic economics. 5. SEE MY SIG, USE THE BLOODY SEARCH FUNCTION.

If the extent of your proposed additions have been relegated to a simple lore generated backstory, then it's gonna be pretty pointless. Why should I have the computer generate a cookie-cutter tale for my character when most players could create a much better one?

How to authentically strike the right balance of PvP in DayZ SA.
jaginun replied to Zeds_Undead_baby's topic in General Discussion
The 2nd option is going against what the game is all about, a natural environment with no punishment for players playstyle. 3rd Option would probably be the best. We already have quite a bit of medicine that requires teamwork, including the only way to regain blood reliably, but I think that the amount of zombies is fine, as long as they bring in zombie respawns, but they probably do need to up the damage of zombie hits. Of course, the zombies in the DayZ mod were often imbalanced because of patches which meant that looting towns was a major problem, but it didn't lead to any dramatic effect on the PvP levels. If anything, the difficulty of getting loot meant that even more people killed other players, for the sole reason of obtaining the even harder to get equipment. TL:DR, 3rd option, but will probably not produce desired effect. Better to change player attitude than introduce artificial difficulty. -
Generally take 40 round mags or dual 30/30. Unlike in ArmA where the 10 round mags provided better damage, there isn't any advantage to smaller mags.

First of all, check all your drivers, that includes any network adapters you have been using. I know a few connection problems on my end have been caused by old drivers for my network adapter. Secondly, run the game from the game folder, and put administrator mode on. Finally, just to be sure, download a new anti-virus that you know is trustworthy and give that a scan. It's unlikely but just to be sure. My spidey senses are giving me a hint that something may be corrupt, but I'm not 100%. You will want to check with others to make sure.

There are several differences between the plains of Africa and this zombie apocalypse. For one, zombies are actively aggressive, even the most dangerous of animals are mainly territorial. Secondly, it would be like if every time a lion or croc killed a human, there would be another lion or croc against you. Thirdly, like Max Brooks mentions in his books, while many countries are attributed with waging 'total war', they can't. Not everyone can be dedicated to winning 100% of the time. Zombies can however, they don't sleep, don't have recreational activities, and their sole mission in life is to track and eat humans. Combine that with an altogether less fertile and fruitfilled landscape of Chenarus, and you've got yourself a scenario for people killing for the scraps. And yes, they don't hunt themselves, but players in DayZ don't 'hunt' humans either. Most of the time they will kill other players because they have something they need to survive. The only exception I could see is the geared up PvP groups who actually KoS. This is simply a combination of how videogames can't be perfect, and the lack of content in the game. As soon as people can find things which they can't get again in 30 minutes, they'll start acting a lot more protectively.

DayZ Sound Design Test - Part 3 Final Added
jaginun replied to fortran's topic in General Discussion
Bloody top notch effects there, the gun sounds were the best I've ever heard in a game, period. The zombies no longer sound like snivveling children and like actual zombies. If I had to give any feedback, I would say that the ambient indoors/outdoors effects are a little clustered together. You might want to space out the bird noises and the effects etc so it can be a bit more immersing for the player. But yeah, if they havn't already sent you an email asking for the rights to use those sounds, they should have. Absolutely 10/10 -
Alright, I honestly skipped through the replies after the OP so apoligies if this has already been mentioned. People reply 'it be alpher' when someone probably posts in General Discussion, whining about it. We have an entire other site for the recording and removal of these bugs, but these people decide to instead just rant about the problem in the vain hope it's more effective than reporting it. They also often complain that the game is not satisfactory. One thing everyone must know is that it's the unspoken law not to review a game that isn't released, especially one like this which is barely out of closed dev. If people were talking about bugs in some kind of support forum without judging the game, then it wouldn't get the treatment they do.

Yep, but animals are just in the wilderness, most likely in their home turf where they have reliable animals to hunt or plants to feed off etc. In DayZ, we are talking about an actively hostile environment, where the people surviving are already the best of the best. It's not about 'bare enjoyment', it's about getting the upperhand, being able to survive, survival of the fittest etc. You see animals, fight, often kill eachother for ownership of a kill, don't you though? This is the exact same thing, except that we're in an even worse situation than the lions, so we don't just play along until we need to take the supplies. We take anything that we have to, for survival. If that means not giving another thought to friendly cooperation because they have a load of food or a good defencive weapon, then so be it.

Good overwatch posistions around Balota?
jaginun replied to PwnCaiks101's topic in General Discussion
Eh, no point. Firstly, your squad will find nothing there, already picked clean, I can garuntee that much. Secondly, people come to balota through the trees as well as through the road (they think they're being sneaky), so you're going to be just as likely to get an axe in the back as on the road. If I were you, pack up and move northwards, you can still find people there if that's your goal, without so much of the danger. New spawns that are killed are likely to respawn, go back to your known position and kill you. -
I wish there was a system opposite of giving beans, I would use it now. No, but do you know why? Because we DO NOT want full servers. They ruin the experience. Any server where half of your lives end right on the beach in a boxing match with another newbie is bad. Like I've said before, player encounters should be rare and special. And even now, farming isn't a large problem, the least populated day servers often have at least 10 people, which is an ideal population in my opinion. EDIT: In addition, in the future servers won't be as generic and uniform as they are now. There will be private hives, different settings etc. You'll want to pick out a specific server at that time to play on, so randomly joining the most populated one might not be enjoyable in terms of settings.

On second thoughts, better idea than filling your cramhole with enough food to satisfy a blue whale.
