Yes and no. Its the same area(Chernarus), but they have added a lot of buildings and relocated others (?). For example Cherno is expended and now have a lot of 10-ish storage apartments.

Haven’t fund any game breaking bugs yet so even as an alpha its pretty playable. And if you are completely new to DayZ, then maybe this is the best time to learn the basics, with few zeds to wary about. Maybe watch a few livestreams before you decide? But I have no trouble with recommending it.

Agree, but types of guns =/= amount of guns. Guns should be rare, but that dont exclude many types of guns.

Speeking of canteens, a full canteen only holds 10ml = 0,01 liter. This has to be a typo, or is my brain in total vacation mode? Or has it something to do with the canteen been damaged?

You can have different ingame (profile) and account names. You can change your profile name in the steam client.

4 hours give you ~2 hours daylight, ~1 hour twilight and ~1 hour darkness. A little of everyting each time you play. -
IRL you dont get sick by been wet or cold. You get sick if you are exposed to bacteria and/or viruses, so why should you get sick by been wet ingame?

You need to read the signs on the road and find it on the map, theres no marker on the map. You can also use the landskap, buildings and the road network, and correlate it with what you see to find out exactly where you are if you know in what area you are.
