Shameless bump, would be good to get more people seeing this to win :)
  4. The aim of the speed run is to find a weapon as fast as possible and use it to find better weapons. Easiest way of doing that? Attacking other players. The lesson to be learned is to not be too greedy :D channel: http://www.youtube.com/KrebsCOHO

    FAIL - Elektro Speed Run

I tried to do a serious speed run through Elektro with the aim in mind of finding weapons ASAP and using them. That turned to a fail and again I've realized to never trust anyone. Link to the channel: www.youtube.com/KrebsCOHO

    FAIL - Elektro Speed Run

Oh damn! Makes me wonder if he heard me. But you can actually hear fishfood say a few things over the microphone maybe in response to what I was saying? Like "Friendly?" "Don't kill me" "Ok ok friendly". We know how that turned out :D Awe haha, the tent in the bank was probably an obstacle and the tent set up in front of the shop is a decoy put out by snipers waiting in the hills.

  13. I had an idea that characters progression should be separated between servers of different difficulties. So where ever you are spawned and what loot you earn in hardcore servers is only transferable between those whilst whatever you earn in easier servers are transferable between them. I'd like to maintain a hard core server but the prospect that people can get loot easier in easier difficulties and then head on over to a hard core server seems a bit off putting. +1?

RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

While Simon and Lewis are in the gag I genuinely think their "ignorance was bliss". They didn't know anything about the game and were a long for the ride. I have a feeling the people who are in charge of directing the videos is to blame; namely, and my guess, Ridgedog. For some reason he thought it was a good idea to represent DayZ by teleporting people about, spawning items, etc. They should of played the game for hours and then spliced footage together.

Can anyone here gift me Arma 2 on steam?

People ridicule you because you're asking for money that people had to earn. Depending on what someone gets paid, minimum wage it could take someone 3 hours + of work to get a copy of Arma 2; 3 hours people had to labour through whilst you're asking for a handout for doing nothing. Shame on you for even asking such a thing from people you don't know. You'll get older some day and learn to appreciate that the money you work for is what you earned, and beggers don't have a right to a dime you've made.

RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

I'd like to address everyone who thinks we're being arrogant for wanting to snub the new influx of new players - I couldn't really care. Either way the community is growing exponentially. I'm reassured that the difficulty of DayZ will kill off most of the children playing the game. The final thing I'd refute is anyone saying that the YogsCast can do whatever they want. While I agree technically, they can cast whatever they want in any style, they should not be casting the way they did in the mod. Anyone with a large fan base should develop a moral responsibility of depicting a mod, game, anyone's creation with as much accuracy and integrity. Imagine then if your favourite news station or newspaper falsified every article or story because that was their style - it's wrong. The same applies to what they did in their DayZ video.

RIP DayZ - Yogcast started a LP

Quite a rubbish video - a number of points annoyed me throughout the video. The first being how awful they were; the YogsCast are generally horrendous with games and I explicitly cannot watch newbies playing games - not even I was that bad when I jumped into DayZ my first time. The cheating throughout the video also really irked me because that just corrupted the whole idea of surviving and earning your gear. And lastly, the childish humour was detracting from the atmosphere that DayZ is supposed to make someone feel. Watch any other proper Lets Play and you'll notice many times people feel great deals of stress when engaging bandits, zombies, etc. These guys don't even care if they die or not because they're probably going to drop the game relatively soon and produce more minecraft cash-cow videos. Undoubtedly, a whole swarm of younger players will be coming to DayZ now. I just hope DayZ will become harder because the biggest killer of children populations in games is difficulty. Kids get attached to their gear, as soon as they've kept their character alive for a few hours, earned some loot and get killed by a sniper out of the blue they'll cry and leave the game. Same with the horror atmosphere of DayZ - a lot of kids will be too scared to play it. Should DayZ get more difficult (and it should) that should weed out the young from the mature.

    Make the Game Harder

At the moment the game is too easy even with increased difficulties. Once you know how to play DayZ it's easy getting advanced gear: simply run through hordes of zombies into houses, quickly grab the gear and run out the back entrance. In it's current state I'm more afraid of bandits than zombies. IMO, the game should be a true simulator. What I would recommend is the following: 1. Allow zombies to run in-doors - It seems silly that zombies can chase after you full sprint outside but as soon as they come to an enclosed area they slow down. This would make buildings safe havens but also hell if you're not equipped to take on the zombies chasing after you 2. Make all loot scarce and rarer - It's easy to find everything you need to survive. There should be tension going between locations, trying to spare what bullets you have and reasoning whether you have enough food or water to run to the next city. 3. Turn off third-person - I understand this is a preference and I usually play with 3p on. However, it ruins dynamics of the game being able to look around cornres, see people on the street while you're safely hidden on a rooftop. First person should be the standard. 4. Fix some current game-breaking mechanics - Such as disconnecting whilst in a battle or being chased in zombies. I'm sure we're all aware now that if you disconnect all the zombies that were following you disappear. Fix this, and also implement a system that allows you to disconnect instantly if you're not agroed, allows you to disconnect after all zombies that have agroed you are killed, allows you to disconnect if you are not in the vicinity of a gun battle (this would need to be defined by gun fire being shot near you). If anyone force quits their game their character will remain there for a minute. 5. Change combat mechanics entirely (probably won't happen in Arma 2) - I'd like to see a battle system more a-kin to other games out there such as skyrim. It seems like in DayZ Zombies can damage you without actually having physical contact. Change this so that melee battles with AI and players is realistic. Hopefully, with all of these points being made the current PVP idea of "shoot-on-sight" will be thrown out and people will be more inclined to help each other survive. It seems almost abusive how everyone you meet is ready to kill you. I imagine a Zombie Apocalypse would demand a lot more co-operation between peoples.

    The bugginess of ATVs

I'm sure people know about this by now but it's an issue that needs to be addressed. We were driving around in our ATVs when this happened. Beware of bridges.

    Wheelchairs anyone?

Haha, love the trolls in here. But realistically handicapped people wouldn't survive long in a zombie apocalypse. I wouldnt mind having wheel chairs in the game though.
  24. I just had an idea when I heard some people complaining that zombies were detecting them beyond walls. Rather than Zed's knowing exactly where somebody is inside a building (especially multi-story ones) when they're detected by audio, why not make it so zeds investigate the general area of origin where the audio came from? That way people could maneuver their way out of buildings. You could also expand it to outdoor occasions like when gun shots go off. Zombies could head in the general direction but not go to the exact spot it occurred.
