Hi everyone, so I’m here to talk about some ideas that we’ve thoughts with a friend of mine. I’ll organize these ideas in three categories: I Inventory II Melee combat III Zombies So, I’ll begin with some inventory tweaks we’d like, please feel free to comments if you agree with it, or if you don’t and explain. I Inventory 1 Ammunition Ok so, I guess it already happened to lots of us that you have lots of magazines in your inventory but some of them are half full or only contains 10-1 bullets. What to do then? Drop your magazines? Risk to go in combat with empty magazines? Our idea here was to allow player to fill one magazine with another, for example you have two magazines: _ /_/ 25 bullets _ /_/ 9 bullets And all you have to do is drag one magazine over the other, and then you’ll obtain: _ /_/ 30 bullets _ /_/ 4 bullets Of course this operation should take time, like 5 sec per bullet transferred because that’s not so easy in real life I guess. 2 Item Stacking Our second idea was the possibility to stack some items, why? Because you could easily do it in real life, and because a bandage doesn’t take as many room as a food-can does. As recently we got quiver for Crossbow Bolt, why not for those items? Here is an example list: Bandage stackable by 4-5 Epi-pen stackable by 2 or 3 Auto-injector stackable by 2 or 3 Heat stackable by 4-5 3 Tool belt Here the problem is simple, why can’t we took hatchet, torchlight or knife (I’ll explain why knife in the 2nd part) in hand? That’s frustrating that you can’t switch to hatchet easier, every time you’ll lose your current weapon… II Melee Combat 1 Concept We’re in an apocalyptic world, we’re facing zombies, bandits, or momently-friendly people, and doing noise, firing with an enfield or an AK-74 isn’t that smart when you’re surrounded by hostile entities. So, we thought that when someone is in this situation, he’ll be able to become a powerful warrior. And being able to kill someone at a really close range is an important thing. 2 Knife Our idea about knife was to be able to use it to kill someone, in two ways: The first one is to stab someone like we can do with hatchet. The second one was to be able to back stab to allow players to “one shot” an enemy if he didn’t saw you coming by behind. 3 Using main weapon as melee weapon Maybe players should be allowed to use his current weapon as a melee weapon, doing low damage, or at least allowing to push enemies. III Zombies 1 Spawning distance One main problem in DayZ is that you’re quite always aware of knowing if there is someone in a city that you’re camping, or that you would scout. So if I’m not wrong zombies spawn in a 200m area, maybe increasing this range to 500m could change things. 2 The horde Then, we thought about how zombies are walking carelessly, and pointlessly. Maybe packing those in horde of 5 to 10 zombies, and making them walk from one point to another could make the gameplay really interesting, imagine that you’re walking in cherno, you’re all alone, you see nothing, you go scout some building and when you’re going out, you found that there are 20 zombies walking in your direction. It would decrease the randomness of the “aggro” system, making things easier, and harder, because you should wait the horde to walk away before running out and being followed by an army. 3 Movement speed / Number I don’t really know if increasing zombie number would be a good thing, or maybe find a way to increase zombie number and make them slower. But I really think the way zombies are in the game isn’t right. They’re too random to be avoid in a smart way, and too stupid to be a real danger, even if they’re a still a painful entity in the game. By the way, zombie are actually doing strange movement when being close to you, I mean they run, and then do some 90 degree move on the right/left, and that’s really annoying, maybe it should be fixed if it’s not intended. But if I’m not wrong they’re working on AI for the stand alone so, we’ll see. 4 Heli crash Heli crash are really rare, I guess it’s normal, but still, I think they’re way too easy to loot, so we thought about it, and that’s logical that if you can attract zombie while walking, you must probably attract them even more with an explosion. So the idea is to make heli crash spot surrounded by lots of zombies. They shouldn’t move until they saw someone, so basically you’d must kill them all to get to the crash site and scout it. 5 Surviving Decrease number of food-can and coke/drink that can be found to increase necessity of hunting and flask usefulness. This is too easy to find food and there is no point in hunting when you can walk 5min to the nearest city and found everything you want.
