I agree, hard evidence is needed. However, I find it funny that black lists are issued only with hard evidence. But server bans do NOT require hard evidence. As in, it seems as though a server ban is incredibly hard to appeal to, even if there is no evidence to support the ban in the first place.

I usually don't want to hear anyones voice on side chat either. But I wouldn't say a ban is the right course of action.

This kind of thing has happened to me before too. I could be playing in a server for a couple hours, have a friend join me, and it turns dark for me.. but they still have daylight for several more hours. Yes, we had watches, and it would be up to 6 hours apart from each other. I forgot to report it back when it happened. But it was just before the 1.7 patch. I thought that was incredibly terrible that I was heavily handicapped from nighttime, while everyone around me potentially had perfect vision.

Yeah. This just wouldn't work. You want to turn this more into "I Am Legend." Among the myriad reasons for not doing this, it would easily turn the game into all the zombies following a few humans, and no more zombies left to interact with without taking on a huge crowd. This would make sure its no longer a true survival game.

Nametags in this game is as good as cheating in my book. Its so easy to use it to find someone before you even see them.

lol I suppose. But thats also part of the thrill. Its an interesting idea, I just don't think its really very necessary.

I have been alive for almost 2 weeks (though I don't play every day right now, so technically, you could say I've only been alive for 5 days). I Have SOME good gear, but nothing better than a Lee Enfield and Makarov. And I have no matches. I can't remember the last time I used my gun to kill another player. I've most certainly been in towns where I heard shooting, but I have been able to avoid it. The last time I logged in, I was left in a far away place by my friends who already left the area. I was starving and hungry. One can one beans. I started with 10k health, and made it to a pond at 5k. That gave me enough time after that to raid a town for more food.

Would be nice, if possible. Having a backpack space that is unusable until you put it into your primary inventory doesn't seem like it adds anything. But I feel like this isn't coded as such because of limitations in the game. Either its not possible, or would require extra work that just isn't worth it right now.

Seems highly unnecessary to me. Food is plentiful enough. I have NEVER died of hunger or thirst. Gum is just one more thing that you need to balance in the game as a whole, and in your inventory. Might as well just increase the length of time before you get hungry. But I wouldn't suggest that either.

Beloozero, I realize its just your sig... but "If it's natural to kill, how come men have to go into training to learn how? -Joan Baez." The answer is so you can learn how to not die first.

I started reading some of the comments in YouTube about the video. Things such as spying in TeamSpeak is NOT a bannable offense. Its not even a kickable offense. Its not an offense at all. Rocket said its 100% legit. Its part of the game. You can ban people from the voice chat if its your own, but its completely unrelated to the DayZ server.

First, the deaths ARE confirmed visually, as much as they can be confirmed at least. Not ALL of them are on the video. But the first death you actually see the body on the edge of the building. In the video, the first shooting is at 3:51, kill is at 3:53, and the body disappears at 4:37. THEN Opex reappears on the BRIDGE at 4:43. Shakespade also confirms several deaths on voice chat. Now, you don't get the confirmed kill on the statistics, but you get the visual. So, what possible bugs could there be? Well, the bodies disappear fast, and then the person reappears ALIVE very soon after. So it may be that both of these guys appear dead, but really aren't, and while Shakespade and Freckles thought they were dead, then Opex and vlad were able to move around before they reappeared. I'd be quite curious to know THEIR side of this show.

As everyone already said... its in its alpha stages, not beta. Consider the suggestions OR bugs section, not the new players section for things like this.

Wilky, I find it amusing that the events in the debug forest correlated EXACTLY with the people in the video shown. Shakespade dies EXACTLY after he says he fell. Opex and/or vlad are killed by Freckles EXACTLY when the guy recording shoots the correlating player (on the top of the building, or on the level with the bridge). Opex is killed by Shakespade EXACTLY when the players shoot in the video. Convenient, isn't it? Or MAYBE, just MAYBE there IS some sort of hacking or glitching going on. Not necessarily intended. I do notice that there are no murders or bandit kills added to Freckles stats. And I can hardly even confirm if the player spawned back with the same gear. Just that they appeared again essentially in the same place they died, only to die again. Except for the one time Opex suddenly appeared from the top of the building, back down to the bridge. Shakespade voices when Opex is respawning in front of him. And it happens frequently enough that they aren't reloading the game. I also find it weird that, apparently, Opex's body was disappearing very shortly after Opex dies.

I pretty much agree with 'Never.' Camping is 100% legitimate. In such a hardcore survival game, you are going to want to do as little as possible that can get you killed. You are going to watch your back like crazy, move as little as possible, move as slowly as possible, and watch areas for a long, LONG time until you are sure its safe. This is NOT some random game where people run around and shoot each other, respawn with a new M16, then shoot each other again. Your goal is to keep everything you have. I'm sorry to tell you this, but in the real world, you do NOT want to play fair. You are going to do what you can to win. Because if you don't, you die. Perhaps a movie will help you imagine the situation. Think back to The Patriot. You have the redcoats saying that the militia is uncivilized and ungentlemanly because of the way they fight. Now just why in the hell would I stand in front of your gun so you can shoot me? The ONLY thing that is wrong, is the ability to log in and out so easily, switching servers at will. Its basically teleportation. You may or may not intend to do so. If I check an area out, see no one, enter the area, and THEN someone spawns into the game and sees me instantly to shoot me, then thats not very fair or realistic. But that is MUCH less likely to happen than someone who just happened to sneak up on me, or I just didn't catch him.

In other games I have moderated, we started to allow players to come back after a certain amount of time. Sooner if they admitted it. If they made us review the proof that they were cheating, the ban was longer (some were perma-bans). Long story short, 90% of the people we allowed back on, ended up cheating AGAIN. Not always right away, but ultimately....

Ha. Is it REALLY the players job to know exactly what is and isn't in the mod legitimately? I'd say not. If a player finds it, theres no reason to ban them if they use it. It needs to be proven that that player is the one who hacked it in somehow. The fact that the player USED it is NOT good enough.

lol hampton. Too bad you don't know which server it was. They deserve a reporting. After something like that, I would most certainly never play on that server again. But you have to know which one it was to avoid it. And then STILL make sure they get reported.

I've also been in a server where I was on mumble with a friend, and the "connected, disconnected, etc." thing happened. I asked him what he was doing. He said he was waiting, not clicking anything. Perhaps theres something more to it, as cm. has said, than just putting a paperweight on your enter button.
