I've given it a go, and I don't think I have what it takes. I got tired of trying to trust people, and constantly being stabbed in the back, so I adjusted my playing style. I decided that I'd just kill everyone I saw that I thought was even a very slight potential threat. It's so very easy to sneak up on a group of people and just annihilate them, it doesn't feel rewarding at ALL. It always just leaves me feeling like an asshole. How do you guys do it?

I come here to complaint.

Where are the cut scenes? Where are the on-rails-shooter sequences?! No kill streak perks!? This game is fucking lame! -
Friends are taking a brake.

Even installing manually was easy. I don't understand how everyone had such a hard time. -
Stealth / Zombie Dynamic - Constructive Criticism Thread
spacecraft replied to mtuckner's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree it needs to be tweaked, but I'm quite enjoying the changes right now. Instead of being sneaky, I just haul ass with 50 zombies behind me, run inside a building and prone as soon as I LoS them. Loses them every time. -
Which T-Shirt design would you buy?

#2. Looks fantastic. -
LOL. Was not expecting that. I haven't tried using a hatchet as a weapon yet. Still crawling across the country side looking for morphine. :/

Bandit's, I have a question for you.
spacecraft replied to billyangstadt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I don't think this ever happens. There is simply no reason for bandits to keep people alive. There needs to be something in place to make murdering less desirable. Something like for every murder' date=' zombies detect bandits 10 meters further away. Eventually the hardcore bandits will stick way outside of cities (like they would in real life) and any other bandits would try to rob people without killing. [/quote'] No..... just no. He is right about one thing though. There is absolutely no reason for a bandit to not just kill random people on sight. I'm not saying his solution is the way to go but giving total FPS Deathmatch kiddies the advantage isn't the answer either. I hope Rocket at the very least gives his heartbeat idea a try. At least that would make most people consider what they are doing before just pulling the trigger on some unsuspecting noob with only a flashlight. I don't think the heartbeat idea will work at all. Just earlier I was sniped from God knows where by some douche bandit. I had no clue where he was, and I was way the hell in the middle of nowhere. No, it needs to be something that actively affects the bandits so that they have an immediate consequence for their actions. ***** I made a thread over here to discuss the bandit problem: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=14203&page=2 Please refrain from commenting in it if you don't have any constructive input. -

Of course they do. They're not "bandits" they're deathmatching dipshits. They're still going to kill you and run around screaming "lol noob fkcing pwned u fag". That is what "bandits" do. -

DayZ has become Deathmatch / Team Deathmatch

I don't know why this seems to be getting worse, but it definitely is. 99% of the players I come across shoot first. Everyone is a fucking bandit now. Does anyone have good survival experiences anymore? Seems the only way to do it is run waaay out North and live like a fucking hermit. -
Well, I've been alive for a while now. Going on 10 days, and I have a crap ton of nice stuff. An ATV, Just about every equipment item you can have, a ghillie suit, silenced weapons, lots of ammo. I'm pretty kitted out. Unfortunately I've run out of bandages and am bleeding out. Never had a problem sneaking through a town of Z's until this patch. I know it's Alpha and I don't have any room to complain, but this is a pretty big bummer. Since 1.7.1 I can't even prone through cities. Zombies aggro from very far even when prone. LOS seems to not be working, and even if it did, how do you LOS zombies that run at 100m/s? I was so excited for this patch. Everything about it sounded great, but in execution it has totally ruined the game for me.

I guess people are just putting 1.7.1 and not actually updating their servers then. Also, a lot of servers said 1.7.1 but put a red X next to the name when I clicked it, and the "required version" text turned red. They all said required 1.6. Some servers said 1.7.1 in the title, said required 1.6 below, but didn't turn red when I clicked it. :/

Having the same issues, and I manually updated. I used the torrent in the swedish mirror link. When I run six updater it doesn't do anything. When I click "install or update game mods" I only get the CBA and ACE stuff.

To the 3 guys in the church I killed...
spacecraft replied to Omega (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My first reaction was "Wow, fuck this guy. What a douche." The more I thought about it however, the more I realized this guy is playing a bandit exactly how they should be played. He's not just a DM'ing douchenozzle, or killing people for no reason, he's playing like a dirty bandit who is just after loot. That's what a bandit does. Honestly I prefer people try to work together and avoid killing each other, but the game would get fairly dull without the threat of bandits. So kudos to you sir, kudos. -
One time game purchase (Totally willing to pay $60 for this) Studio developed. Community servers Kickstarter. No bullshit publisher overhead.

Retrievable throwing axe that sits in your pistol slot. It'd be too slow & cumbersome to try to take down a group of zombies. Basically, it'd be useless vs. any enemies that are aware of you, leaving it just useful for the occasional silent take down.

Re: Spawning without a Weapon - Reality Check
spacecraft replied to WilkyWilks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
With 1.7.1 and being able to lose zombies by LOS'ing them, the need for a weapon at first spawn is moot. You sneak into a small town to look for gear, attract a zombie, and have to go hide from it until it loses interest. To be honest the weapons serve little purpose other than mowing down the 30 zombies you pulled, or death matching with players. If anything, all weapons need to be MUCH more rare, and used as a last resort against hostile players. -
20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
spacecraft replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES I think this would add to the atmosphere greatly. However, it's super rare that you bump into someone close enough to detect this. -
I have a radio, but it does nothing. :P Picked it up off a weird group of NPCs I think a hacker spawned.
-
I have a feeling this whole thing is faked. :(

Something is up with the admins over on Dallas 47. They're changing the time speeds around, admin is slaying people, and there were a group of guys spawning items not attainable in DayZ (I think.) The players spawning stuff were named "Flute", "Shadow1226", and "Voltagex". We saw them fly over in a black hawk, and then they started spawning trucks in a field, and the black SUV. I heard it might have been these guys changing the times as well. Another weird thing my group found was a group of female civilians wearing head covers in a V formation on the road. We killed them all, and they had maps and radios on them. Never seen anything like that on a different server. I actually have footage of this, and I'll upload it later on.
