Yeah, you have to "stretch" the face width-wise using some paintshop tools, then you need to convert to a .paa to make it have less transluscence. The Armaholics site has the .paa converter.

I'm a noob as well. I'd practice a bit in Arma2 (go to the Single Player, Armory, (left-shift + minus sign then type GETALLGEAR) that'll let you practice with all of the weapons and vehicles. Then, use DayZ Commander, filter for DayZ Chernarus, and low numbers of people on the server (at night) and practice sneaking past zombies, using your inventory, looting buildings. Then, hop into a friendly server with Teamspeak and partner up with another player to go exploring. Just my opinion on easing into the experience.

Or on the handlebars... or better yet, have pegs onthe rear wheels and the 2nd player can stand on those!

Press Ctrl-Shift-Esc, find your mouse software executable, open the executable location. Then close the process, go where the executable is, right-click it and in properties go to compatibility. Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator". You will need to start it manually when you reboot from now on because it can't run as admin by itself on startup. Last night I turned to the dark(er) side of DayZ by delving into banditry. I wasn't actually intending to pick a "faction" but sometimes the fates (ahem) pick for you! So after having a black-sack (beam me up scottie) thrown over my head, I found myself in a quite nicely outfitted bandit base located just &@*= of £$¢=% and with a "band" (is that the correct group moniker?) of bandits who include, @#!+ and $%(+& and also *=/*$. Who, after hazing me with a live chicken (it was shameful) proceeded to their evening's mission which included some market raiding, and a dramatic helicopter kamikazee smash. I'm not exactly the most adept bandit, and the AS50 on my back would be more effective as a baseball bat than a deadly killing sniper device in my incapable hands, but we'll see how things play out. With some more practice, I might even learn how to get in to a vehicle in under 5 minutes!

Sounds like you've been having some fun first experiences already. Great. I haven't been held up (yet) and look forward to it. You were right to jump right in and buy the Arma2 and get playing, who knows when the standalone will be released (and quite frankly, all of the fun you're having right now is well worth the $30 outlay on Arma2. The AI are fun to interact with. I think if you walk up to a Hero AI they can bloodbag you. Also, you can log into the server even if everyone else is sleeping, and still have fun PvP action. In fact, not knowing how many friendlies, and bandits are on the server is exciting. You can't just "P" (check to see who is on the server) and think you'll be safe! Last night's jet flight bonanza was also a pleasant surprise that Admin Jeff treated us to at the NW Airfield. Now dogs! I wonder if he can introduce chiahuahas! Zombie kill'n chiahuahas!

How about being able to drink your own urine, just like Bear Grillis did in an episode in the desert. Though, instead of putting his pee in a canteen, he used a freshly killed snake as a container. Yummy.
