Dynamic Events, Play Dead, Radio, Reworked Gear and lots of other..
Techercizer replied to Delta-Dude's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No NPCs. None of them. -
People will just deny DayZ access to their mic, or hand exclusive control over to their TS, or dual boot, or emulate, or phone, or use another computer. How are people not getting the absolute hopeless stupidity that pervades this very concept? It's about as likely to happen as DayZ infallibly detecting when you're thinking mean thoughts about rocket or growing your hair "too" long.

Die 15 times and be locked out for 3 days! Die 20 times and be locked out for 97 days! It's fun! Somehow! Everyone will just quit. Nobody's coming back after a glitch sends them away for 3 months.

I will accept this suggestion only as long as all uncooked canned foods cause incurable poisoning due to the conditions they are consumed in, and the ability to find and gather firewood is removed (because gathering firewood doesn't actually reduce the number of trees, totally unrealistic)

Kronzky's SP "hack" removed (his words)
Techercizer replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Perhaps what we need, from reading this thread, with no disrespect intended to the persons I reference, is for armchair lawyers to stop sticking their heads in legal issues that don't concern them and that don't cause any problems or flamewars when no armchair lawyers are sticking their heads in them. -
If this was added in, even the most generous survivor would wind up facing 2+hour wait times after any decent period of playing. Nobody is going to play a game with that kind of built in wait. They'll just leave until it's removed.

OP claims to be a communications expert for the military, yet he is not only unable to communicate his idea to us without riddling it with grammar and spelling errors, he is actually dumb enough to suggest "hacking" into the computers of every Day Z user, and naive enough to think he can control what non-invasive programs users run alongside their game. Either OP is a lying five year old or I am deeply, deeply concerned about the state of his country's military.

Bandit Skin or something like that
Techercizer replied to xxnazgulxx's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The bandit skin system sucked and punished people for self defense. -1 The heartbeat system for extremely negative humanity sounds much better. It's not a giant mile-away neon sign. -
I'd like to see flies appearing around a corpse about 15-30 min after death. It should be there to help people track down nearby long-dead kills, but fresh kills should be silent and stealthy.

What's to stop anyone who wants to get into your base from just server-hopping into the middle of it and opening fire, then burning it all to the ground once you're dead? Artificial fortifications don't have much meaning in Day Z, and making large camps also makes you really visible (and from the implication that large camps mean large loot and large groups, a big target).

Humanity original fix - Rocket, give us a minute!
Techercizer replied to blackdawn101's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This really doesn't sound like it fixes the humanity problem at all. I just sounds like a hybrid between bandit skins and (to a lesser extend) rocket's heartbeat-means-killer system. -
Extension to one of Rocket's idea: Gear damage by gunfire
Techercizer replied to psycho84's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like how this presents a tradeoff between weapon power and effective looting. It makes every gun in Day Z have a place without actually upsetting the current situation of who uses what guns. Newbies will mostly use weak guns because that's all they can find, and they will have the added benefit of being able to supplement their own meager inventories with those of the people they kill (the costal bean wars continue!) Hunters will continue to snipe people from 500m with NVGs and DMRs, not giving a care in the world about what type of beans their newbie targets may have been holding. The real interesting change will occur amongst bandits who hunt for loot and survivors who are just trying to get by. Unloading on someone with an assault rifle will be more of an act of defense than an opportunistic try for loot, and I'd expect to see more hold-ups and robberies if this change was implemented. Perhaps most importantly, people who lose slow firefights will know that they at least had a chance to live, and people who instantly fall over dead in a gigantic clearing will know that their killer won't be getting much off their corpse. People who get randomly shot in the face will, as always, continue to be screwed. Such is life. -
The only survivors in Day Z are the players. If you want to see military convoys cleaning up players and zombies, get some friends and a Huey and go nuts.

Effects of Humanity and Super-Low Humanity, with Sociopaths!

Effects of Humanity and Super-Low Humanity, with Sociopaths!
Techercizer replied to xqnp7's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So every time you survive a firefight, if you don't make your character a serial bandit, you randomly become completely defenseless and a giant zombie magnet. This doesn't add consequences for murdering every player on sight with no exception, it leaves the game unchanged for those people and adds consequences for defending yourself WITHOUT frequently murdering others. If you're trying to turn this game into an even bigger deathmatch, this suggestion is amazing. Why would we want that, though? -

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Techercizer replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES I don't like how people can throw away their lives repeatedly just to respawn with guns and do it again. -
20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection
Techercizer replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES Personally, I'd like to see other ways low humanity could pan out, but this looks promising. -
Safe lockers needed! (bank vaults)
Techercizer replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm excited about your idea, and look forward to seeing it develop. I would suggest the following derivation of it though: Hell No. -
should there be regular resets on characters
Techercizer replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There is not so much issue with rockets mod' date=' just with the attitude of people on the forums who insist on knowing whats right for the game while defending the punishment of every playstyle other than deathmatch, and while using 3rd party software communication to deny ingame interaction and using tents to circumvent permadeath. They're simply not in the position to yell at other people who make suggestions, which is what is happening in this thread. [/quote'] I just can't believe we're cresting 13 pages of this vitriolic back-and-forth. It was an idea. I think it was a really dumb one. Why do we need to go on and on about it? If you don't like it, don't give it the time of day. If you do like it, hope it gets implemented. Either way, flamefests solve nothing. This thread is far more about massive internet warrior brawls than actual game discussion, and has been for some time. -

Makalov zerglings cause a lot of problems for people who actually try to immerse themselves in Day Z and enjoy the atmosphere, and while I can't really say it's a "wrong" way to play or anything, can't you get the same run-gun-and-die FPS experience in a variety of other games without causing so much disruption? Games like, say, ArmA? Or Wasteland, even? One of the things that really sets Day Z apart from other gaming experiences is the quite large amount of fucks it causes people to give. There are plenty of alternatives for people of differing dispositions, and atmospheric survival-horror isn't for everyone.
