Heading north(airfields) ? vs."I´m nearly done with Day Z"
disgruntled replied to timedance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You've fallen into the trap of coveting your gear and aged character so much you've made it boring. Get your character killed and get back on the coast as a fresh spawn. You have nothing to lose then and that's usually more fun. -
will this laptop run dayz?
disgruntled replied to samsquantch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It will run it but I wouldn't expect everything on very high settings -
Probably Done playing DayZ Forever Until This awful bug is fixed....
disgruntled replied to leviski's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hope this helps: the issue is a combination of lag and how the server database is coping. When a player dies their database file is written off as dead and a new file is created for the new life. If that doesn't happen or gets lost in internet land then the "dead" character is stuck in limbo till it catches up. Same issues in Arma 3!! Strikes me that BIS have given the same engine a glossy coat of paint and not much else (other than a map which needs a lot more optimisation) -

Yep happened to me last week. Put an entire clip of pdw in his head before he decided to die. It's a combination of overloaded server and database, bad net code, bad net and bad pc. You'll be pleased to know this happens in arma 3 as well....good job BIS!!! Same engine, same bugs just looks pretty pffft -
Not really. You would be better off with new cpu, mobo and ssd. Or just buy everything new, your pc is old. I wish BIS would be honest on recommended specs. DayZ and arma 3 specs should say Skynet or super computer. Would save time for the people expecting their shitty laptops that struggle with the Sims 3 let alone these cpu chugging things

Agreed...he used to be against it but that grass is loooooooooww

What DayZ really is - A jogging simulator

Years ago on my speccy 128k playing turbo esprit a minor prang at a junction meant a 20 minute tape deck reload... Kids today eh -
Spent an hour crawling round Balota medical tents. Nobody told me there's bugger all in them

I like running with a small group but I prefer to loot on my own. I see it as preparation for our next game

Next update: floating Pandora trees!

This is the things, mods can't really say anything in these threads as they have the game, we don't. When you talk about Rocket being misquoted: he does so many interviews and in every one his answers vary to the same questions. I really do hope that vehicles are awesome...maybe we can even drive them on docks!!! As for BIS...whilst they've been extending the release date indefinitely they're also pumping out Arma3 and Take on Mars. Not enough manpower on the project in my opinion.

Your Opinion on Dayz Standalone Progress So Far (Gamescom)
disgruntled replied to shadowboxer (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes heard that also. What about the ones without a Mic? The progress so far looks good but I have to agree with another thread...is the game in danger of becoming overly complicated? This has positive and negative repercussions: The more complicated the less likely the casual crowd will stick with it. Said crowd includes the KOSers, the ones who NEED a pickup as running 1.2k is just too much for them etc... But that crowd also includes the decent folk who have kids, jobs and so on. If it takes several months to get your head round all the medical and crafting possibilities you are going to have to be very dedicated to the game as not being can mean you are at a disadvantage to others with more time on their hands to pickup new systems and techniques (and no doubt exploits). With the mod there's a lot to learn but it's mostly what not to due to glitches (deleting items in your gear by accident...things like that). The magazine loading of individual bullets - are we expected to do all that in a tense firefight? -
No offence mate but it sounds like you need to work on your game with regard to zeds. Firing an M14 at one is a bad move

As it stands the text is more immersion breaking than the old hud as it takes up more of the screen. Also when you have a full server and side chat is blowing up won't you miss some of these text prompts? -
You must have not used start parameters/optimized. I have 3770k, 120ssd, 16gb ram and 780 sc acx. On high settings, full shadows and atoc (but no AA or PP) dayz is perfectly playable, I have seen 205fps from it (this was whilst in a huey). Cherno and elektro still drop it to 40-50 and even skynet couldn't handle Sabina

Why does crap like this exist?
disgruntled replied to OfficerRaymond's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some base destroying trolls join our server. I'm rolling with recently met friends. One of those is very vocal about his IT ability and general net savvyness. Argument ensues over said base destruction. Trolls end up quoting /b/ stating their names as jimmy russell. Net 'savvy' friend actually believes this guy is called Jimmy Russell and states he will search for them on fb etc. have to explain the error of his ways to him. All of my facepalm When a troll runs out of original material they usually end up quoting 4chan. At this point respond with "go back to /b/". Works half the time -
He's asking for cars on a server which resets them every hour....
-
Why did you start playing DayZ
disgruntled replied to Skypill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Followed the /vg/ thread on 4chan for several months. Bought pc and arma. Logged on and clutched my beans -
I've played there, not a good server. Was riddled with voip on side, one player asked for his car repairing so Ed restarted it and fixed everything whilst I was there. He then started flying round doing the medic...tried to bait him but he didn't come

I've got it all to fit in this http://www.coolermaster.co.uk/product.php?product_id=6650 however my case has no side fan, not a problem for you using water cooling but would be for me with your case as i have used a http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=449 that cooler is huge, i'm sure my mobo will eventually bow -
a SIMPLE guide to getting the most FPS
disgruntled replied to GrumpyGat (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
one thing that hasn't been said is getting an ssd drive. this is probably a bit cheaper than new gpu/cpu. this helps with load times especially approaching big cities...however sabina laughs in the face of fast i/o :D the other option would be to load up as much of the game as possible on a ramdisk, you need at least 2+gb ram to spare for this i just went from asus 660ti 2gb to evga 780 sc acx this week. 20-30 fps increase in all areas, have turned some more up to very high rest of rig: i7 3770k @ stock 3.5 16gb gskill @ 1600 120gb ssd drove into elektro in v3s on busy server earlier, as i went past hospital and office junction i saw 23 fps from fraps haha -
you need a complete new pc. a sempron oh dear
