Last time I spawned at the wrong place I jumped off a cliff, broke my legs, crawled around to find rags, craft a stone knife, got some sticks, crafted a splint, fixed my fracture, and went right back to the cliff to kill myself. Why? Because I spawned on the opposite side of the map from my friend.

So hard to find mosin/attachments, or is it me?
James Hawke replied to Leo Harrison's topic in New Player Discussion
Mosins don't seem particularly rare to me. I carry one and I've come across several others. I suppose you're just unlucky. -
Yup, makes sense. Though they need to fix the line of sight thing, too. If a zombie loses sight of you, it should follow you on the route where it saw you last, giving you the chance to get into a house, close the front door, and sneak out back. The way it is right now, if you do that, the zombie will just run around the house because he knows exactly where you are.

My friends shoot anyone who is geared ...
James Hawke replied to EvilTigerAce's topic in General Discussion
I only had one encounter since the release of 0.49 and that was only "friendly" because I had a gun on the guy. I told him to just pick a direction and go, I wouldn't follow. He went away. My gun was not loaded. xD -
Loot spawns - anyone else frustrated?
James Hawke replied to johnny0964 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I just went through the Vybor military base and came out with an AKM, a drum mag and two 30 round mags. Additionally I have a 30 round aftermarket mag and 40 rounds of spare ammo. Hell I don't even know what to do with that stuff... -
Loot spawns - anyone else frustrated?
James Hawke replied to johnny0964 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Haha... the first time I played this patch I was frustrated about not finding any proper clothes! Or food! xD I don't give a damn about the AKM. I was happy to find two Mosins for me and my friend. And plenty of ammo for other guns in case I find any. Assault rifles should be hard to come by. -
I find the Longhorn rather useless, especially at close range, as it has only one shot. You'd have to make it count. With the sawed-off Mosin at least you'd have five warning shots and one well-aimed toss :P

"Other Player Near" messages suggestion
James Hawke replied to Cliff_beefkake's topic in Suggestions
Sorry, I think that's a bad idea. "I think someone else is near"? That would tell snipers when someone's sneaking up on them. It would tell people in buildings when someone's passing by on the street, although they'd realistically have no way of knowing that. You could just as well call it "I think my spider-sense is tingling..." xD For the other one, what if someone has killed a lot of people solely in self defense? Would he appear untrustworthy to you? And how can you tell from the looks of a person that he has killed people? Doesn't make much sense realistically. -
New NE airstrip civilian Terminal. Bye ATC tower?
James Hawke replied to chompster's topic in General Discussion
I like this. The map is way too militarised already. -

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
James Hawke replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
It usually works, but not always. I had a zombie on my tail yesterday, ran into a house and closed both entrances. The zombie stood outside first, but suddenly he stood behind me, which was unfortunate... -
For supporting the development of the game and testing it while it's being developed.

Awww.... the suspense was killing me. That guy deserved to die xD

No one want to play because of the reset...
James Hawke replied to kircheschm's topic in General Discussion
I'm playing nearly everyday with my buddy. We don't care much that it's all for nought because we're used to dying ^^ -
GREEN MOUNTAIN PRANK GONE WRONG...THREE TIMES
James Hawke replied to Toperek1990 (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Lmao, fail all the way xD -
Do you have a fracture? The status "My leg/arm is painful"? Do you have a stock on your gun? xD
-
Well don't randomly help people kill zombies. Especially if they are armed.

Starting to think I'm too nice of a player.
James Hawke replied to OptimumVision's topic in General Discussion
I'm definitely still too nice... Today I was on the way to the NWAF with my buddy and we got a bit lost. We found a little town, walking in, suddenly a quite well geared player stepped out on the street. Vest, camo clothes, AK whatever, what have you... My friend and me raised our guns, we had an M4 and AK ourselves. I started just talking to the guy, asked him if he's friendly, he said yes, and put his gun away. Well what else would he do, he wasn't exactly in a position to start a firefight and get away with it. I didn't want to shoot the guy, I had no particular reason to, even though he seemed to have some gear I could use. I asked him if he knew the name of the town we were in. His English was bad, as he said himself, and he said he didn't know what the name of the town was. (Later I'd find out it was Lopatino) I said bye, he said bye, he went on running down the road. Not being that naive, my friend and me didn't let him out of our view all the way down the road. We saw him go left, into the forest, then right, back over the street, following the tree line, all the way back up to Lopatino - Where he originally came from. He was clearly trying to get the drop on us while we were looting the town. As we weren't interested in a firefight, we went the opposite way. I should've shot the guy when I had the chance... -
Well, an average gas tank of a moped holds, I guess 3-5 litres of gasoline. Considering it's a 50cc engine in there it doesn't exactly need much. Many cars can easily go 100km with 6 litres of fuel. If I had a moped that goes 7 miles with a full tank, I'd trash that thing and get a new one. Hell, I wouldn't even make it to the edge of town with that range :D My brother had a more modern 50cc scooter, and I used it often enough to drive to my friend, who lived about 10km away from me. I made that trip there and back four times before I had to consider refueling.

I owned some mopeds when I was younger, and 7 miles is... well... hilarious. Around 40-60km is a normal range... or rather, a minimum.

Positive posts only: what feature are you looking forward to
James Hawke replied to aviza's topic in General Discussion
Perfectly working, menacing, diverse and numerous zombies. -
Hi, I have had a few more suggestions in my head these days, so I'm just gonna spit them out... The ability to wear shirts, hoodies and jackets at the same time. It is illogical to wear only a jacket over your naked chest if you want to keep warm and I have yet to meet a person in his right mind to do that. It would also make for more storage space without the need of a backpack or a vest. Or maybe if you enable us to wear a shirt or a hoodie under a jacket, or a shirt under a hoodie, you could make it so you can only use half the normal slots of the lower piece of clothing but all the slots of the upper one. Or let us use all the slots, I don't know. Expand the map to have more space for wilderness and cities. Yes, the map is quite big already, but it could be bigger... always bigger ;) Add a city that actually has the proportions of a real city or something at least remotely close to that. I know, Novodmitrovsk is big if you see it in relation to the other collections of huts and small houses that for some reason qualify to even have names in this game, but even so, the size of Novo would at best be considered a small to normal sized town in reality. I'd like to see a city so vast I could get lost in the nooks and crannies, a city where you could land on the helipad of the local hospital without people on the edge of town having the ability to be on the spot within thirty seconds, and most importantly, a city so chock full of zombies that you wouldn't dare enter it, weren't the loot so nice. I'd like to see new buildings, and modern ones. I don't exactly know how many models of buildings we have in this game currently, but they don't seem particularly numerous. I know exactly what buildings to ignore because they never spawn any loot, and every small town on the map looks pretty much the same by now (of course, I'm not talking about layout here). I want new buildings, modern buildings, bigger buildings... While I like that in comparison to the mod you can enter pretty much any building, I find it peculiar that all of the doors are open. You could smash in or pry open a closed door with crow bars, axes, pickaxes, what have you... Or kick a door in... or whatever. When it comes to the act of base-building (I know it's a far ways off but even so...), I thought it would be nice to use the shovel/pickaxe to be able to dig a hole, and then maybe close it up with a wooden board, camouflages with some grass and leaves and stuff... That would give you a small, hard to find base, that doesn't require you to go anywhere near a house. So... that's just what I had in mind.

Good one. I had thought about having actual rivers as well, but I forgot about it at some point :D

Haha... exceptions confirm the rule, I'd say xD
