    Thinking about what is causing the problem never hurt anyone. It would be more beneficial to someone who doesn't know anything about computers or modding to fiddle with what's going on. It'll really help them in the long run rather than them coming on the forums and getting spoon fed information and they keep encountering similar problems over and over again not only in DayZ, but in other aspects of computing and possibly real life. It can help them build skill sets that they can apply later. Who do you think game developers and people who write the VBS engine code go to when they have problems? No one, they try to figure it out themselves (at least I would assume so). Time to put your big-boy pants on and figure it out on your own. Should I really care if I'm being an ass? No.

    Yeah, this seems to happen to Steam users a lot also since they shift+tab out. Causes problems when typing in chat where it auto selects your words for you - pressing tab fixes this. Make sure before you alt+tab out you press escape, pull out your map, etc. so you don't shoot your friends when you alt+tab back in. Thanks, it's something along the lines of that in-game.

    How Steam interacts with your ArmA2 and DayZ files: You made a couple of changes to your Steam download, which help you run DayZ without jumping through a bunch of hoops (assuming you did it this way) -You added an extension line (-mod=@dayz -nosplash) to your ArmA2 and OA (Combined Operations) executables, which ran the DayZ mod whenever you launched ArmA2 from Steam However, when you update your beta patches for ArmA2:OA and launch ArmA from steam, you are not launching with the new beta executables. This is because ArmA has two different .exe's when you install the beta patch. Steam does not know about this second .exe. You need to make Steam run the second executable (AngryJonny's way), or you can by-pass Steam and just create your own launch shortcut. I use the latter. To run ArmA2 beta without messing around with your Steam client: Go to Desktop Right click->new->text document Paste the code shown below into a file Name and save the file as "ArmA2 CO Beta - DayZ.cmd" Run DayZ from this file because it's easier than what AngryJonny posted ????     I've read this whole thread and most of it has to do with people who don't understand how to run their game without SixUpdater, which is a horrible program, by the way. They don't understand how to run ArmA beta patch files and how to start up CO outside of Steam. Not sure if people are too lazy and decide to just blurt out crap on the forums or if they are legitimately stupid.

    *Facepalm* IR = Thermal For all points intended within the ArmA engine, Thermals and IR are different. TWS and AWS give different colors so I was just trying to keep it simple. I understand your facepalm lol.

    Wow, this is probably the worst thread I have seen on this forums. I honestly cannot tell if OP is plain spoiled, retarded, or mean as fuck because he can't get what he wants. Anyways, I'll weigh in. I live in the country. I have both shitty internet and when storms hit I lose power often. In my area this winter 10,000 people were without power for 5 days. No big fucking deal, right? It would make a lot more sense to move to a big town so I can play video games 24/7 like OP, but I don't have that big of a hard-on for video games. I do still play a lot though. And I can bet you even because of my poor internet performance, I can still mop your ass up in DayZ and vanilla ArmA2. And it seems like no one actually fucking thinks about these "OMG LOGOUT TIMER WTF ROCKET?!!?!" threads. People have real lives. Wouldn't it be better for a logout timer to say have a 30 second timer that when you initiate, you can still move around until that timer runs out and logs you out? Anyone who disagrees with this is an obvious exploiter. OP is ridiculously butthurt. This thread is megafail. Your father would be disappointed in you OP.

    I've heard that disabling one of your cards will give you slightly better performance as SLi does not like ArmAII, which is not BI's fault, but in fact is Nvidia's. Edit: Try disabled post processing and HDR see what happens.

    1.8 meters is the number that almost all military scopes base their ranging on. I assume that zombies are not mutated in any way pertaining to their height so 1.8 meters would be safe to use for both humans and zombies.

    I have found about 30 different crash sites. None of them are on that map. It is random to my knowledge and there is no way to predict where a crash will be. They can be almost anywhere.

    I was thinking of a way to make bases a lot less common if they were introduced into the mod. Maybe have a skill book (masonry, carpentry, etc) that spawns and you can carry in your equipment inventory and it allows you to build certain things based off of what skill sets you have. So you would need both the skill book and the materials to build.
