Why can't this give me more fps?

Actionman, it's done something weird to my game. There was ocean water clipping through my screen and I was getting around 200-250 fps, but it looked really bad. I also joined a game and the fps was even worse, around 15-20. So, I undid all the launch commands. Charb, I get around 20-30 fps on high-ish settings, 1920x1080 resolution and 3D resolution.. Some of the settings I set on high barely impact fps than it was set to low. I'm guessing this is called a bottleneck. I'm not gonna overclock my cpu for safety reasons. My processor and motherboard are around 6-7 years old, and I dont have a liquid cooler system. I guess I'm doomed lol. Anyways, thank you all for your help. :*(...

Why can't this give me more fps?

Thanks a bunch for the heads up, Welch! Now, does anyone have a solution for my fps problem?
  3. I'm a very new player to Dayz. I started playing today as of Tuesday, March 26, 2013. I will be checking back at this topic frequently, so please don't feel discouraged to post even if it's a few days after this post. Anyways, here's my problem. I've heard of a very effective method that a lot of people have been using with ArmA 2's config file located at C:\Documents\ArmA 2. The method is to simply change the values from... GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; to... GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; ...And that's exactly what I did. However, it gave me absolutely no fps boost. I have a GTX 560 Ti with the latest driver version. I went to Nvidia's control panel and selected Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames to 1. I launched the game and there was no fps changes, I changed the value to 4 for the next attempt, but still no fps changes. The Maximum Pre-Rendered Frames setting has "Use the 3D Application Setting" option and values 1-4. There is no "0" for this setting (been removed long time ago). So, unless I'm doing something wrong....I don't know. I'm just so confused and want to play so bad. It's the whole reason why I bought ArmA 2: Combined Operations. Here are my system specs: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4ghz Nvidia Gtx 560 Ti 5GB of RAM Windows 7 HALP
