2 and a half years and it still runs badly. how long is needed? 3 years? 4 years? 5? the money and the product do not correlate. you can keep calling it alpha until the year 2020 if you want it wont alter the facts.

Hi there. I recently re downloaded dayz and fired it back up to see how things were getting along. its been a year and a half or there abouts since I last played. hewre are my thoughts. positives: map is very full of new content in terms of areas, towns, features and overall chern is a much more vivid and richer environment items and crafting seem to be pretty well fleshed out. theres a good array of clothing, items and weapons. Animations are nice.. very nice. SKS especially. the game looks,feels and perfoms really well on my system. negatives: Not sure how the current loot spawn system works but spawn areas and many areas of the map are infested with hats, shirts and various other guff and not much else. northern areas seem richer its as though spawning of loot is not evenly distrubuted in relation to play activity. infected.. none... animals only saw a group of deer once in about 9 hours play. I hear that animals and infected are removed and will be in the next patch( still pretty bad that theres literally nothing to do other than collect hats and shirts :P) overall game feels polished yet very empty right now. perhaps I got unlucky with my timing coming back still if you look at SA from an outside perspective games have been made from scratch, flourished and died in the time that SA has had to develop. I will no doubt faff about a bit for a couple of days then uninstall it and come back after christmas. fallout 4 is out now and i reckon falllout 5 will be out before SA is the finished article. :rolleyes:

arma 3 dayz mod has taken me away. probably never to return.

Its what you might call a mess.

So lets assume then that once loot re=spawning comes in to the alpha server hopping wont be as much of an issue or even ''the'' issue. It will be farming that is the issue. I have done it and im sure others have too. The thing I remember from the mod is that on busy or remotely busy servers it is a dangerous game and on empty servers its pointless if your guy is atached to that server ( I played private hives.) unless you want to wander around the map alone.. So do we know what will happen r.e. servers? Ive no idea. If we end up with private servers or with non private where your guy is attached to that server then I dont see farming being a major issue. A larger time delay between loot cycles and/or some kind of cycle detection based on a proximity could fix that ( ive no idea how that code would be written) If we still end up with the server hopping issue keeping the time penalties as they are but increasing duration would probably be the best option. I cannot think of any other solution that wouldnt otherwise detract from the core of the loot mechanics.

Well if this is the case those infecteds need to eat and they need to eat often. Not only that but they need to keep warm.... or they die fast! like i said its a game thankfully. Documenttation of diseases that involves subjects displaying similar symptoms exist. Dont eat thier brains!!!!

I understand the need for a story here. I really would liek some in depth back story we could hunt in the map. maybe some book strewn around or a diary of a scientist green mountain!!! anyhow it is a game and trying to reason the biology will only result in madness.

I see your point but how would that help... any big city can then spawn any item so people just server hop from ellektro to ellektro or cherno to cherno.
