Congratulations to those new to the server that have completed the "It's My Money, and I Want It Now!!" event. If you are brand-new to the server, just make your way to the Stary Sober Trader and type "It's My Money, and I Want It Now!!" in Side-Channel. DayZ Epoch has turned what was Vanilla into the best multiplayer tactical survival game on the market; DayZ Epoch http://dayzepoch.com is a modification of DayZ set in a future time after the Great Infection.. Just check it out. The only thing it can't do is fix the zombie pathing, but that is off-set with the very broad value of greater player-influenced game-play mechanics and dynamic missions, building, crafting, trading, etc.

I dont play Vanilla anymore since it really doesn't have the breadth and depth of sand in the sandbox, but playing on an advanced server with a host of addons has what the OP has suggested already. DayZ Epoch is set in a future time after the Great Infection. Humanity is slowly returning to the wasteland, industrious survivors have begun to join together in small groups and rebuild society. Small camps of merchants have started to pop up to do business with survivors who collect goods from the wasted remnants of civilization. Wholesalers have landed on the shores offering imported goods to aid the rebuilding effort. Dynamic missions exist (Cargo Plane crash, Bandit Supply run to intercept, etc.) that the competitive and fortunate can accomplish, while infection still remain and rogue bandits still roam the countryside preying on unsuspecting survivors. Base-building, amonst other things, is one of the favorite features.

I don't go through steam at all anymore, so as mentioned before, depending on your access-route to servers, I too use DayZ Commander http://www.dayzcommander.com/
