My honest opinion of Day Z (And message to the creator)
Mercury (DayZ) replied to d4rk51d3x's topic in New Player Discussion
Carebear carebear whine whine blanket insult carebear carebear. Yawn. Clearly DayZ isn't your game, so instead of ruining a perfectly amazing game to suit yourself, you quit. Awesome. Win-win. -
Good stuff.

Survivors underpowered?
Mercury (DayZ) replied to Shadowbeing's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The reason it's so important to have freedom is that it makes the people who do the right thing all the more righteous and remarkable, just like real life. If you don't see that, this is not the game for you. -
So are there now gangs of armed Bandits hunting defenseless Survivors?
Mercury (DayZ) replied to Never's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dude, people totally give a shit. Look at all the carebear sobbing on this forum! "Boohoo, I didn't have anything and someone killed me. I'm so upset about this!" or worse yet "I finally got all the perfect gear I wanted with help from my clan and now that I'm dead, the game's not fun anymore!" Makes me happy. -

I genuinely believe they're bad enough players that they think the zeds are "overpowered." -
That thing you can't find
Mercury (DayZ) replied to damonxwind's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
NVGs for me too. I've never seen them in-game. And camo. I found camo once and within two minutes, some random guy shot me in the back before I could even put it on. So he got it since it was still in my inventory. Sigh. For the past three or so lives, I've had the damndest time finding matches, of all things. I keep sloshing around all this raw meat with no way to cook it. -

I've barely even seen other people on the beach when I spawn, and I usually play full-capacity servers. -

The numbers that Rocket speaks about and publishes on the front page in no way indicate that DayZ is "flat out deathmatch." The end. -
I'd really like you to man the fuck up and accept responsibility for your actions instead of whining about rules. You are allowed to keep trusting people, and you are allowed to be the scourge you claim to hate. Choice makes the game great, not soft squishy corners. You miss the point of this game by such a massive margin. Quit if you don't like PvP. Just... leave. Go. Take your carebear, hypocrite friends with you. Rocket's not going to change it. Ever. He's said so. Get over it. These threads are useless.

[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
Mercury (DayZ) replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yes, please never ever publish k/d ratios, accuracy, or any of that crap. This is a game about story, not about "my metrics r higher durr durr." -

Can't see other people's direct communication chat
Mercury (DayZ) replied to Dogar's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I'm having lots of similar issues with direct chat. I can type in it, but others don't see it and I don't see theirs. Same deal: running latest beta patch and latest DayZ version. -
Yes! Opeth! \m/ Back on topic, what's this about holding wounds slowing bleeding? You'd basically need to be standing still to do that in a realistic way, but I think it'd be a good idea.

You know, I'm a big believer in Rocket's words (see basically anything I've posted on these forums for proof of that) but I played the Chernarus Apocalypse map (which isn't even a full mod) and the zombies there run at players in straight lines. And they're terrifying and dangerous as fuck. I live way longer in DayZ than I do in CA. I don't know if it actually is an engine restriction. Maybe it's something Rocket's doing to make the game harder? I'd prefer them to run in straight lines, personally. Makes them more animalistic, brainless, and in some cases, much more dangerous.

I play solo 95% of the time, and I don't support this change. It's already unrealistic enough that a gunwound can be healed, even slowly, just by eating a bunch of steak and canned pasta. Maybe... MAYBE have health regenerate like 50 points per hour. In real life, a gunshot wound in the wilderness is at worst certain death (due to infection, if not outright organ failure) and at best permanently disabling (even a shoulder graze would leave gnarly scar tissue that would ache and affect your strength).

Do Choppers Respawn Loot?
Mercury (DayZ) replied to The Hedgehog's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They're prime looting zones; you probably missed the window 'cause someone else came along and grabbed the gear. -
Love the eyepatch idea, but in keeping with the Arma2/DayZ spirit, it'd need to affect your field of view, like in Metal Gear Solid 3:
