In my experience, due to the buggy nature of tents in general, it's a good idea to place a tent and then wait for a server restart before you place anything valuable into it. this is not always a necessary step, but in cases like yours it may have made a difference. I've had plenty of tents save items on the first use, but I've had many tents fail to save items the first time I used it (and many cases where the tent itself disappeared on the first reboot). Tents are broken for the most part. You should expect things like this to happen, and as you have found, they often do.

Personally, I think the in game server browser is shit. Use one of the third party options like DayZ Commander (my personal choice) or Six (I fucking hate Six with all my soul). Either of them are easily better than the in game server browser.

It's a risk you take when placing a tent in a tree. Plenty of times though, I've been able to find a sweet spot (just a few pixels where you can go prone and get lined up just right to get the access icon to pop up) sometimes it can take quite awhile to find it (just go prone and move very slowly while rolling your mousewheel back and forth) and other times you are just SOL . Still worth the risk in my opinion as well hidden tents are much more secure. I also had one tent which I could access just fine for a few days but each time I rebooted my server it moved just a bit down the hill and further into the tree until eventually I could no longer access it. Luck of the draw with tents. You can only hope for the best and just deal with it when things don't work out.

Click your name up at the top right and then click MY SETTINGS > NOTIFICATION OPTIONS. From there you can set all of the details for how and when the forum will notify you about forum activity.

You probably heard some info from the 1.7.2.5 version when vehicles were reset to their original spawn location / broken state EVERY time the server was restarted. If you are playing on 1.7.2.6 then that info is no longer correct. With the exception of tents / vehicles occasionally failing to spawn after server reboot (happens with all build #'s) vehicles are saving properly now . It's a big problem on the forums that people post all kinds of information but rarely bother to mention which version of the game they are talking about, which leads to confusion such as yours. This could be easily avoided if people would take an extra 3 seconds to mention which version they are currently bitching about...

It happens randomly on restart. I no longer play DayZ, but each day when I reboot my server I usually log into the game at one of my old tents just to make sure the tents / vehicles loaded. Sometimes it takes 1 or more reboots to get them to load into the game. If possible, you should get contact info for your server admin so you can inform him when tents / vehicles fail to load so he can do a restart.

At one point the devs claimed that they were tracking pretty much everything that happens in the game (and I'm inclined to believe them). What they have not done, is share much of that data with the public, probably a smart move considering how much scrutiny they are getting from certain other game devs, but I reckon they have absolutely mountains of data. They talked quite a bit about this back in early May. At the time they were talking about dedicating a website to in depth player stats, it seemed to be a very important item on the agenda and I seriously doubt that has changed much. Hopefully, they will cut loose some of the data during standalone alpha and not make us wait until standalone retail for all the gory details...

I just did some googling on this problem and I've found that if you have a proper system, that there is some kind of a volume control. Don't ask me how to find it though, it's all mysterious and shit...still looking in to this. I'll post more if I can work it out.

So you were able to play fine previously? If so, think about anything which you might have done with your system or game files since the last time it worked.

Check http://www.southcoastbeanwars.com , they have a height map of chernarus. They used to have several but many of them have been taken down. You can still find the others on google images with a bit of digging...

You can also use Operation Arrowhead with Arma 2 free version, but you get lower res textures and a bit of a hassle to install it. CO is the best way to go in my opinion.

Best idea I can offer is get rid of that crap Six Updater and go download DayZ Commander. I have a friend who swears by Six Updater, but it seems like every other time he uses it his installation gets fucked. Go figure....
