    @ SeptusCap I was just watching a playthrough video with Rocket taking TotalBiscut out on his first DayZ life (was actually kind of funny to watch rocket playing his own game). Anyway, as they found a dead player rocket said "you can investigate and find out more about the person......ahhhhh, no he's been dead too long" so I would assume that that information is available for a very short time and then changes to something generic.

    Is Balota usually camped?

    It's hit and miss really. Are you feeling lucky? I've probably been through Balota Airfield a hundred times without seeing anyone. I've also died quite a few times there.
  4. To be honest I HATED it when the starting weapon was removed, but it turns out that what I actually hated was the broken super senses the zombies had. Now that that has all been ironed out it's really not that big of deal to grind a bit for a weapon. A few days ago I would have said HELL YES! Now I'm not sure I ever want that makarov back...
  5. I don't know about you guys but when I climb a steel rung ladder on the side of a building, I dont sound like an epileptic drummer wielding a couple of wooden spoons... I know the current sounds are just placeholders but the noise of climbing a ladder completely wrecks any chance of a stealth PVP encounter. Lemme give you an example. Balota Airfield at the control tower. Most servers I've been on have had barbed wire strung across the stair entrance. No problem, I'll just climb the ladder. But with the racket climbing ladders makes, there is absolutely no chance of a stealth attack on the occupants/bandits holed up inside (unless I am completely wrong and other players do not hear the same racket I hear as I'm climbing up). A bit more stealth would greatly increase the PVP aspect of the game. Leave zombie awareness as it is, it's a great mechanic. But could we test out toning down what other players hear just a bit? It could make succesfully sneaking into a bandit groups position SOOO rewarding... Just a thought.

    Self Administered Blood Packs

    Animals have been significantly increased in the latest patch. I've only played a few hours since updating and have seen them all over in the fields. I would assume thats why they were added, to support the lone wolf players (myself included). I could go either way on this, but I really dont see much of a problem now that animals are more abundant.

    Have you thought about what a juggernaught a small squad comprised of all the classes would be? It's kind of a cool idea but I fear it could completely unbalance the game once people figured out how to exploit the different classes.

    Well I know one thing that should make you happy. Rocket has said that the way the engine is set up, that it should only take about one hour to convert DayZ to any other existing Arma 2 map. I figure it is only a matter of time...

    Anywhere I go, I cannot place a tent

    I've placed a few tents in the same locations where I have succesfully placed them before and even then it can be a challenge to find the right pixel to place them on but it can be done. I think most people are giving up too easily though. The last tent I placed was in the same spot as I've used before, it took about 20 tries to get it down. Sure it sucks for now, but all I'm saying here is dont just try one time on a spot, try it, move a few inches, try it and repeat. Sooner or later you'll hit the sweet spot. Hell I've seen tents on 30 degree slopes before so its a matter of persistence. If you give up easily, you would probably be better off waiting for a fix.

    So if the guy happens to play on a no tags tags server and the chat is disabled, exactly how would anyone even know if they shot him right in the face? Am I missing something here?

  13. I keep seeing conflicting information about installing the Arma 2 Beta patch. Most of the tips/guides I have seen only cover installing the beta for the FIRST time. Other posts I have seen say to uninstall an old beta version before installing a newer one (yet the beta notes say it CANNOT be uninstalled). I'm a bit hesitant to just install the new beta over top of the old one but I also dont want to reinstall the whole game if it's not necessary to do so. Sorry for my confusion here but could anyone clarify this for me? Thanks.
  14. @Castle Right, but I'm hoping some of the things on the list will encourage everyone to upgrade to the latest beta (93961) instead of the required beta (as of today 93825). All of these fractured beta versions of servers is becoming a pain in the ass.
  15. Keep in mind that many of the smaller server limits are there because they are not a dedicated server. Personally, I have found the smaller non-dedicated servers to be a sub-par experience compared to the 50 slots .

    I LOVE DayZ...........But....

    Look, did it ever occur to you guys (by that I mean the forum in general) that Rocket has just been dying to crank up the difficulty and then just observe what happens? People are reacting as if the current settings are set in stone. To be honest I preferred it better before the changes, but until ROCKET decides where to leave the stealth settings we will just have to wait and see. That is all we get in the matter.

    Question: Can tents be retracted?

    Actually, Redz is wrong about that. The owner of a tent can re-pack and move the tent for as long as THAT character is still alive. Once the character which placed the tent dies though, it can no longer be moved by anyone. Here, this may help you with tents a bit..... COPIED FROM DAYZWIKI: That last statement is false (at least as of patch 1.7). Tents do not currently disappear after you die, however you do lose your ability to pack up the tent and move it. Rocket has stated that he eventually has plans for tents to be removed by the server a couple of days after you have died (presumably giving you time to "make arrangements" or whatever for your items). Personally , I prefer the way it is now, just having that small bit of persistence adds a lot more enjoyment to my game.
  18. Still not up (Seattle - Anti-Sardine Alliance servers) Guatalian shut down the original Seattle server after soliciting donations from the player base. It's possible that they have simply been renamed or transfered to a new admin who changed the names. Equally possible his server bill came due and he just didnt have the stomach for it. I believe he was running Seattle 2, 3, 4, 5. None of which are available. Looking for any announcement on this forum but have not found any.
  19. Still have not seen Seattle 3 or Seattle 2 up. Been checking off and on for hours....
  20. I'm not really clear on how this mechanic works. I managed to lose 3 Z's by ducking inside a house and it seems they must have lost their line of sight at the entrance. It seems to have worked as intended and the 3 of them are now blocking the doorway but not entering the building. Out of curiosity, I just proned in the dining area of the house and waited to see how this played out. After approx 30 minutes, the 3 of them are still aggroed in the doorway (it almost appears as if they are all stuck in the doorway). I can not leave as they are all stacked up at the exit, nor do I have a weapon to shoot them with. How is the mechanic supposed to work for this situation? I had imagined that they would de-agro at some point and walk away but since that is not happening, I see only 3 options here. - Bum rush the doorway, but I'm pretty sure that my character model will collide with the z's and I'll be unable to break through the "blockade" - Starve to death waiting (shitty option) - Switch servers (really shitty option) Anyway, just trying to figure out this new investigation/LOS mechanic and hoping to hear any input. As it stands, I have seen the Z's stop at the last seen location of my character, but is there a further point when they lose interest and go back to their wandering or do they just stay rooted the the last place you were seen?

  22. I tend to look at it another way. Not how dangerous is this stranger, but instead, how much do I have to lose at this moment? I tend to be MUCH more forgiving on a new life than on a char that is a week in and well provisioned. Come around a corner at me just after I have found a tent and you had better be shooting....

    Welp tis the end for me

    I really can't believe how many people come in here bitching and crying, (and leaving like little drama queens) because this ALPHA framework of a game which has barely even begun to add in any of its more important and enjoyable gameplay mechanics, has not lived up to their expectations. Get the fuck over it. It's not even a game yet. It's an idea. An experiment. One which is being shaped and molded as we speak. Fucking hell....
