What if DayZ added a single player mode? Hear me out.

Well, thanks for taking the time to share that considered and well thought out reply. -
Best Spots for Camps?
SystemiK replied to Phantomsmedia (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'll tell you, there is an area just above ___________ and a bit right of __________ that makes for an excellent camp. You should have no trouble at all finding it. Are you fucking kidding me with this? -
The person who tried this to me recently, died of a shotgun wound to the face.

They work just fine. Sometimes.

What do YOU make for the DayZ community?
SystemiK replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, from time to time I present them with a nice target and a pack full of useful survival items. -
One more tip that a lot of people seem to miss. Your shift button is actually a toggle, double click shift to switch between default run/walk. I always make sure it's toggled to default walk, so I have to actually press shift to run, makes it less of a chance to acidentally run cause you forgot to press the key. A lot of people didnt realilze you can crawl in two speeds as well... Also, make sure to take advantage of the ALT key which lets you look around with your head while still moving in another direction (can also toggle). I didnt use this for about a month but it's a game changer once you get used to it.

If you read my post you would see that I could give a rats ass about SP or co-op, I'm just trying to figure out a way to chill out the masses of people who are screaming at the top of their lungs daily trying to water down the game. -
People...WTF is wrong with you?
SystemiK replied to lukasforeals's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I really don't get it. Why does every style of player expect all other players to conform to 'their' playstyle? It's an amazing game where many different types of gameplay can converge (unlike many other popular games). My best day of gameplay is one where I never even SEE another player, but I absolutely LOVE the fact that there are people around me who would end my streak just for the enjoyment of fucking up my day. I don't want to be betrayed/shot in the back by another player, but take that probability away and 90% of the tension I feel in the game will be erased. It's what keeps the game interesting... -
If the corrections do indeed depend on your level of zoom, I also wonder if having made any changes to the FOV settings would affect this as well? It would seem to....

Global bans not working as intended, and letting down the BIS ethos.
SystemiK replied to 7-75 callaghan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Callahan, the fact that you are a long time member of the Arma community notwithstanding, your "better than thou" attitude and elitist outlook are not going to do you any favors here. You chastise others for their "personal and childish insults" yet you yourself have resorted to the same, here on this very forum. Do yourself a favor and lose the attitude. You are a DayZ community member, same as everyone else, and your time spent playing a video game called Arma does not elevate you to any lofty position of automatic respect which you "seem" to think you are entitled to. Treat the DayZ community with a modicum of respect rather than the disdain which you have previously put forth and you will be doing both the community and yourself a favor. Just my thoughts, and I'm glad to hear that your member is allegedly going to get a reprieve from his ban. It would seem all of this forum drama which you started may not have been necessary after all. -
Breaking news - DayZ will be part of Arma 2!
SystemiK replied to 7-75 callaghan's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So help me out here. DayZ is already a "part" of Arma 2 . What exactly is changing by making it official? -
Heh, mad after a 2 hour life? I'm not sure this game is gonna be your thing.

Actually, there is a bug where they occasionally don't show up after a server restart. If this happens to you, odds are that the tent will be there again after the server has been restarted. This has happened to me many times, but always the tent was back again after the restart.

Also, zeds are attracted to smoke grenades. Try to keep one on hand for any situations where you get mobbed, saved my ass several times....

Turning off nametags on a server
SystemiK replied to Halothane's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Sorry, I can't help you with that one. Just wanted to say thanks though, in my opinion those nametags have absolutely no place in this game. Also, once you get them turned off, would you mind updating your server name to include NT=off etc? Most servers make no mention of this setting in the server name. -
I don't know for sure what the current state of tents are since the latest patches, but in the past, tents would occasionally not appear and you would have to wait for a server restart for it to re-appear. Be shure to check back a couple of times, it may have just been that bug.

Just saw Seattle 3 (US55) up earlier today for the first time in a few dayz. Didnt notice if the other Sardine servers were though...

Side channel should remain for Alpha purposes
SystemiK replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I agree that side chat is a very useful tool for others to help out newcomers to the game and I spent a lot of time doing just that. On the other hand, though I did not want to see side chat go, I actually like not having the distraction of it. Never thought I'd say this, but I vote no to side chat. -
IMPORTANT: Tents will be wiped in update 1.7.1.5

Appeal to server admins. Re: Server names / name tag settings
SystemiK replied to SystemiK's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Yeah, 0/1 would definitely be my preference but on/off saves confusion. A lot of people who have never mucked around in a config file before have no idea which is on or off. -

Be more fun if I knew who killed me.
SystemiK replied to mrperson666's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No. What gets you killed "very often" is that you like to play on name tag servers where any bandit on a rooftop can see your name floating like a giant green billboard no matter whether through a wall, clear across a field, behind trees, around a corner etc. I stopped playing on nametag servers the first time I killed an unseen person through a thick stand of pine trees. I never even laid eyes on that person, but I emptied a clip at their nametag and sent them on an all expenses paid beach vacation. I understand why you like them, but they have absolutely no place in a game like this where the stakes are so high. -
Appeal to server admins. Re: Server names / name tag settings
SystemiK replied to SystemiK's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I understand you have a lot of information to convey in a very limited space but all we are asking for is a few characters (NT=Off). A more uniform naming convention is definitely needed. I do wish the Expert / Veteran / Regular etc settings were more standardized since as it is, those labels are not specific to any group of settings. My suggestion would be to drop those ambiguous labels entirely, and simply include all the settings for CH= 3dp= NT= (there are only 3 variables, why do most servers insist on listing only two of them). Many servers are still using the old format of "DayZ Zombie RPG -" instead of just "DayZ -" and some are just wasting space all over the place: DayZ Zombie RPG - LU15 (version1.7.1.5/Beta 93965 Required) [REGULAR 3DP:On CH:on][GMT+1] dayzmod.com - Hosted By LazyAssGamers / Vilayer.com vs. DayZ - LU15 (v1715 b96935) [3dp-on CH-on][GMT+1] Hosted By LazyAssGamers/Vilayer.com Plenty of room now to add a "NT=Off" now eh? I realize I am asking a lot, but since nametags on or off settings vary so wildly across all dificulty settings (even some Regular servers have nametags off) that I believe it would be worth including this short variable in the server names. Ultimately, given the direction this mod is taking, I expect nametags to be disabled entirely but in the meantime.... -
IMPORTANT: Tents will be wiped in update 1.7.1.5
SystemiK replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Thanks for the tent wipe. I had several tents due to moving it around trying to get the most hidden placement I could and it was bothering the hell out of me that I had 6 duped tents. Really gonna miss all that gear but this absolutely needed to be done. I really don't understand what all the QQing is all about, if you lost your camp, quit bitching on the forums and get busy. That is all. -
