Even putting a tent in EXACTLY the same spot where I had one before the tent wipe was a pain in the ass (and this was in a very open grassy area, hidden only by a large bush about 10 feet away). I knew you could put a tent down there because I had done it before. It STILL took about 20 tries. Someone already perfectly explained the technique above. Crouch, open your inventory and try (your inventory can remain open between tries), move a tiny bit in any direction and try again. Just keep spamming like this. Sometimes you will get the animation but it won't work, the tent will reappear in your pack. Just keep moving slightly and trying. That's it. No magic, just time and stubborness is all that is required. Probably some luck as well. Edit: It took me about 3 hours to find a decent spot to put down the 2nd tent I ever found. One more thing, some people are claiming that hackers now have a way to find all tent locations on the map. If this is true, tents are relatively worthless for the time being. -

Is it possible one of your mod files is an old version? I'd double check version numbers if I were you. After the May 27th update I never saw this bug again. -

Well I used to have a serious problem with that bug (I was about ready to quit over it). It stopped after installing the May 27th update UPDATE: 27 MAY 2012 * [FIXED] Wire Fencing Kit caused graphical glitches (new model) * [FIXED] Tank Trap Kit caused graphical glitches (new model) It looked like this and it happened anytime there was barbed wire in the area. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/140/arma2oa2012051413185844.jpg/ -

Looks like a bigger tent. Why don't you just wait and see what happens with the hidden caches that they are planning to add. Much easier than all the work you are suggesting. ROCKET: Soon to be released are underground caches which are invisible, a bit more secure to store your stuff.

People just have no amount of patience these days... You CAN place tents. It's buggy and it sucks sweaty boar balls but if you really want that tent you gotta suck it up and keep trying. You WILL get it down eventually. Don't believe me? When people are talking about how brutal the game is they are not talking about the bandits or zeds, they are talking about the tents. It really comes down to how bad you want it. -

Never really thought about that. I wonder how many other lone wolf style players have this bug yet have never even noticed. At any rate, it seems very rare. This is my main concern. Being so rare may keep it from getting any attention from the devs. -

I found one laying next to a doghouse once. Point is, they can spawn at nearly any spawn location. I'm curious why you are looking specifically for an Alice Pack though? The Coyote Backpack (not to be confused with the Coyote Patrol Pack you spawn with) can hold more items than the Alice Pack. http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Backpack -

I have no desires whatsoever for a fractured PVP/PVE design, Kageru. I'm simply asking for people to chill out and let Rocket build his game the way he wants it built (which includes PVP and PVE in the same server) as well as pointing out why splitting them apart at this point is a terrible idea. -

Hmmph... I can't disagree with that. Well for starters, it fractures the community into groups, while the purpose of this whole experiment is to explore a singular group dynamic. Rocket WANTS a PVP dynamic present in the final game. But how the hell is he supposed to evaluate the effects of new gameplay mechanics and even more subtle game play tweaks if all the PVPers are on one set of servers and all the PVEers are on another? As far as an alpha test goes it does not support the stated goal. If he is going to be able to fine tune the interactions between PVP and PVE he needs both groups playing in the same space. Any other options will only make things more difficult (if not impossible) to evaluate. It would be like developing and balancing two seperate games at the same time, when all he really desires is one game comprised of both. Furthermore (as already mentioned) if you are going to have this split you have to PERMANANTLY keep both sides seperate. You cannot have people loot farming on the PVE servers and then PVPing on another server with said loot. In my own opinion, if Rocket decides to do something like this in the future, well...whatever (I hope he does not) but now is definitely not the right time for it. -
There is already a defib in the game. It's called an Epi-Pen. And no it does not revive you from the dead (dead is dead). It recovers you from unconsiousness.

Rocket said in the last couple of days that he "may" enable Zeds running while inside buildings. Sounds like Zeds may be going in a completely opposite direction than you hope...
