I still don't get why you are asking us. If you don't have fraps, get it so you can check your FPS. Bump some advanced settings and see what the hit is to your FPS. It's not rocket science.

The question is far too general and without knowing your system specs it's difficult for anyone to even know what to suggest. One thing though, that a lot of people overlook, is to make sure your 3d setting matches whatever you have set your screen resolution at. Having them set to different resolutions can make the game look a bit blurry.

Louder? No. With my volume even at moderate settings I still sound like I'm walking around with a couple of paint can lids strapped to my feet. Maybe you should ask instead to hear footsteps to be heard (by other players) from a longer distance away. Footsteps currently sound like shit, are twice as loud as they need to be and I really dont want those shit sound files crunching through my speakers even louder than they already are.

Sure. And if you want to eat some beans then you have to place your pack on the ground, take out the can and place IT on the ground before you can start using the can opener on it. Now, where did I put that spoon? You know, sometimes realism just for the sake of realism is not benefitting the game in any way...

New, Better Storage - Easy Possibilities
SystemiK replied to chefwillis's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
ROCKET: Soon to be released are underground caches which are invisible, a bit more secure to store your stuff. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=558 Post #6 Happy now? :P -
Yes, most of the vehicles have storage, just like tents. I like tents better. No one can drive them away... ;P

Why not spawn all over the map instead of the coast?
SystemiK replied to Soup (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I've been looking for the post where Rocket said why we have to spawn on the coast but I can't find it again. It was not a limitation of Arma 2 as others have said, it was something more of a mod limitation (too much server overhead or something like that). -
Wish I would have watched this clip before playing the game the first few times. Covers all the basics and quite a bit more. Very nicely done. DayZ Beginners Guide: Learning the Basics 16 minutes Note: the spawn load out has changed a bit since this video was made last month (such as no starting guns and food, zombie AI etc.)

Getting onto a ladder would likely be governed by the game engine, and probably difficult to change. I would like them to at least address the sound of climbing ladders though. It really does sound like an epileptic drummer battling a stick with a couple of wooden spoons. It's got to go. Hell, have a contest. Let the community submit some of their own audio samples. Surely someone will nail it. We have a lot of talent here in this community.

The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
SystemiK replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There is a problem with this. If you introduce a game mechanic which brute forces the existing PVP mechanic entirely out of the game, you have irreperably altered the foundation of this mod. PVP is a PRINCIPAL part of the very experiment we are testing here. What you are suggesting is to turn the ship about and take an entirely different direction. If the devs were to take in interest who am I to argue (and I expect they won't) but let's be very clear, taking your approach would be tantamount to abandoning this "experiment" we are curently undertaking. What you suggest, CO-OP play ON A MASSIVE SCALE, well let's face it, that is simply not DayZ, as it has been envisioned and designed by the devs. I would love to play through your idea sometime, but it would never be DayZ. -
Please reinstate gear to people who die from hackers or bugs.
SystemiK replied to Hendrix (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sorry, I don't think you realize what you are asking here. The dev team is an extremely small group of people. There is no way in hell they could do this without disrupting their work on the game. What would you rather have here, continued progress on the mod, or everyone running around in circles wondering about which gear we all had the day before? Save this request for if you get hacked (and you probably will) after the mod is released. -
That has happened to me as well. Dropped my pack and it just went POOF. Picked up my shiny new (and empty) Alice Pack. The old pack and gear inside was nowhere to be seen. The safest way I have found. First, make SURE the pack on the ground shows the option to TAKE PACK. Now transfer all your gear into it. Once you are done transferring items you can pick up the new pack with all your gear inside. This has never failed me yet.

New item: Blindfold. Does what you think it does.

Erm.....couldnt you just pull your ballcap down over your eyes and be done with it? -
Armbands are being reserved for some type of faction mechanic they would like to try later in development. Maybe some other type of indicator...

Listen to Rakkasan. I did not experiment with the 3d setting for quite awhile and when I finally upped it to match my screen resolution the difference was unfuckingbelievable. Graves, I swear I have read somewhere that all of the "leave video memory setting to default" suggestions are old information from before a previous arma 2 update. I believe it is ok to set memory higher now (can anyone confirm this?). Also, at night, upping the HDR setting will allow more shades of grey which can help you see more objects around you when very dark.

The pessimist will fill his entire pack with morophine to combat these new bear traps. The optimist will only require a toolbox. Which are you?
