Trading 1 Mountain Dew for any repaired vehicle
SystemiK replied to killcamike's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is 100 percent not true. Your server died because I ate at Subway for lunch (everytime I eat at Subway a DayZ server dies). I'm terribly sorry about the tent and your server, but I was really fucking hungry and then.....Subway. -
NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!
SystemiK replied to avid_gamer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Good idea. Definitely don't try it for yourself and make up your mind based upon your own observations. Especially not when you can let a few random whiners decide for you... -
You would be lucky to get an empty water bottle for it...

No, your CD key will not automatically work with a new copy, but I'm sure google can help you figure out the rest.

You do realize that this video is from a different Arma 2 mod right?

A question on the relation of arma profiles and day z characters
SystemiK replied to cevune's topic in New Player Discussion
On the public hive, you will have a single DayZ character which is tied to your CD key, not your Arma profile. On the private hives it depends how it is set up. Some of them are "character per server" and some of them are "character per group of servers". None of them are tied to separate Arma profiles. -
The answer to your question is: Definitely maybe.
-
The loot spawn system would need to be completely rewritten to do this, as loot spawning is directly tied to the 24 hour time cycle.

I've been told that some people really don't understand sarcasm. Guess it's true....

First little look at the New DayZ map - Fallujah
SystemiK replied to Aspects's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
We were at the airfield last night and trust me, loot was working just fine. On the way in we saw 2 Chinooks and once on the airfield there were multiple helicopters, a Little Bird, 2 standard Hueys and one which had rocket pods. We also saw a Bi-Plane. Most of the enter-able houses etc. (by enter-able I mean the ones with stairways for roof access were barren) but there are some massive apartment blocks with easily 30 or more lootable apartment buildings. The one market I found had 4 Czech Packs. Tool belt items were plentiful, rifles outside of the airfield were rare and pistols were very rare. Other reports I heard had people finding pistols and generic main weapons easily. Loot is definitely not broken, it just seems that some servers are all tin cans and bottles and not others. I've also seen this in regular DayZ on occasion so it's nothing new there. -
Crawling over world items which are not flat have a very good chance of breaking your legs and even causing blood loss. The engine is very poorly implemented when it comes to player/health interactions with the world/environment even a random tree can kill you (very rarely) if you are having a bad luck day and happen to walk past the trunk just so. Rocks are even worse, never walk over those random boulders in fields if you can avoid it. Sometimes they will suck you in like quicksand...

Why you should play on a private hive
SystemiK replied to tobiassolem's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
To be fair, the dev's have gone to great lengths to lock the DayZ mod down with an iron fist up until now, but Rocket himself has also said that the main reason for that was so that he could "prove" the strength of his mod to the development community at large. He has since stated that now that it's success has been noted and it's future has been secured that he can use the mod as an experimental platform which can be experimented on by the community in a way that will feed new concepts, content, and even code into the standalone. Don't let yourself get locked into the past. Dayz mod is going wild wild west (this is what the dev's want), and dayz standalone is going to go exactly where the devs want it to go, with the benefit of sucking up some great ideas from the comunity along the way. This is simply a win win situation, and giving server admins total control is already spinning off new ideas such as Lingor Island, Fallujah, and even new mission files with completely new in game items and code. Rocket has let his bird fly. You should be very excited about that, you are about to see the community do some truly amazing things with this mod that they have been given control over, be glad you have a front row seat and one day you can look back and say "I was there, right in the middle of it all". -
Two things come to mind that you could compare to try to narrow down what is different with his install than yours. 1. How do you launch the game? Are you both launching the same .exe? (i.e. Steam, Retail, .exe launcher from the Arma 2 OA folder etc). 2. Also, you can compare what you see in the top right corner of you main arma 2 screen when it loads. You will see some items listed there and they indicate what things are loading and in what order (can be selected / unselected and load order changed in the Expansions tab at the arma 2 menu). I had to make mine mirror somone elses last night in order to get Falluja map to load for me. At least in the case of the new Fallujah hive, (temporarily) I had to disable a lot of the normal tick boxes and also change the load order to get Fallujah to run (but my buddy didnt have to change a thing) not sure why our versions were different in that respect. Also, I had to use the launch_AO_beta.exe shortcut that was in my steam folder otherwise I could not play on the private hive at all.

Suggestions for Dogs and Horses etc..

Voice recognition is very CPU hungry so I doubt that would make any sense in a game that is already CPU limited... -
[Advice Needed]Can't join private server
SystemiK replied to capri_stylee's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Are you running the latest version of DayZ Commander? Just saw this in the changelog: 0.9.0.85 (September 16, 2012) [bugFix] Fixed issue with connecting to bliss-based lingor servers Outside of that, I would post on the DayZ Commander forums (they just went live a couple days ago so thats why there are not many posts) but dotJosh has been very active with troubleshooting when they were still using the groups.google group, odds are he can help you work it out. -
How are servers going to operate in standalone?
SystemiK replied to sostronk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket said recently that they may offer some hosted servers initially, but other than that it is going to be a few variations on the ruleset with hosting provide by the community. -
As a rule of thumb, the first time you put items in the tent and save is a roll of the dice. But the next time you save an item and it makes it through a server reboot, the tent is good to go. It will save properly from then on, also if the tent ever fails to load after a server reboot it will always come back next time around.

Just read your other post. Comparing the two posts, your story sounds a bit suspect. But either way, you have two options. Give up playing DayZ, or buy a new copy of OA. -
NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!
SystemiK replied to avid_gamer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The way I see it is that many of the people who enjoy lone wolfing chernarus (running around in the woods) are going to find that style of game play on Fallujah to be utterly boring and unrewarding once the novelty wears off. On the other hand, those who crave PVP and squad based actions are going to be in gamer heaven for quite awhile to come. People just need to realize that every arma 2 map that gets ported over to the dayz mod (and from the sound of it there are 13 more maps being added by Lee at Vilayer as we speak) is going to have it's own strengths and weaknesses. Once we have all these new maps to choose from, what's important will be to look your own preferences in how you like to play the game and then choose a map that supports your play style (instead of simply bitching that "this" map sucks or "that' map sucks). Map preferences are going to be very subjective depending on how you like to play the game and not every map is going to be a "great" map for everyone. Aside from fracturing the community somewhat, the new maps are going offer everyone to find that sweet spot that really suits their way of playing the game. Things have never looked so good for the mod side of dayz as they are looking right now... -
DayZ DIAF - A custom DayZ Mod I'm working on. Input appreciated!
SystemiK replied to venthos's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This is excellent news! If it was anyone but you Venthos, I'd likely roll my eyes and move along but I've been following your posts pretty much since you joined the forum and I reckon you have the chops to see this through. Some very interesting ideas here (though I'll say right up front that I would miss the HELL out of my trusty M14). I've always wondered how the game would play with some of the higher tiered gear removed, and in what ways this would influence the current behavior and strategies of players. Now that the mod is being opened up to the community for private hive development and testing, I really think we are going to see a lot of people (such as yourself) coming up with interesting solutions to many of the problems that have been ongoing. I've always had my suspicions that the duping was more of a database issue than an engine limitation, from watching your video it seems to confirm this. If you have solved this in a day, then you are a god. Simple as that. I'm sure similar fixes will be easy in standalone, but I've been very worried that no one would be able to address them in the mod and that they would continue to be the status quo from here on out. If you need any help in testing gameplay count me in. I imagine you will have plenty of detractors who are unwilling to experiment with changes, but I really think you are onto something here. -
cannot play day z with playwith six,no game found
SystemiK replied to devin_best's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The problem is with the game being a mod, there are literally dozens of things that can go wrong. The most important thing you can do to help you work out what the problem is, is to try and narrow down what changed between the last time the game ran properly and the first time it failed to launch. -
I don't really get the point of the question. You seriously can't make up your own mind on what you want to do with it?

DayZ Commander is vastly superior to Six (in my opinion). Give it a try, you won't regret it...
