Well you can always reinstall the game, as far as I know that is the only way to uninstall the beta patch (though there is an .exe in the arma 2 folder named: "Uninstall arma 2 beta patch") No idea why that is included if the patch cannot be uninstalled..... -

Usually means the server is getting hammered. Keep trying and eventually you won't get the prompt.

I generally prefer to look in the forest / mountain regions of the map as well as along the borders.....but that's just how "I" roll.

To be perfectly honest, I downloaded the demo of Arma 2 when it released. I was appalled at how bad the tutorial was and how clunky and poorly designed the interface and controls were (not to mention that terribly disjointed NPC audio. Seriously?). After playing several missions I was more than happy to uninstall it and say good riddance, though I was REALLY hoping for a better experience. Operation Flashpoint occupied vast portions of my gaming time back in the day. A buddy of mine who I had literally begged to give it try also had a similar experience. The term "rough around the edges" did not even begin to describe the awkward mess that we found in Arma 2. That being said, having played DayZ for 8 weeks now (and having had many of the same misgivings about the Arma 2 engine vs. DayZ as I had earlier with the demo) I will say that I've gotten over many of it's quirks and would even go as far as to say that I've grown a bit fond of the general "feel" of the engine (but that fucking inventory system has got to go). I find myself now wanting to play Arma 2 and possibly even invest some time into discovering more of its mods. The only problem is that I can't tear myself away from DayZ long enough to do it. No matter whether or not DayZ gets released as a part of the next Arma installment, I will definitely be purchasing Arma 3 on release day, if only to support BIS. tl;dr I thought Arma 2 was a pathetic attempt at a game engine upon release, and now I am having second thoughts about what I've been missing.

Just to be clear. The dev's have stated that they are removing tents / vehicles from the areas outside of the map borders (the barren areas beyond the map edge with no trees, grass or vegetation) which is considered to be an exploit. There has never never been any mention of removing the current tent system we have now.

Nobody said anything about removing tents. Hell, the dev has even been talking about adding underground caches / bases in at some point in the future. What makes you think tents are going anywhere?

So the DC abuser darts behind a building or tree and does his 5 second disconnect.....what has this solved really? It would work in certain situations, but far from all of them. Any fix will have to be much more comprehensive than this to be effective on any noticable scale. -
Really though, at what point is the game realistic enough? Should we have to clip our toenails occasionally so that our socks last longer in order to keep from getting blisters and running slower? Should we have to brush our teeth often or risk dying from an abcessed and infected cavity? How about crotch rot? Running around in the same dirty underwear day after day is gonna cause some problems, better get working on an underwear and soap texture. I'll bet there are a lot of tics in a forrest area like Chernaurus, should we put them in as well? Giardia parasites in ponds from cow shit? Sunburn? Cancer? Guess we better have skin cancer if it's gonna be realistic eh? Ooohhh.....how about eye infections or maybe a rare chance of glaucoma? All of these could be valid points for an authentic game but are still completely ridiculous. I think people are taking the 'realism' aspect a bit too far and at some point there would be no time for anything but working through your daily checklist of tasks to perform. PVP will no longer be a hot topic, everyone will be too busy checking for tics, looking for toothbrushes / nail clippers and sunscreen to worry about shooting anyone. Actually, I dont mind your gun cleaning idea at all, but at some point a line needs to be defined where the game is realistic "enough". Am I wrong about this?

Go here and type: "WeaponHolder_ItemTent" into the search bar at the upper left corner. http://dayzmap.info/ The map will show in blue all the possible locations where a pack can spawn. Clicking on an individual blue dot will pop up a table showning the chance of each possible item for the location spawning. As you will see, the problem is not so much in finding the right spot, as just getting lucky...

When you have found a map you can mark points for your squad (an arma 2 feature). Depending what chat channel you are on, others can see your marker as well. For example if you make a mark on your map while in the Direct Chat, only players within 100 feet or so would see it. With the old game settings, making a mark while in side chat would have allowed everyone in the server to see it on their own map.

Trying to find a version of the map he used but nothing I have found is at such high res. Also, I'm trying to work out a simple way to keep an updatable map with tent locations / routes etc., some of collaborative whiteboard type of program where locations can be added / subtracted easily. Using a photo editor at the moment but this method really sucks in the case of a tent wipe etc because you have to start over from scratch with a clean map image every time you want to revert any notes or icons you have added. Anyhow, just looking for suggestions or ideas on how to make this easier. -

I can only print at 4 feet wide. Guess I'll see on monday how well 3000x2900 scales to that size...that 10k would be amazing though. -
