To the bandit on ANZ 3 who was raped by a bus squad
SystemiK replied to Albatros (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Heh, a lot of us just don't respond well to orders given by strangers....I know personally, I'd likely choose to eat a bullet than play into whatever twisted plan you might have had. -
Another thread about the problems since latest update
SystemiK replied to hds02115's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting

Just to make things clear - weapons nerf is not a DayZ patch.
SystemiK replied to davidecibel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It was more like a hotfix to a fix if I understood it correctly... -
My server randomly not showing up in server list?
SystemiK replied to FuRiouSOne's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Same with US 232. It only shows up in DayZ Commander for me, not in Arma server browser. I read something earlier that it might be a problem with Gamespy not returning a full list of results. -
The real downside here is not that you allowed all of your friends to die, it's that you let them all die to a couple of girls. (srry, couldnt resist)

Exactly what I was looking for with no luck. Thanks. -
A few tips for new trigger happy players
SystemiK replied to Bushmaster14's topic in New Player Discussion
More than likely you spawned them yourself. That tip only works when you observe the town from a distance far enough away that you know someone else had to have spawned them. Otherwise, it's possible for a player to have been there and left while you were approaching or they were just well hidden and non confrontational. -
Suggestion - Disable this sh**hole of a subforum... [Profanity and cursing]
SystemiK replied to obi_lipnik's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What, so all of that mindless chatter ends up spilling into the other forums? It's just fine where it is if you ask me...... -
You just have to go to his profile and click FIND CONTENT, then on that page click show only posts. It will paginate ALL his posts instead of just the last 5. You should include the part about his future plans for tents..... Oh wait, that mindless bitch cut him off in the middle of his sentence and completely derailed his train of thought.

I've always used 15 minutes as a safe estimate of blink time. But it also depends on movement. If you are sprinting the whole time you will have less time than if you are not moving around.
-
No. I suggest that for at least awhile you just play the game seperately until you are a bit more experienced in surviving. At that point getting together in game is trivial and only a matter of time. As long as one of you keeps making a mistake it will only add frustration (like what you described above).

Why do regular/recruit servers exist?
SystemiK replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
BLASPHEMY!!! Heh, the shitstorm that erupts when they lock all servers down to a single ruleset is going to be epic. Pretty sure I can figure out which direction they are going to tilt things.... -
Rocket has said that he wants to rewrite the entire inventory system from scratch. Anybody's guess whether he will ever do it in mod version though...

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.4 Rolling Update Posted by rocket on Yesterday, 11:57 AM in DayZ Announcements For those stuck on loading screen: 1. It is either because the server is very busy with requests (latency to central server high) - solution is just to wait 2. The server is not running BattlEye (will not work without battleye enabled) 3. Installation of the @hive server addon is not correct. Make sure ALL required dll's are installed, not just the hiveEXT.dll 4. Not running 1.62 with beta.

I mean that it's a mod. They dont have access to the source code for the arma engine. This could be done in standalone with a lot of additional code, but where we are at now, this is not even possible. Other than that, it's a fine idea.

Not Sure What Exactly is Happening Here...
SystemiK replied to Bambo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sit your guy down and try not to move at all? I bet if you had access to the stats, you would find that sniper/campers eat FAR less than the people running around out in the woods. -
I think you dont entirely understand the constraints involved with how a mod works.....

Why do regular/recruit servers exist?
SystemiK replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I tend to agree (especially regarding nametags). All servers will be locked down to a single ruleset at some point in the future. For now, they are leaving the diffulty settings as is. -
Heh, this should prove to be interesting........
-
I think you may be misunderstanding what the OP is hoping to do ( or I am misundersting what you suggest). He seems to want to introduce permanent daylight on the server by locking down the time. This will break the loot spawns as each time the loot script checks against server time it will be given a return of "not enough time has passed, don't respawn loot". Sure, you can change the server time, but you cannot lock it down. In order for the spawn system to work properly, time of day cannot be static.

2 Saves. One for private/fun with friends, and one for open public gameplay.
SystemiK replied to Yatagan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Aira, None of those things come from EVE. They are all conditions which arise from our human nature. When you put people into a sandbox we become reflections of ourselves. Those things may well exist in EVE, but they arise from a MUCH darker place than the far reaches of distant galaxies. -
Dark is dark. Try finding servers that are daytime?

I had a similar situation. I was in the hills far west of Solnichniy and after a run in with another player found myself with a broken leg and no morophine. I was also at around 2500 blood and could barely see. I crawled all the way to Solnichniy where I needed to find matches, a hatchet, and a knife so that I could crawl back into the mountains to where I knew there should be a cow I could kill and cook. With that out of the way I would be able to see well enough to hopefully crawl back to my camp where I had morophine wating. It took about an hour to get to Solnichniy and by god I found everything but morophine and matches. I did end up getting eaten by zombies while crawling through the town but I still have not had a more intense run at trying to survive. I feel like a lot pf players are simply too lazy and ADD challenged to invest an effort like that and are missing some very rewarding gameplay by simply respawning and starting over. I salute you for your determination. You are definitely getting the WHOLE experience this game can offer....

SystemiK replied to Yatagan's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yatagan, I think the problem is that you (and a lot of people in general) are trying to treat this as if it is THE game. In my own opinion it is not even a game yet, it's a very small collection of game mechanics (under evaluation) which offers little more than an idea of how the game will play out in the future. We have no way of knowing what will be added in (and what will be taken out). It seems to me that way too many people are passing judgements on how this game plays NOW, with an expectation that the final game will play out in a similar manner. I suspect that the finished product may not even be recognizable when compared to these early alpha builds (and I'll admit that worries me a bit but I'm willing to see where it takes us). Wait until more mechanics have been introduced, and content for that matter. One of the main reasons PVP is so prevalent right now is that there is very little else to do. Wait until instanced underground bases are introduced. Rocket has mentioned that he envisions this being something you could work on for YEARS. It's additions like that that will change the balance of play much better than trying to influence the game mechanics right now to reach the desired outcome. In short, I'm suggesting that the future CONTENT will have a tendency to balance out the gameplay, rather than introducing specific mechanics at such an early stage to do the same.
