Night time doesn't serve a purpose
SystemiK replied to jayboltz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can debate the issue from either side until you are blue in the face. At the end of the day the fact remains that only one person in the entire world gets to decide (on all or our behalf) and we have to live with that choice, for better or for worse. We also have a choice. Accept it or leave. Continue to debate if you must, but that is the way it is. This is not a democracy and the sooner people realize it the better....one person makes the decisions, and from there we can all make our own decisions. -

They removed it primarily because all of the respawn requests were placing a lot of strain on the hive server. In theory this will reduce the server overhead substantially. -

You dont need to respawn from debug forrest. A new script has been added that if you spawn there and disconnect on the next reconnect you will be moved (with all your gear) to the nearest beach. As for what you would like....well join the rest of us. We don't get to make those decisions. -
My intent was to say this is a very bad idea....but then.....what the hell, it might turn out to be a nice addition to the game. Only one way to find out...

I have no plans whatsoever to ever have my own helicopter. My plan is to have someone else's...

Can we get a REAL forum moderator please?

Seems to me they are screwing over themselves by reporting in the wrong place....are people really that helpless that they need to have another person devote their own time to fixing their mistakes for them? -

Actually it was "oh my god fucking laugh out loud", but no harm done. I was fucking with you because you talk like a punk kid, but now that you say you really are a punk kid, I'll cut you just a bit of slack. Kids gonna be kids after all..... -

Heh, seems like they can be heard from about 17 miles away (the map is only 15 miles tall).

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and surmise that you are skinnier than some of the other kids at your school? -
The servers are not down, it's just that they are not all showing up in the browser and it seems a bit random on which ones show up at any time. Just keep trying, they are up.

Well, I think I'm about done with this piece of shit.
SystemiK replied to Lord Fartus's topic in New Player Discussion
Well as far as insults go, I'll give it a 7. But seriously, one moment you are declaring that your game is "off to the trash bin" and the very next you are ready to play again. If that's the case, I'm really happy for you. By all means keep playing the game, it's what we all do after the frustration wears off. But for the love of god, next time you feel the urge to announce your raging exit from the game...just...don't. Every single one of us will one day give up on this game, for better or worse, but we really don't all need to announce it in the forum. Agreed? -

Ah....so the game gets rescued from the trash bin so easily? All that self righteous indignation and shouting from the rooftop for nothing? I knew your thread was a waste of time, but I had no idea you would go right ahead and prove it... -

Yup. Run along now... -
A very quick question.

Need gunner. -
No, when you die it will persist. The only diference is that you can no longer pack it up and move it. EDIT: as for the 7 days, that was something that was announced about tents but never seemed to be implemented. Tents pretty much last forever due to various bugs. They will sometimes fail to spawn after server restarts but will be back next restart. They can be packed up and moved (and the first tent will be back at restart), and they can be destroyed or blown up and still come back. Tents are currently experiencing god mode.

It was not 1.7.2.4 that changed the damage model. It was the Beta 1.62 patch from Bohemia. They made some mistakes in earlier development which made some weapons too powerful and this change to account for "air drag" on projectiles has inadvertantly caused changes to the days mod as well.

Thats very interesting. It's a meta game in and of itself. The game as is offers numerous possibilities outside of simply surviving (and will only get better as content is added). The problem which faces many players (as you have already suggested) is that when not given clear objectives and stepping points along the way that they quickly become bored. Modern gaming, in it's constant quest to reach the lowest common denominator has done much to stifle creativity in it players. Yet there are some who will always find ways to keep themselves entertained while most others may not find enjoyment beyond what is carefully packaged and placed in front of them, ready for consumption. I suspect that it's not so much a problem with people, as it is a problem with the gaming industry itself. In a way, mainstream games have trained people NOT to think for themselves (at least in the context of the game) and to accept the experience of the game only as it was intended by it's makers ( in fact most games really don't even leave the player any choice). It's been refreshing to see sandbox games getting more attention recently, perhaps these games will ultimately be responsible for pushing the mainstream into a new direction. I know that's a lot to ask, but it is certainly possible...

There are some problems with the server list at the moment (Gamespy issue). As I understand it, Gamespy is only returning 500 random servers to the server browsers (arma 2, Six Launcher, DayZ Commander). I was lucky to have all my main servers favorited with DayZ commander so I can still join them even if they dont show up in the regular server search.

It was a hacker most likely. Welcome to DayZ.

He said himself a few weeks back that he was going to break shit and that things would get a LOT worse before they got any better. You seem surprised....but you were warned. Might be time for you to find a game which does not upset you so easily.
