I could actually live with this if he would at least keep us in the loop as he has in the past, but it seems that his new masters have put a muzzle on him as far as the forums are concerned and now we are only getting the usual PR buzz which is industry standard for games in development. The dev / playerbase communication Rocket had going was very refreshing while it lasted but I'm afraid those days are now behind us...

Sorry, not entirely clear on the .pbo files. You said you are not allowed to modify the server.pbo as a hosting provider, but do we as admins have access to modify this file or is it locked down to us as well?

On 1.7.2.5 tents (and vehicles) are not saving properly at all for most people (code changes to fix this have been released but have not been approved for change in the mod more info here https://dev-heaven.net/issues/41502 ). On 1.7.2.4 if you place tent, wait for server reboot and THEN put your stuff in and save tent, it is working for the most part but still tents are to be considered broken and use at your own risk. This is the primary reason I have left my server at 1.7.2.4 instead of updating to 1.7.2.5 which was primarily released as a hotfix for the graphic artifacting bug. Unfortunately 1725 did not fix the graphic bug at all and seems to have broken tent and vehicle inventory saving even more than it was previously. At the moment 75% of servers are running 1725 but 1724 is much more stable with regard to tent and vehicle inventories.

Yes, it's broken. Check back in a month or so and see if 1.7.3 has been released, there is a small chance that this patch will fix the issue.

Personally, I think the best thing that could happen to the game is that people start leaving in droves. As it stands, the devs have a pretty sure thing on their hands and it will be easy to take for granted. If the amount ofdaily players were to drop to 20k or so, that would definitely keep them from getting complacent...

heh, just run around the map borders on a populated server for a couple of hours, you should be able to find hundreds of them...

If not 100% repaired it will leak fuel until empty...

Meaning do the vehicles spawn into a server as a persistent entity that is present whether or not a player is in the area, or do they spawn similar to loot, i.e. chance spawn when a player gets near the vehicle spawn area? This is pretty much impossible to test, just wondering what you all think about how the vehicle spawns work.

Thanks, Symptom. Exactly what I was looking for. In fact, I should have already figured that out from spawning in next to vehicles in the past but I missed the obvious. That's what I love about this forum, someone is always one step ahead of you....

That's not what I am asking at all. I am wondering if the vehicles are persistent. Meaning does the vehicle still exist in the world even when a player is not near (which I would expect to be the case), or is a vehicle handled like loot (only spawning into the world when a player gets close to the loot spawn)? EDIT: To be even more specific, say I ride up to a grocery store on a bike. I will have approached the loot spawn so fast that it will not have time to spawn so I would see a completely empty grocery store. If I run to the store instead, the loot will have time to spawn before I get there (I've just tested this exact scenario, rode up on a bike and the store was completely empty, left for awhile and ran back to it on foot and it was full of loot). Same question for vehicles. If you approach the vehicle spawn too quickly, will the vehicle not have time to spawn, or is it there all the time because it is persistent in the world? Kind of a tricky question but an interesting one...

Since 1.7.2.4 you should just be able to leave the server and re-join. You should spawn on a beach with all your gear. At least this is how it normally works, you may have become the victim of a bug. If you don't have thick enough skin to suffer a few major setbacks, maybe you should give DayZ a rest and come back to it after it is released, hell, it will probably get even worse before it gets better but still worth the frustration in my opinion...

Appologies for being such a noob but how do I make an unscheduled server announcement? I am using #login Password and I see that same string pop up lower left so I assume I am doing it correctly, but in testing my announcement is not being seen by other players (I see it), am using global chat to enter the text. Am I supposed to preface the announcement with a command? (tried # but did not seem to work). thanks for any suggestions...

Are you looking to put a server on your own box or just looking to rent a hosted server?

If you dont mind a server in the Dallas Texas area, you should look into Elpis Host. Those guys are getting servers up within the hour right now....see the thread on this forum for more info.

Tyler and Brandon, just wanted to say thanks for the extremely fast and efficient setup, and major props also go to you guys also for having such great communication. After reading of all the horror stories from people trying to get a server hosted elsewhere I've been putting it off for the last month and a half. I simply could not find anyone who seemed to have a solid approval rating from their customer base and was not willing to be another unhappy customer. I have to admit I was expecting the worst, but it absolutely could not have gone any smoother. When I saw that you were out of ID's I figured a week turnaround would be the best I could hope for, but you had me up in less than 24 hours in spite of having no inventory when I placed the order. I was also extremely happy to see load times of 5 to 10 seconds. You definitely know your business, THANKS!!! If any of you are looking for a server host, look no further. These guys are the real deal.

Find yourself on this map, click on the building you are in and on the right you will see a table of everything that can possibly spawn in that location and the percentage chance of it spawning. THe map also has a search function to look for particular items. http://dayzdb.com/map#4.068.076

I've logged back in on two occasions recently where I found myself at debug plains and then re-logged to the beach. Both times I had all my gear at the beach spawn and was able to run back to my body (at my tent) which also had all my gear on it. I logged out last night way up north of the North East Airfield and today I logged back in at Kamenka. Fucking hell that's a long way to run, guess I'll rebuild down south for now until this all gets sorted out.

I've seen tents randomly not respawn since back in early may when I started playing. It's always been a problem, but 9 times out of 10 the tents are back next restart. Rarely, a tent will never respawn but I;ve only seen this a couple of times. EDIT: If you are already restarting several times a day I would not sweat it. Most people are aware that the tents sometimes disappear for one cycle and will just make do without it for a few hours.
