Also, just a tip here. If you select "take raw meat" from the options when rolling the mousewheel on the carcass, it will only give you ONE steak. If you want to take ALL the steaks, click "gear" on the carcass and then you can take them all. Pretty simple but plenty of new players (myself included) have run away from a cow with only one steak and left seven behind thinking they had just gotten them all.

Just curious about something. A lot of people recommend lowering the 3d res setting for performance. My game looks like shit if I don't keep them at the same setting (1920x1200 for both Res and 3d Res). What is it about running them at different settings that makes the game textures so blurry? -

What are the effects of a server reset?

Also, keep in mind that occasionally after a server restart, the server will fail to load all tents and vehicles. They will be missing until the next restart gives them a chance to spawn properly. -

That's But what then? Rejoining the server every minute for nearly an hour, what is happening here? -
Dead does not mean dead, just that the server is offline. Some server admins will take the server offline whenever they are not playing. Not permitted, but plenty seem willing to do it anyhow...

I'd trade a heli any day for an old bicycle. Easily the best vehicle in the game. Fast, minimal maintenance, no fuel needed, and no one will hear you coming. What more could you ask for.... -

See the problem is that your expectations of the game do not match up with what the game actually is. So you insist that the game must be changed to meet those expectations. Could it be that DayZ is fine and you are just playing the wrong game? It seems possible.... -

You don't even need a weapon to "take on" zombies, they are extremely easy to lose with the new line of sight mechanic. How about you just spend a couple of weeks playing the game instead of jumping in here right off the bat and proclaiming that it needs to be dumbed down to just to suit your impatience. it's not a difficult game by a long shot, it just has a rather steep learning curve, after that it gets stupidly easy... -

With a few exceptions (1.61 / 1.62 beta versions) the beta patches are generally backwards compatible but there are definitely some quirks between versions. I have my suspicions that an incompatibility exists between server / client beta versions which is causing players trying to join certain servers to spawn on the beach with all gear they had previously. It's happened to me several times and always when I joined some random server that I did not normally play on. Unfortunately, with so many possible combinations of client / server / beta / mod it is nearly impossible to nail down which combination of versions could be causing this. -

WHen the moon cycle is right (full moon is out) playing at night without night vision is one of the best experiences of the game. When the moon cycle is wrong or it is just not up yet playing at night is not for everyone. But do try and play with a full moon out, for me at least, the grey color palette and general darkness really makes the game shine...I've never played any other game in black and white or shades of grey that worked so well.

That may be a valid argument for a standard alpha or beta test which may have a few hundred people testing, in which case every bug report is needed. In a case where you have upwards of 100,000 people "testing" the game day in and day out, not so much. 50,000 bug reports on the same bug is not only useless duplication, it actually floods the devs with so much information that they begin to have trouble sifting through the duplicates to find anything new. So no, bug reporting is not needed from the masses. If you wish to see yourself as a tester be my guest, but you can lay off the "do your job" tripe ok? I think that job is already being done to excess.
