    A Strange Happening

Hehe I did not, I stood for about 30 seconds just observing this beautiful event, then got on with looting the barracks

    A Strange Happening

I had a strange event happen to me about 2 days ago that absolutely scared me shitless for the first 2 seconds, and then had me laughing immediately after. I was in Taviana in a custom barracks, looting as one does when at a very high volume (as the player was literally the other side of the wall) came the heartfelt chorus of R.Kelly's hit single 'I believe I can fly'... The sound alone startled me, but I then looked out the door of the barracks to see a lone soldier, kitted up to the nines, walking very slowly around the barracks offing Zombies with his powerful guns. It was quite the site I tell you. He was taking all the heat off me so I could loot the barracks. Not a word was uttered. It is quite the experience to loot a group of barracks with soulful RnB playing away in the background. Revelating, almost.

    What's your reason to KOS?

I reckon out of the first 10 deaths I had, 8 of them were where I naively ran in front of people, often without a weapon, and tried to talk to them and immediately got shot down. I would say if I KOS these days, it is through fear I am about to be KOS'd myself. It is rare that I will just cut someone down without them even knowing I am there.
  4. I agree that if I want to spend my hard earned money on upgrading my PC then there should be a tangible benefit to doing so. I should not be held back in terms of graphics display because someone else does not have as a good a PC. I understand it is frustrating from your end and you may not have a job/be old enough to earn your own money, but if you put the effort into building a great setup, you should be able to reap the rewards and not be penalised for other people not having one.

    The Frustration of DayZ

Fortunately I had left the ATV in a bush so hopefully it will still be there. Does anyone know how long a camp will last on a server if it goes undetected by players? As in, after a certain amount of time/server resets, will the stuff be returned to its spawn location?

    The Frustration of DayZ

I have been playing the game for about a fortnight and have loved almost every second. I say almost because of the one solitary second today that ruined about 2 hours worth of hard graft. I had delicately made my way from Elektro, through Berezino to the NEAF collecting enough loot for a small (very) army and collecting a lovely ATV en route, and finally started to collect the kind of gear that could protect me against a mid-level bandit. All was going well and I was really hopeful for the future; even collecting a map and a watch extra to give to a friendly who might stumble my way in the hope of gaining an ally. The server restarted as I had built my camp and so, being a shortish drive from the NEAF I decided to give it another raid to see the freshly spawned loot. I ran around the best part of the airfield and decided, as I was a bout to return to my camp, to visit the fire station to gain some final supplies. I went right to the top and there was nothing of any note, so I decided to make my way down and back to the camp for a bite to eat and a cold pepsi before trying to find a friend to share my loot with. It was as I descended from the top flight of stairs that the cumbersome glitches that Day Z is plagued by decided to inflict a cruel fate on my hearty soldier. I glitched through the wall and fell to my death... I love Day Z and the glitches generally just wet my appetite for the standalone that will be free of their evil tyranny...but this one made me so frustrated I had to log off and go for a run to clear my head and regroup. I know this sort of thing is commonplace amongst this community and I hope you can spare a minute to mourn my brave soldier cruelly taken from us by the God of Glitchery. Farewell King of Blackheath, soldier 20 (or so, I'm not counting...honest).

The switch from console to PC

I am intrigued as to how this went? You all sorted for Day Z? I currently play on my 42 inch LED and am desperate for a proper PC Monitor as the input lag does make it somewhat difficult in a firefight on Day Z. Gotta wait a paycheck of two for it though...

    New To Dayz

I recently built my first one, and although there a possibly better deals out there for the more experienced PC builder, for a first try I am pretty happy. The spec is: CPU - AMD A8 5600k - Quad Core 3.6Ghz GPU - GTX 660 Ti (2gb) Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-DH3 (probably my weakest element) RAM - 8gb Kingston 1333mhz Hard Drive - 128Gb SanDisk SSD I can run Dayz on high settings and it has no problems. All of that cost me about £650 (with dvd drive, mouse, keyboard and case etc, as I started with absolutely nothing)

    I just dont know..... :/

I built my first PC about 10 days ago and it was the best decision I have made in terms of gaming. PC gaming is a different kettle of fish because of the graphics/mods that are possible. I would highly recommend even selling your console to get your budget as high as possible. I can safely say I will never look back...

    need abit of help/advice!

I literally just built my first PC, for £423 in total, but that is not including a graphics card. If you include the graphics card it came to just under £700. The reason I separated them as my motherboard comes with an integrated card so you could get away with £400, but you definitely could not run DayZ as the integrated graphics card is not powerful enough. I have not gone in too high-end but spent £220 on the graphics card to ensure I can run DayZ on high. Judging by your responses you need to read up on how to build a PC as choosing the right components is a bit of a minefield when you first start. If you want someone else to do the leg work (finding out if parts are compatible etc) then this website is decent, as it will only ever let you put together parts that are compatible: http://www.computerplanet.co.uk/ Be warned however, you will pay a little more doing it this way as you are paying someone to build it for you. Basically, from my knowledge that I have picked up so far, a budget of £400 will not allow you to get a PC capable of running modern games on high (someone more knowledgeable may correct me on that). The computers you have been posting all seem to have integrated graphics cards only, so although they may have sufficient processors/RAM, they will not be able to cope with the graphics demand that modern games have. Hope this helps, feel free to PM me and I will tell you what I did as I know from very recent experience it is daunting for a first timer! Cheers
