No, we need helicopters AND planes! Just the An-2 Colt though. No VTOL's or fighter jets or bombers. Can land in a field, fly slow, and can't destroy all of Cherno.

I was approaching Stary Sobor, just like I do in every life so I can grab the goodies and head for the NWA. Approaching for the South at midnight, I see a silhouette in the grain fields, near the bushes. Sniper! I get on the ground and begin rolling toward the nearby bushes. Using my 3rd person lamehax, I peer around the bushes. He is definetly looking at my direction. He appears to have an M107 .50 caliber sniper. A little obvious for a sniper position, but a good view of the tents that nobody checks before entering. Time for action. I roll silently around the bushes to his position. *switches to sidechat* Zak: "Stary Sobor, gimme something good." The sniper seems to switch focus. Zak: "Nothing in this tent." I continue rolling. Zak: "BRB, gotta piss." The sniper waits patiently. I lose sight of him, but don't forget his position. I roll another 2 minutes until I expect to be 30m away from the sniper position. I run out of the bushes and brandish my Winchester... ...at a cow. "Moo." "Oh." Should have put my antialiasing on high. Can't go to Stary Sobor now, I bet 3 snipers are already set up. :dodgy:

:shy: If I picked one of those up, that would really rustle my jimmies!

What is up with all the sociopaths? I've seen people talk about how pleasurable killing is and how it makes them hard. I've seen suggestions to torture players and make them scream. Now we have people who want bursting brains and tearing off limbs. :-/ Probably the same kids who tortured lizards in their backyard with pliers and a microscope, giggling maniacly while wearing a dead rabbit for a hat.

Get a Saitek X52 Pro! ...or a Logitech Extreme 3D.
-
I'd rather we just make the An-2 one of the spawning vehicles for the airfields, since they have no weapons and fly really slow.

You can be my co-pilot :D Multiple 5 star votes, that has to count for something.

DMR + PDW is easy mode. Kill players far, kill players close.

There is nothing wrong with the way he presented his opinion regarding the community. If you are about to post "omg shuttup carebear pwn or get pwned" you don't actually have anything to say, so just leave now.

Have fun not shooting it!

ARMA II has tons of animals (you can even play them in the armory), but none of them attack you. Even wild boars don't.

That guy had the best Balota/Cherno run ever.

What is your Personal Best for Longest Days Survived?
zak757 replied to S1ippery Jim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
4 days, which is pretty sad since I am actually a pretty good survivalist when I'm not getting screwed over by glitches and my friendliness on side chat. I've died 9 times. 3 times to players, 2 of which were caused by me talking on sidechat. 1 time to zombies. The other 5 times were glitch/BS related. -
I don't see it drastically changing gameplay, but I don't see a reason NOT to add it in. Sure, why not? Just don't make it so you can smell players by themselves, having to roll around is the only way to reliably sneak players in this game.

I currently run DayZ by launching ARMA II OA from Steam with launch options "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion;CA;@DayZ" If I install this software, will I have to start in a different fashion?
-
Is this a requirement? Because I don't like having to download trivial software that I only use for a single thing.

I've had a falling 2ft death before, but this made me crylaugh even harder. I died and lost very good items, because I clicked my left mouse button exactly 1 inch from the correct option, and lost the best loot I had ever found.

I hate the AKM, zeroing sights is a pain since the majority of combat happens within 200m for me. The sights are terrible for tracking players moving left and right, so you need to guess and pray when leading targets. The massive recoil of the gun requires you to reset your sets every time you pull the trigger, and the loud noise lures zombies from everywhere within 300m. The Kobra is quieter, more accurate, and the holographic sight is easy to correct drop with. You can use it in full auto rather effectively, and you can use the sights at night. I'll definetly take it over the AKM, even if it means finding few magazines for it.

Not all of us have friends into PC gaming, and even if we do, most of them don't play military simulations. I like DayZ for it's brutal lack of forgiveness and sense of danger, but how hard can they make playing solo be? I'm good with the greater damage thing, and glad they don't clip through walls. Not a fan of increased attack range and visibility (they are partially blind by nature). They use hands to attack, and they already hit you at 3 times their arms reach.

1. When you enter a town, ALWAYS look for an 'out'. Your 'out' will be the place you run to in case you attract a zombie. This will usually be any indoor area with openable doors that is larger then a shack or gas station. 2. Zombies move very slowly inside. Find a choke points so they all line up. All weapons kill with 1 hit to the head. Rather then trying to follow their head with your sights, put it in a location that their heads will sway to. 3. Zombies can hear your gunshots easier the more you fire in succession. Space out your shots if you have the time. 4. If you are hit, bandaging has priority. Once you get inside the house, bandage up and hope you are far enough. 5. If you have no 'out', run far out of the town first and fire in the direction away from the town. Makarov takes 4 hits, 9x19mm guns take 3 hits, Revolver takes 1 or 2 hits. M1911 is always an instant kill. 6. NEVER run across pavement. ALWAYS walk across pavement. Grass is quieter. Either stand-walk or crouch-run when within 20m of zombies (depending if they are looking at you). Crouch walk within 10m of zombies. Go prone and roll sideways if you get very close, or if you are walking by a hangar you plan to loot (players will know if you move otherwise). 7. If you have alot of ammo (5+ mags) and a gun that has a noise level of "moderate" or lower, pick off zombies near locations you plan to head to.

The SVD is already in the game, with a ghillie net. http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=SVD_CAMO SVD is one of my top ten weapons in the world, because of how stupidly durable it is, and the genius of the PSO-1 scope mounted on it. Built in range finder to measure your targets that is self explanatory.

The PDW is listed as "moderate" in the noise category. The Glock is listed as "low" in the noise category. It's also worth noting that zombies can hear your shots easier the more you fire, so going full auto is like firing off an Enfield. The Glock is one of 2 unsilenced weapons with a "low" rating, the other being the Remmy 870. Both have the same damage and effective range. Glock magazines are common, PDW ammo is as common as Revolver clips because it uses 6 mag types. Flashlight is extremely awesome. Depends if I am in a high traffic area or not. If I am in a city or Balota/NW Airfield, I want the PDW. If I am alone in the North East at night, I want the Glock.

Here is a suggestion I have. DayZ is in Alpha right now. The point of any Alpha is to get the core of the game working, move to the beta and fix all minor issues and make some changes such as balancing, THEN the full version is ready and you begin adding things. We are getting trivial things like temperature, infections and antibiotics, dogs soon. We are also getting terrible server desync, zombies clipping through walls, weapons and ammo disappearing, spawning in oceans and forests, inability to join servers, loot not spawning, terrible zombie pathfinding, unplaceable tents, and hacking. Stop adding things that have little effect on the overall experience of the game, and fix the damn thing first. When ARMA III comes out, I hope to play a fully functioning and working Beta or even Full version that everyone can enjoy. Not having to download 4 different things to bypass "retrying to authenticate" and avoid picking up clothing so I spawn where I last was. I have lost high value rifles and items and died 3 out of 7 times to glitches. Alpha is for getting the game working. The game does not work. Make the game work, and then begin adding things. Preferably things like incentive to interact with players beyond killing them for no reason at all. Teamwork, robbery, even proper banditry are all gone in favor of a 225km^2 deathmatch.
