    DayZ FOR XBOX 360!!

Like ARMA would run on an Xbox.
  2. US 100 has a side chat enabled, fun server.
  3. I'm not a soldier or a physicist, but I do know some basic scientific principles. For example, a gun that is 6ft long should not fit inside a backpack that is 3ft long. Science.

    An-2 Colt (Large Biplane)

Just another idea for an item, if the An-2 was brought into DayZ. If you clip your wing on something like a tree or post, you are basically stuck since there is no "reverse" gear for the An-2. You will spin around into an object and be stuck there. But I think a "towbar" feature would be neat, or basically a tool that allows you to drag a plane around while it is turned off. Because the Colt is pretty heavy, maybe make it a group effort (2 people is fine). Toolbars can be found at industrial areas, although I don't know how exactly they would work.
  5. I absolutely love the PSO-1. I'm a terrible judge of distance, and some servers have the "middle mouse rangefinder" disabled. I would prefer it to the M107/AS50, which feel incredibly out of place in Chernarus.

Totally not a bump. Definetly not.

    DayZ Stories

I had accidently found a server with sidechat in it, even though I thought that it was erased completely. Of course, I make the same mistake that had costed me many deaths before, I talked too much. I asked everyone if they had ever seen a helicopter crash site, because I had never seen one before. Literally 30 seconds after asking this, I crested a hill in the forests, and I see a crashed chopper out in the distance! NICE! Of course, because I'm a moron, I have to mention the fact that I found one and that I might be psychic in the chat. Someone explains that the zeds respawn every 2nd minute, which is too much for me to handle, so I mark the location on the map, and now everyone can see where it is. I was pretty confident I could handle this on my own. I had 9 magazines for my AK-74, or 270 bullets, or 270 kills if you are a good shot like me (racked up about 124 kills, 118 being headshots, and I had 1 bandit kills, no murders). So of course I rush the helicopter, shortly followed by a torrent of gunshots. Sounds like a 7.62mm of some kind. I rush back up the hill and zigzag all the way and survive. Why do I even need to check this place out? I have 270 bullets and a good rifle! So then I do it again, but I come from the exact opposite direction, and scan the treelines for bandits using my binocs. I see nobody around. Then a gunshot comes from the LEFT of me. WHAT? I run in the opposite direction and bob/weave through as many trees as possible. The gunfire stops again. This guy may have no aim to speak of but damn does he have good eyes! What do I do? I begin "rollodexing", or continuously rolling across the ground, determined to find this jackass and put a bullet in the back of his head. I will not be robbed of my first chopper! When you are rolling, you make absolutely zero sound. The foliage is thick, and I am using pine trees and shrubbery to my advantage. Surely I can find this guy without him spotting me, I'm not exactly being predictable! I don't see anyone for a good 25 minutes. Where did he go? I am bored, so I decide to stand up. My boots make a rustling sound on the detritus. I check my backpack for something that might be of use to me, maybe a frag grenade to scare my enemy or something. Perhaps a smoke to throw him off course. As I search my gear, I hear rustling sounds behind me. His scoped FN FAL presses against my head and fires. You are dead.
  8. Yep, I spawned on the coast too. With all my gear, at the very least. I was somewhere in the woods heading up to the NE Airfield, and the next time I log in, I'm at Kos... K... Kosomov? And the game crashes at Balota, so I try another server and spawn in Elektro. Not cool man.

    An-2 Colt (Large Biplane)

And still nothing confirmed, mentioned, or rejected by Rocket. 10 pages and 35 likes so far. If there was difficulty in implementing it, I'd at least like to know what is the problem.

    DayZ Stories

OOOH MAN, my hands are still shaking! Fairly new character, solo, making my way through Cherno with nothing but a hatchet and some fairly basic equipment. Looted a house, smashed a hospital and looted some shit, got binoculars and a map at the supermarket. I had had a couple shots from a Winchester, saw another survivor, even heard a car going by (but I didn't see it myself). Tense, but uneventful and I had only killed a single zombie so far. Entered the office building to loot the place. On the second floor I found a room with an M1911 in it, but no ammo. I frowned, because I already had a 1911 but no ammo for it. Hoping the disappearing gun glitch still worked, I dropped my current one expecting it to vanish so I could take the other (I don't want the others having something to shoot me with). 2 guns are now on the floor, and then, footsteps. I freeze. Creak, creak, creak. I move slowly to the left so nobody can see me in the doorway and I can surprise them with my hatchet. Creak, creak, creak. My enemy (face it, who isn't anymore?) is snooping around the rooms, and his footsteps louden or silence depending on how far he is from me. About 2 minutes later of intensity, the footsteps get progressively louder. Maybe he will be unarmed, maybe he will have a hatchet like me, maybe he will be decked out in amazing gear? Creak, creak, CREAK. He appears and I swing my hatchet as fast as I can. Surprising the all the shit that is holy out of him, he sprays 23 bullets around the room, 2 of which hit me at point blank. We both fall down, but I am unconsious, and he is dead. I get up and tend my wounds and inject morphine, I have a fracture and about 6000 blood left. Flies buzz around his corpse, and I check out the spoils. MP5A5 2 MP5 Mags (only 28 rounds total) 3 M1911 Mag (full!) Compass Water Bottle ALICE Backpack (full of random ammo and meds) I got weapons and navigation. Good, very very good. I need blood though and I have nobody to give me a transfusion and no meat to cook. I only have 1 can of food and having more would be nice before I go. I'm scared of getting shot though, because I've been really lucky so far.

    Slenderman Easter-Egg

YES. Extremely rare chance of happening if you are: Alone Very deep in woods Playing at night A slow beat of the bass drum would begin playing quietly. The louder it is, the closer he is to you. The Slendermen will be anywhere that isn't in your line of sight (well, he won't spawn in LOS but you can see him if you turn around) and 8 feet tall, as well as having multiple limbs. If he gets too close, he will attack you with a strike 3x the intial damage of a zombie, but he can be outran just by exiting the woods. It would completely shit-your-pants-cry-and-never-sleep-again terrifying. But people want hardcore, right?
  13. I've been dealing with this since I bought ARMA II, but I never asked it because googling it yielded no results. I assumed there was no fix, but this is getting bad and extremely annoying. The occurences are random and don't appear to occur due to any ingame event, but on average they occur every 45 minutes. It has yet to happen during a gunfight, but I bet it will. EVGA GTX 560Ti Superclocked Intel i5-2500k @ 3.7GHz Corsair Vengeance 8Gb DDR3 RAM Western Digital Caviar Black 500Gb 7200RPM Windows 7 64-bit This has been occuring before patch 1.7, after patch 1.7, with and without beta patches, on various servers. It doesn't matter if I launch using Steam, the game folder, or the Six Launcher. It occurs in ARMA II, so it doesn't have to do with DayZ itself, but I was able to find nothing concerning it. Here is what happens: I will be playing the game, going about my business. The screen freezes for a couple seconds, and it appears as though my game minimizes. I can see my desktop wallpaper and icons. However, my computer doesn't appear to think I changed windows at all. I can still hear everything in the game, and all my controls work. When I press G, I can hear my inventory being opened. When I use ASWD, I can hear my character moving. The only thing effected seems to be the visuals. I usually hit Alt + Tab to "switch" to a different window (usually the one I see) and hit right click; close on ARMA II OA. Either that, or Control + Alt + Delete, and end the process. Then I log back onto DayZ and everything is as normal until it happens again. The hell is going on?

    An-2 Colt (Large Biplane)

I know that the An-2 has "damaged" texture, as well as broken glass. I don't see why repairing it isn't possible.

    DayZ Logic

"The game is too easy and PvP is too common. The fix? Make it harder! Once things are hard, group play will become important." Game becomes harder, PvP gets worse. "The game is easy and PvP is even worse. The fix? Make it really hard! Then people are going to HAVE to play in groups to survive!" Game becomes harder, PvP gets worse. "The game isn't as hard as it should be and PvP is terrible. The fix? Make it a living nightmare! Group play is going to be the only way to survive!" Game becomes harder. PvP getse worse. "Zombies aren't real threats, just annoyances!" Zombies can be outsmarted but can see you perfectly still when you are crouching in the grass at 100m. Zombies become incredibly annoying but are less of an actual threat. "More difficulty means the game is more realistic, and that means the gameplay will be better! Difficulty = Realism = Gameplay!" The game is less fun to play. "This game is supposed to simulate real life!" You cannot simulate life in a game, much less a game with a broken engine. You honestly think I'm going to starve in a wilderness full of edible plants, and thirst in a rainstorm in which I could cup my hands together and drink? Really? Peace out. I'll be back when DayZ for ARMA 3 comes out to see if it has improved. If not, whatever.

    An-2 Colt (Large Biplane)

Yes' date=' it does just that. Also it takes away a demand for decent pilots, because landing is the only thing with this plane that is somewhat difficult. [/quote'] Because you can only land on airstrips obviously, it's not like there are hundreds of fields you can safely land and take off from that the autopilot can't help you with at all. Another cool thing about the An-2 that you can't do in the huey is glide. Turn off the engine and you can perform a stealthy insertion almost anywhere on the map given enough initial altitude. Yeah, the An-2 is really floaty. Even with the flaps practically vertical, it just glides forever. You have to point the nose at the ground just to land it. It would be cool if you landed in a field with the engines off, raided the place, and the moment you turn it back on, every zombie within a kilometer starts rushing you. Another awesome scenario I'm picturing: it is night and the pilot has no NVG's. He calls his friends on sidechat to set up a landing strip, and they place a rectangular outline with road flares to make an airstrip.
  18. Or maybe "you will respawn in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1..." with an option to cancel the countdown. ARMA 2 has some odd thing that causes my mouse to act erratically when on menus. Three times, when reaching for the controls button, it has glitched over to the respawn option the moment I click it. The other two times I just laughed it off, but this time I had some pretty decent gear going and I felt a little robbed. Can't be hard to implement, can it?
  19. I was on my way to Stary Sober with a Revolver and Winchester, with nothing but a Coyote Patrol on my back. Pretty basic gear, and I was looking for something more so I could head up North. This would be my "good" life. I will live longer then 3 days this time. I will not reveal my location on sidechat and lose my AK-74 Kobra this time. This time, I will be professional. While walking, my dreadful but unfixable glitch happened. My screen disappeared into the taskbar. I could hear the game and use the controls, but I couldn't see anything but my desktop background. "Dammit" I cursed, and hit Alt + F4. Hopefully the game hasn't remedied this yet. I logged back on, but the server had banned me for "hitting Alt F4 like a coward" and I was booted out. So I head to low population server with good ping, so I don't get blasted by bandits at the military camp. I log in. My screen is glitching out, I figured because of how I shut off the game, so I turn on VSync expecting that to remedy the problem. It sort of did, but not really. I entered the camp, met nobody. Threw a smoke grenade to the hills, and the 60% of the zeds charged at it. Beautiful. I looked through the tents, finding the first AR-15 I had seen in this game. All the weapons I had found beforehand were AK-74's, AKM's, M1014's, even a DMR. Here on the ground was a shiny M4A1 CCO, and I pick it up and take the STANAGs from my backpack. I smiled. I continued on my way. My screen froze for a second, and I heard a noise like BRRRZZZT (sort of like a GAU/8). Then it unfroze, and nothing had seemed to happen. Went to another tent, found an M9 SD. I'm having a great day! Pressed G to bring up my inventory, only to find that all the text was a purple block that was unreadable. Huh? I hit ESC, to see that the main menu. I need to turn off VSync or something. But of course, all the options were purple blocks. Which is the Options button again? Oh ya, the middle button, I'll hit that one. "You have died. You will respawn in 5... 4... 3..." Alt + F4

    Quiver to the toolbelt

Why not make it like shotgun rounds? Combine 4 bolts to make a quiver!
  22. 3, if I'm a fresh respawn. The scale keeps going up (stopping at a 6) the better equipment I find.

    Day Z Appreciation Thread

I appreciate DayZ, I appreciate Rocket, but I sure as hell don't approve of the DayZ community.
  24. Every time the game gets harder, cooperative play gets worse. No, just stop it. The game is perfect in difficulty as it is now. If you want super fast zombies that kill in 3 hits and can see you a mile away so you can enjoy your "hardcore gamer" badge while absolutely hating your game, go make your own mod. I play DayZ to take off stress after work. If the game isn't stress relieving, I don't want to play.
