I keep on getting a message saying bad connection... Any reason why?

Are the servers on the dayz game from steam any different from the one on the website?

Okay I know this is a very beginner question but I am running dayz through steam and I was wondering what are some good servers, like no hacks just the normal game?

I just got dayz mod for steam with arma II and arrowhead. I can join a server and load a mission on dayz but then my screen goes black and it says loading character but it doesn't get past that screen and I have waited for 5 minutes. I'm not sure if my computer can't run or what is wrong?
