    "Bambis..."

Its just a word guys, i dont think its a derogative term when you consider all the things people will call you online in a game and when you consider that the guy who coined it helped alot of 'bambis'. Its just liike noob and such internet terms, these things stick im afraid.

    Everybody heads for cherno!

lol thats a real addiction on DayZ, it turns you into an online reclusive, socially akward, paranoid hoarder! The first guy i met who showed me the ropes had a camp in the hills, with loot in his tent and a atv stashed up there. From that moment i knew what my goals were, i wanted my own tent, my own hill top forrest and a car to hide in the bushes! B) im not there yet, but one day! After i achieve that.....meh i might head North ;)

    Crashed Heli - No Loot

yeah i found my first heli crash site last night, but to my dismay all that was lying nearby was a camo outfit and a shed load of stanag rounds but no weapons etc. I take it this was most likely also looted ahead of me?

Advice for new PC user? :D

Yeah it happened sula....in a little, rarely visited village.....and i trecked through endless forrests for 40 damned minutes, got lost countless times, nearly died several times, killed many a zed with a hatchet; just to go loot my body and get it all back! Bounty hunter im playing on a server that has a usually low to mid size populatuion (handy for learning) seemingly few bandits, and genrally friendly people who'll advise you in side chat etc. Also you get a fair few new guys popping in there. One guy showed me the ropes on there and i've been playing there abit while i get to grips with the map/game. 'DayZ Chernarus UK noobs welcome' 85.234.146.100:2352' Im on after 8pm usually. Seems as good a place to learn as any before i going into a server with heavy numbers and bandits.
  5. I'm new and havent killed anyone directly in cold blood, not my style yet but i've had very limited contact with other hummies for whatever reason. Anyway last night i spawn new near Kamenka, its pitch black dark and i head into town to try and get some essentials. All i bag is a crowbar and im trying to sneak along when i aggro a zed, at the time i had the crowbar in my toolbelt so i just ran and needless to say i ended up being tailed by a group of zeds. i ran along the road out of town with the zeds hot on my tail when i see what looks like a flashlight on the road, at first i thought it was the graphics glitching but no it was a flashlight, i decided to run over to him in desperation hoping he might be armed, so there i am running circles around this guy, with zeds chasing while he frantically flashes his tourch around trying to see wtf is going on. In the end he runs, i follow, and the zeds follow me. I end up hiding in a bush and he ends up prone at the roadside still with his flashlight on, i suspect he got crippled. I drew my crowbar and direct chatted asking if he had a weapon, he replied that he had a hunting knife! He ended up getting mauled and i manged to kill the 4-5 zeds that were there with many a swing of the crowbar.....as i looted his body in the darkness i kinda felt bad, he was obviously very new (hunting knife comment, flashlight all over the show) and i had gotten him killed. I felt sorry for him but then as the saying goes......rather him than me ;) maybe not so ashamed but thought i'd share in the absence of cold blooded murder so far.
  6. *or teleporting you to an arena with a bunch of other people in a free for all with a helicopter in the middle for the winner, which the hacker will force eject them from so they don't even get the chopper. Personal experience." That actually sounded pretty awesome....accept for the force eject.....talk about playing god lol
  7. That sounds pretty awesome, i am going to come check your server out at some point!

    I've been wondering.... Why Chernarus?

ha thats amazing, love the 'anyone in cherno?' caption....
  9. Hi all, Been lurking for a few days prior to getting DayZ, im a long time Arma player and finally jumped on, made sense as a big walking dead fan. My only gripe is why the hell didnt i do it ages ago! Played for the first time last night, it was great. I was alone and unarmed trying to scavenge some supplys when a guy who was close to where i was asked for help in side chat, i was close to his location (according to him, as i had no map) and agreed. I was afraid he might be out to kill me but as a complete bambi i had little to loose. Others warned me it may be a trap but i went along and met this guy. I gave him a blood transfusion and pain killers and in return he gave me a water bottle and a lee enfield with ten rounds. He also took me to his camp in the woods and showed me how to do a supply run in a near by village. I learned to fill my water bottle up and how to best deal with zeds in the town. It may sound like basics but it was invaluable. There was this moment where im stood there behind him, and hes telling me not to fire my gun due to noise while he is killing zeds with his crossbow and hatchet, it was a very walking dead-esc moment. Alas after we went our seperate ways i got too ambitious in that same village and got cornered, ran out of ammo and got eaten. Now im alone again somewhere else, i've managed to get a hatchet and some food and drink, (killed my first cow) and a map. At the end of play last night i was laying low as night fall closed in. Tonight when i play i know im going to need to get a gun to protect myself, had no luck finding one yet. I guess the point of this post is to say that luckily my first encounter with another survivor was a friendly one and a great learning experience that got me off on the right foot. I know in the future i'll come across guys who just want to kill and rob me, but damn that just adds to the excitment. Maybe when im an experinced player, i might just do as he did for me and lead a bambi to water.......either that or between now and then i'll develop into a cold hearted murderer who'll do anything for a bit of loot! Great game, loads of atmosphere and great community.

Advice for new PC user? :D

Thats exactly how im starting to feel, i've not got a great deal compared to what is possible but i have the equipment to hunt and feed myself, light camp fires, meds, a map, binocs, compass...I feel very nervy about contact with humies as it took some effort and close calls to even gather that much. Thats the genius of the game, making you feel the survival instinct and tension.
  11. The dinner bell haha, nice. Yes i learned that very lesson the hard way, a huge hoard overwhelmed me, as you pointed out me firing and dropping each zed only brought another 5.... :| I made a supply run earlier today in total darkness with a hatchet (had no gun but landed a pistol during the run), i dont shoot now at zeds unless totally unavoidable. It felt great sneaking through the wandering zeds in pitch black darkness with the rain pouring down with the hatchet at the ready! Needless to say i went into the hills after the run, lit my first fire, cooked my first steak and had a can of soda to celebrate making it out alive and get warm. Question is tonight do i risk another run in the same town or hit the road and see what's waiting elsewhere..... cheers for the welcomes!
  12. Thanks for the heads up but yeh i had heard that one through a fellow bambies troubles in side chat. Many thanks, i'll be sure to check you guys out in the future!
  13. Ha yeh the backpack and inventory takes some getting used to thats for sure, i got into a panic a few times trying to put stuff in it while the noises of zombies close by got louder :beans:
  14. It will be worth it m8. im sure you'll have some stories yourself within a few hours of play. Dont be discouraged by how difficult it can seem early on. Before i met that guy i got lost in forrest for ages lol, i think the fact its really challenging is a big part of the fun. and thanks for the welcomes guys
