  1. Sorry you didnt like it but thanks for the beans :) and for the record i do like the game just as it is, just a thought i had.
  2. Of course i agree that freedom is the key, i was suggesting optional objectives (i dont even like calling them that, more.....scavenging opportunities) but i hear where your coming from. I just think that the in game conditions tend to lead to everyone hanging around Cherno, Elecktro, and the airfields but i understand what you mean.
  3. I think most cars would be in bad condition after a zombie apocalypse has been going on for a while, flat tyres, dead batteries etc. Im not against there being cars (hell i have my one hidden in the woods lol), just not loads so that everyone is driving all the time, enough so that yes its possible for cars to pass on the road but not so that everyone is racing around. it adds more value to them as something on the server. The desoloute atmosphere is what makes dayz tense, that moment when you hear a car coming along near you when you thought you were well away for other players is tense, but you dont want to hear cars roaring up and down the roads like its rush hour in New York.
  4. I look for a server with a mid populatuion size, no starter weapons and not too many vehicles. Any server with loads of vehicles, starter guns and 40 people is going to be battlefield 3, which while not a strictly bad thing is not why i play DayZ

Why do you shoot unarmed players?

You know what, i had a pretty big response to this theory of yours, but i cant be arsed with an internet debate over philosophy, i came here to talk light hearted and enjoy dayz stuff. Your apparent lack of a moral code, the fact you dont see the place for one in society and the fact your would laud a man with a gun and the will to use it as a man who is strong (like Adam Lanza yeh?) is deeply flawed and actually worrying. In fact i'd say your trolling really, either that or your a first year philosophy student just dying to unload all his new found knowledge in a gaming forum at the first opportunity he gets.
  6. The moment you go from an unarmed fresh spawn to a guy with a rifle and a pistol, no matter how low end they are is a moment where you finally feel a little more secure in dayz, its a big first step in your survivors game life. If it can kill another player or a zombie, or a cow for dinner then its good!

Any trading posts need a guard???

Sounds like fallout 3! :) But seriously i didnt know people played in such a manner (im pretty new to it), sounds cool. B)
  9. I often hear a weird sort of ambient sound in the distance like a music but not if you know what i mean? Like a vague, ghostly loudspeaker noise in the distance? I used to have music turned off but i turned it onto one notch and started noticing it, now the first time i heard it i was right next to green mountin....to say i shit myself would be an understatment (i had been reading about the myths of green mountin not a day earlier), i abandoned the supply run i was preparing to make on a near by town (a combination of the nosie and a bus in the town exploding had me spooked to fuck), ran the hell away and eventually starved to death as a result.... :|

    noob needs input

The only time you want car parts is if you've secured a car and need to repair it. Only kill zombies if cornered and have no other choice, they are not worth wasting ammo on or even risking hatchet killing as that exposes you to damage. Just avoid them, run away, break line of sight and then move away behind another building/obstacle. Try moving slower around zombies and stay low if you dont want a chase. Food can spawn in most spawn points i beleive, if you see an animal, kill and gut, collect meat, cook at earliest opportunity, keep some handy to eat and some in backpack. You need a hunting knife, wood pile and matches to make a fire to cook it, if you carry a hatchet you can harvest a woodpile in the forrests by chopping some trees. If you want morphine or medical supplies you need to loot a hospital or medical tent, theres plentiful meds in there....but watch out as other players with itchy trigger fingers usally need morphine too and they dont like sharing. Dont cut yourself if you see people grabbing all the loot for themselves......instead why not purpotrate some robbery and murder? Such activities may be frowned upon but you will feel a tinge of excitment as you go through all their gear and if you had the drop on them; no-one need ever know it was you! teeehehehe ;)

    DAYZ QuickDrawing!

Indeed, often found on the commonly used 'sleeping human face' canvas.

    difficulty being self sufficiant

Get the hunting knife, matches and hatchet. Killing animals yields a shit laod of meat that can last ages, cook it, keep some in your back pack. Get a drink bottle to refill too. Once you have those you dont need to rely on finding food cans and drink by luck....although animals can be a bit difficult however once you get one the food is plenty for a while. Learn where water pumps are to refill your water bottle too! Until you get those items you'll have to make regular runs to the supermarkets etc. Risky business but its what you gotta do. Once you get that gear you can hang in the woods with your tent and car much longer ;)

Why do you shoot unarmed players?

I dont, its lame. But anything from an axe up constitutes some manner of threat, and im jumpy around people on this game....mainlly because they tend to shoot at you no matter what you do or do not do, armed or not.

    Controversial?

Sounds alot like my first ever session on this game a week or so again....minus riding cars and planes that is! I also was helped by a guy after i gave him blood, taken to his camp and given a gun etc. It was a great first experience. Since then i've come across plenty of kos bandit types and even killed a guy on sight out of fear myself (basically turned and faced a guy indoors at close quaters....it just happened). You'll come across all sorts but if you find a server where good things are happening stick with it i say.

    Everyone kills me

I've only been playing a week or so too and I had a bit of a rude awakening myself on this game on one particular server where everyone was worse than a kos twat, they were kos, scream down the mic, tea bag you, shoot you in the leg and then satchel charge you type of assholes (that actually happened). I spawned new on one life and in 15 seconds some guy with a bandit skin has ran up to me with a pistol and shot me dead, he was waiting it seemed for someone to spawn. i've also agreed to meet someone to do a blood transfusion while unarmed and the guy just killed me for fun. I tried a few servers and have one where there is little kos play, its a more considered pace and people get on more, sure sometimes theres a bit of bandit action but word spreads on the server and it kinda adds to the excitment as its not the norm. The 'deathmatch' type servers are lame and barely skim the surface of what this game can be. But as someone said, the last thing i'd do is hang around elektro and cherno on a busy server, and walking the road between them? thats probably the deadliest road of all.
  16. <_< Dont we already do enough hiking for nothing in this game?
  17. nox81

    Bandages... what's the point?

but isnt that the point? An essential survival item, plentiful though it is, that you must carry to stay alive? you can 'choose' to carry less bandages for more ammo etc. but then the trade off/risk etc. is on you.

Worth it to buy now or wait?

Buy now, Arma2Co is a great game in my opinion as it is, dayz is great and theres plenty of time to play and enjoy until the stand alone which is at earliest gong to go alpha in June, probably be longer knowing how these things often work. I only started playing dayz around a week ago and its been well worth getting!
  19. nox81

Crooked Admins!?!? Say it aint so...

Why do admins need to get involved with that? your supposed to be able to play dayZ anyway you like so long as your not cheating. I think thats a shit deal. Dont play there.
  20. I only just started playing dayZ so it suits me fine, i can get some more time in on the mod, enjoy playing the excellent A2CO and the promising A3 alpha...then at some point in all that there will be the Dayz standalone. Long live games like Arma and DayZ.

    What's wrong with Berezino?

I went to Berezino last night for the first time on a server with around 25-30 people on at the time. It was deserted but i didnt really get any 'great' loot and nearly got killed by zeds. I think it a good place to go if your in the area but not too many spawn in the south with the intention of sweeping up to the north east it seems. I havent even been near the NWAF yet as probably half of the players on the server i go on are around there killing each other and the other half are spawning in the south and travelling back there having being killed.

Edited Post: nevermind, should make my own thread

How long DayZ will make Arma III?

One thing im wondering is will the stand alone have ragdoll style death physics? would be cool to see zombies knocking people down and tearing gory blood soaked chunks of people, and that after they die they're body gets munched on and left a bloody mess. I have to say though that from my time with the alpha im very impressed with the early state of A3's engine, its very good and seems more optimized than previous engines. Im sure once its at full release and tweaked it will be an excellent game.
  24. I dont mind banditry when done with a bit of brutal savvy. I like to see an organised, well armed group of bandits raiding towns as a group, driving in a bus together, attacking other 'groups' camps, hunting them down etc. fighting other organsied groups, doing hold ups. What i hate is what i experienced for the first time last night, people who camp the spawn points wait for you to appear, attack you while your unarmed, shot you in the legs and while your lay there do rediculous tea-bag moves over you, talk shit in a whiny voice down the mic before putting a satchel charge next to you and killing you. Its just immature and pointless to me, the game can be very immersive and atmospheric, but shit like that belongs elsewhere. The problem is to facilitate all the great things in the game you need freedom, and freedom will bring that sort of opportunity for some idiots. When servers are plauged with that kind of thing people need to club together to deal with it and help each other loot and move away from the coast or kill the troll bandits doing it. Problem was all the other lone wolves were just killing each other too but with well armed bandits just hanging around waiting for the new spawns it made things really frustrating. i guess the only solution is to get a yourself 'home' server where you know that kind of thing will either get stamped on or does not happen? What i would like to see though regarding appearances is more customisation options with what you wear, how you look and the potential protection it offers you etc as opposed to the current hero/bandit system, maybe the standalone will have it?
