US 420 Dallas VANILLA DAYZ SERVER! Newly Opened, Staying Till Standalone. Just wanted to drop a quick post about a new server just opened up called US 420 Dallas. Its a private hive that is an EXACT replica of the vanilla DayZ. We have active admin's that DO NOT have control over anything except bans. They do have direct contact with me if something was to arise that required a server reset or needed my attention. All server resets and administration is done by me personally and access is not given to anyone else to maintain the vanilla feel of our server. You will find NO admin abuse on this server as we are very passionate about making this as close to playing on the public hive as possible. For this reason I have limited the control of my few admins. All my admins are mature (25+ years) people that I see on a daily basis. Personally I am turning 31 this year and really just want to have a server that's as legit as public hive but without the frustrations of items not being saved, or characters disappearing from one day to another. A little about myself... I am 30, live south of Dallas in TX, and am a store manager for Gamestop. I have been a gamer since my young days, spending most of my time on MMO's like Ultima Online and everything since then. I am a strong believer in a fair gaming environment. I feel competition is what gaming is all about and I think everyone should have a level playing field. I have hosted severs on several games and currently host a few from my home PC. Administering servers is something I am very familiar with and feel that I can offer a great fair environment for anyone who plays with us. All that being said, I play with a group of about 5 guys. Very rarely are we all online at the same time as we all have jobs so we are not some super force to reckon with. I have been playing DayZ the longest which would be around a month and a half now. ALL of the other guys have had 2 weeks or less in experience with DayZ or ARMA. I have never played ARMA before DayZ, although I had experience with Operation Flashpoint. So we are far from cold-blooded killers. Most of us are more interested in finding a few friendlies and hunting the bandits that prey on bambies. You don't have to worry about a squad of super-geared admins flying in choppers slaughtering everyone. None of us have even been in a chopper before. So we welcome everyone to join our server, setup camp, and prepare for a ton of Vanilla DayZ fun! We plan to run and actively support this server till Rocket releases the standalone. The release date is unknown but know that you will have a safe place to plop your tent on US 420 Dallas until then. This server is VERY fresh, so get on and get to it while all the spawns are new! They should spawn in just fine next time. That is a known bug in DayZ (and ARMA) and it will normally clear up after a few min. I have tried to implement a few suggested fixes and they have helped make it less common, but it does still happen and I have not found a 100% fix yet. -Drunkpunk

No hacked anything detected in weeks. Have had a few hackers join but we are quick to ban them before they even load in. As far as side chat I am leaving it active. The benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I did have a message on the server telling people how to turn VON off to mute side chat but combined with the Gotcha antihack and battleye spam I felt it was getting excessive. Best thing to do is just spread the info by word of mouth. As for the activity on side chat I do NOT monitor voice comms. Much like Xbox Live anything goes for voice comms on side chat, if you don't like it turn VON off. Personally I always have VON off and it does NOT effect voice comms on the other channels. Now the text based side chat I do monitor for any talk of hacking or exploits. I also monitor for racial slurs. Other then that, this is a mature game, so you should be able to handle the rest. -Drunkpunk

APEX has 4-5 members on the server and I am aware of at least 3 more groups of multiple players on the server. I wouldn't say there are a bunch of clans running around dominating the server but we do have a few solid groups of players running around. -Drunkpunk

Just wanted to drop a line about side chat. I do not police side chat on my server. Much like Xbox live I cannot filter the voice comms. I will not tolerate talk of hacking or racism but everything else goes. IF you do NOT want to hear side chat just goto options under AUDIO and turn VON all the way down. This will mute the voice comms on side chat but will NOT effect other channels. This means if you turn VON all the way down you CAN still hear voice chat in other channels. I appreciate the kind words. I am certainly working hard to snuff out any hacker presence. I know that Towhook was accusing a few players of hacking due to getting killed shortly after the players in question logged in. However I could find no malicious activity, AND they also were able to log in with my new anti-hack measures which are very strict. So not everyone that kills you is a hacker. That being said, kids have a lot of free time. Where there is a will there is a way, and given enough time ANY server will get hacked. All I can do is promise I will look into any claims of hacking and will restore any losses due to this. Thanks for playing on US 420 Dallas -Drunkpunk

New anti-hack is in place. This will scan for scripts and not allow the player to join if anything is found. Report any issues with it here. -Drunkpunk

Well the new anti-hack would scan for hacks and the boot you lol. So I disabled it till I figure it out.

I am implementing a new anti hack measure that was sent to me by LuckyStrikes. It gets injected into the DayZ mission file so it will offer another level of protection that will be much harder to bypass then Battleye is. -Drunkpunk

Also I wanted to drop a line and answer your question eariler about why you havent seen my online. I just built a new PC about 2 months ago, and after 3 weeks it wouldnt boot anymore. Sent the motherboard in, and they repaired that, but apparently my solid state drive also died. So I am currently without a desktop PC until I can send the drive in and get it fixed. I have an Alienware laptop that I play on sometimes, but I am spoiled as I have a 3 monitor surround setup I normally game on with my desktop PC. Its hard to go from a badass setup like that back to a single monitor laptop. I will be in a bit this week, but wont be around much next week. I drag race and build my 300zx Twin Turbo every year and that time has come again. I am doing some major work to the 300zx to get it ready for the races so a lot of my free time will be going towards that for the next couple months till the drag races are over. Not sure about the UAZ's, checking logs for anything on that. I am also purchasing a new anti-hack tool that should really give me control over a lot more. I will be able to see tents (can't currently) and several other features to help me admin the sever more successfully. On the UAZ's, were they hidden in trees or next to ANY objects? Vehicles tend to move a bit when the server restarts and if you leave them in close proximity they can "slide" into objects and get destroyed. As for tents, these have always been buggy with DayZ. I would recommend what I do. Place the tent, pu one item of minor importance in the tent and wait for a server restart. If the tent is there after a restart all should be safe, if it was illegally or improperly placed, the server will delete it upon next restart. -Drunkpunk

Ill get in touch with the hosting company and have them double check the database. As for the A10, did you see like the actual plane? Or just a bunch of fire? Please screen shot and post this kinda stuff on here, or email me the pic. My anti-hack is being ridiculous. I'm looking into a new one and I've contacted the creators of the anti hack to get the problem worked out. This is the first time the server population has been so high and its becoming quite a task to monitor everyone. -Drunkpunk

I understand Hitch. I'm sorry for any progress lost. I have to look at the big picture tho. You may have gotten better stuff but the other 20+ that were on the server at the time didnt. I will try to do the rollbacks in a more timely manner in the future. -Drunkpunk

Reset server to pre-hacker attack. Instead of getting mad and saying your going to quit, how about helping me fix it? Record exact times and dates for attacks like these and I will reset the server. I will NOT just ban people and restore gear without proof, but when the entire server gets attacked, its pretty obvious. So next time, simply post the time the attack occured and I will roll the server back anywhere around an hour prior. Im doing my best here Towhook. There are not many tools that admins have to stop hackers and most of our tools can be circumvented by even an idiot hacker. As the server population grows, its gets more visibility. More visibility = more hackers. As for the voice chat, a simple google search will reveal how to fix it. Go into options for audio in-game and turn VON all the way down. That will mute voice on side chat, but still leave voice on other channels intact. -Drunkpunk

I'm sorry Towhook, I'm on your side I promise man. Like Hitch said tho, I can't just go around rolling the server back or banning people without proof. I am working to find better detection methods. Until then video or pictures are the best thing you can give me, along with dates and exact time frames. -Drunkpunk

On a side note, Kirby doesn't really play anymore. He also backed out on paying his half of the server. So at the moment I am the only admin. I like it that way so that there is no "admin abuse" going on. I want to maintain the vanilla feel because that is what makes the game fun for me. I cant assure that if I gave admin power to someone else they would do the same. That being said, Fuzbuz also knows me in real life. He has my cell phone number and can shoot me a text if its something that needs attention immediatly. Now I do work a real job and I am not always available but I will do what I can. -Drunkpunk

Im going to be honest with you guys. I cant find any evidence of teleporting or spawning of helicopters. I checked all the parties mentioned, and I just so happened to be sitting in front of my admin tool when all this happened. Nothing. Now I am not saying that something isnt going on, I just cant track it. If you can send me fraps links, or screenshots that show it IN PROGRESS I will gladly act on it. I wont go into detail, but its not real hard to hide from the logs. You can do a lot without teleporting or triggering log files. I do feel your pain. My crew had a nice setup also with around 10-15 tents and a few trucks. Someone found it and it was in the middle of nowhere. We lost it all, but hey thats half the fun. Theres not much to do if you have everything already! Keep me informed just like you are and I will continue to look into it. I know thats not the answer you want to hear, but I cant roll back the server 3 hours, possably cause someone else to lose some nice gear they got, on a hunch. -Drunkpunk
