Screen Very Pixelated, Can't Read the Words.
monolith1985 replied to sedge29's topic in Troubleshooting
gonna try when i get home, was trying it but was getting a black border on the center top and bottom of screen, and hitting random lag spikes, aswell as not being able to see the mouse, but i will try that :) -
ive just installed dayz on my new pc, and it decided the native resolution for my tv (32 inch HD, not a monitor) was 620x480, when changed to 1920x1080, it still looks really bad, and seems to hit random big fps drops in the main menu, then returns to normal

right click on the config files, go to properties, make sure "read-only" isnt ticked. i had that problem, i could change the settings, but if i went back into options, or reloaded the game, they would be gone. hope this helps. otherwise you can try moving all the files out as mentioned above, but then load the game up without them, and it should make a new config file...i think

UI options don't work config file won't save any of my custom settings ,please help :(

thats weird, never heard of that :/ i dont know how to help ya, but id suggest: after uninstalling the game through steam, it leaves alot of files behind, so go into your steamapps folder and delete dayz from there, then go to documents and delete all dayz folders there, that should allow you a clean install or a little extreme perhaps, but you could run a full recovery of your system, wiping it back to factory settings and removing any data stored on the hard drive, allowing you to completely start fresh ...or, and i dont know if this would work, but create a notepad folder and put it where the file normally is stored (config in steamapps, profile in documents) and name it the same, the game should read it and might edit it, adding all the info....in theory......I have no idea what this will do or if it will work, but maybe worth a try if your only option is to wipe the system and ya wanna try one more thing first -

have you got the config file marked as read only? otherwise you can delete it, and you will get a new one when you load the game -
if not exp than its probably crashing if your processor maxes out, happens sometimes could try setting dayz as high priority process in task manager, wont always let you though

ive looked at online maps a couple of times over the years, but mainly use the in game map in the mod (waypoints are a plus), but i dont the map well off, even though most open world maps i can familiarize myself with pretty well. I know the coasts well, and a few areas off the coast, and im kind of learning the road from elektro to stary, can get to NEAF from the east coast. but i usually dont have direct routes, rather sticking to the coast and then taking a certain road inland and following it (sticking to a nearby treeline of course) I think once the map is more fleshed out, particularly with adding unique landmarks and buildings (as in something not copy pasted around the map, but unique to that area/town) I already like how they made the landscape leveling not so boring, with little hills and canyon-esque areas replacing flat land (best example i can think of is between elektro and cherno, the train track in front of the mountain passes through an area raised at each side, creating a small canyon)

i believe he did say that people would be able to make their own dayz SA mods in the future, but its a long time away

I found an awesome dayz server! - Cosmic Bunny Gaming.. -Check it out
monolith1985 replied to Georgey's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
hmm, your first post, and its about a server you "found", yet you seem to know alot (everything) about it and presented in a way that essentially advertises the server....and to quote the last paragraph "...and I hope you hop along with us" - us? if you want to "sell" your server, do it abit more honestly, and people would prefer to join a server from an active community member rather than someone who is too ashamed to use his own account to post. I wouldnt be surprised if you are the "great scripter/modder" you speak of -
i find on my low end system standalone actually runs slightly better than the mod
-
lol true, but theres still aim and ballistics to consider, rather than putting a bomb by a door and waiting til the person walks through the door to nail them, ensuring guaranteed kills I would like to see some place-able explosives though, such as timed detonations, in the mod id place a satchel nearby when im pinned down, and keep adding time to it, so if i died, my killers would possibly get killed when looting my body maybe when they centralize loot, it could be a thing, but maybe remote detonators could be extremely rare
-
think remote explosions caused a lot of griefing on the mod, as deathmatchers could sit and wait and click one button to kill someone
-
a pitol that shoots moisin rounds? wow thats powerful
-
sounds like a great update, cant wait to check it out
-
have to say im not big on storage disappearing, as long as storage is balanced it should be ok. such as backpack storage, you can store some food meds and even a sidearm, but you cant store a rifle in it
-
im pretty sure i read...somewhere, maybe the devtracker, that 100 didnt run well (i tried and it was great) but they think they can go 60-80 some point soon I think 100 would be fine, if they spread out the spawns abit more
-
lol that would be awesome, I think given alot of the features and more development time could make it a better engine/game than arma 3
-
yeah the intel GMA is worse than their standard HD graphics chips speaking of which, im getting a pc next month, but im on a tight budget, so rather than get a pentium and a gtx graphics card, i have opted for the i5 4440 processor with HD graphics chip, totalling the same price, and then i can get a good graphics card in a month or 2. now i know the integrated graphics will be bad, but how bad can expect? average fps on low-medium settings?
-
i think the modding potential for standalone will be great, not just for dayz mods but other mods too

lower FPS than normal - community troubleshooting?
monolith1985 posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
dayz mod: So ive noticed a few people posting around the place about getting low fps on the mod, while this is common im seeing a trend in people like myself that used to get better frames, but somehow don't now, so hopefully this can bring the posts together and people can share troubleshooting steps, possible causes and maybe a solution so for me ive tried: running different mods, aswell as different servers, as well as vanilla changing graphics settings from high to very low, and up to very high, FPS barely changed a single number with these variations. defragging the arma folder. check the computer isnt running anything it shouldnt (resource heavy programs, ran virus and spyware checks) and probably more i forgot, so what has everyone else tried? also, ive been playing 2 years, and have installed and removed many dayz mods, aswell as a couple of life mods. anyone else had a lot of mods installed? another thing i noticed last night is i was with a group of about 8 people, and that seemed to cut the frames down in half (10ish to dropping as low as 4) so anyone having similar problems, reply with something similar, what youve tried, anything in particular you noticed... -
lower FPS than normal - community troubleshooting?
monolith1985 replied to monolith1985's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
thanks max for moving this to the right place for my graphics settings, as mentioned above, i could max it out, or turn it to very low with all the extras turned off, and it wouldnt make a difference, maybe a single frame at best il try the monitor resolution, one thing i did notice is that the 3d and interface resolution keeps resetting, to a different resolution, and 1 at 100% (which is differnt from the monitor resolution) and one at 88%, also my anti aliasing keeps going back on i did edit my cfg a long time ago, and made it read only, since then ive took off the read only mode so i can change it, yet it still resets... and my view distance has always been the same, used to manage well on 3000, now have it at 1500
