1 thing id change is that while food and drink are fine, i wouldnt necessarily keep blood bags, morphine or bandages in my backpack, as they are much more useful being in my personal inventory

on the first night me and my friend started playing, we spent an hour trying to meet up, then went to cherno, we had planned on being friendly survivors, we found the medical tents, thought we hit the jackpot in loot. then someone came and shot us both for no reason. so when we both spawned in elektro, we decided not to take chances, we made it to the fire station, and spotted 3 people at the grocery store, one looking our direction, I shot the guy looking with my lee enfield, then his friends as they tried to retaliate, killed all 3 just out of sheer paranoia for my safety, and got turned into a bandit. Was the most excitement in a game i played in a long time, and have been hooked since then. I still try to be friendly, but usually leads to my death

2 big updates in like a week, things look promising hope we get to see a video of all of the added in stuff and placeholder placeholders

i considered joining a pve server, but reckon id get bored quickly as in dayz you need that danger of other people, just not to the extent that the mod has come to now

looking really good, and loved the discretion warning lol except for floating loot (barely floating compared to some ive seen in the mod) i cant really see any bugs, hope it comes out before xmas at least

i think given how flexible arma 2's engine is, from creating dayz, to the dayz mods, and even city life, im sure SA will be prepared to add or remove features once they get feedback from players. on the other hand, i worry post-alpha development will take so long that people may have moved on by the time the game becomes a finished product one thing im worried about is the radio station feature, I can imagine alot of trolling, like walking into a town or city and theres 5 different radios spread out playing 5 different songs, that would get annoying

when i first started, i finally found a tent after searching for days, and decided i wanted it close to elektro, as i spent most of my time there, so decided on a hill on the edge of elektro would be great, as i dont know the map yet. after a few days things were fine, never got robbed, and filled it with gear, then 1 night when on youtube, i heard it referred to as sniper hill. and found i put my tent right in the middle of it, days later it still hadnt been found, but had run into snipers a few time, so decided to move on, but whatever way i placed the tent in the bush no one ever found it now, i usually setup in solnichniy quarry, as zombies dont seem to have pathing to the very back of the quarry, and therefore essentially makes it a zombie god spot :D

i think its possible, the new features they are adding should help with kos. but it depends how it works. for example in the standalone the new item damage feature is explained that if you shoot someone in the chest, you can damage/break the items in their jacket....but whats to stop a person shooting someone in the head and then taking all their stuff? or robbing them of their stuff, and then killing them anyway. i hope that when most people kill, there will be a good reason, such as stealing supplies, or because they pose a threat to you, your camp, or your friends. and not "just because.."

will check this out next time im on, some really good features, and have been looking for a shared hive to try out different maps without starting over :D p.s - its wrecks, not wreaks :)

not sure why people are complaining about the lack of outfits in residential, regular people don't generally keep ghillies in their house

lol single player dayz wouldnt be very fun on one hand i like mods that add new features, from self bloodbagging for when im playing alone, to interesting things like epochs base building system on the other hand, alot of mods ruin the core experience, from bathtub vehicles in origins to "most weapons ever" mods like breaking point so if BI ever do want to bring in modding, i hope its only open to a handful of select people/groups, who can do great work with the game, and with the engine. Lets not forget that currently the dayz mod is run by a modding team, not BI, and they have improved dayz alot since rocket stopped working on it

i had this problem when trying to update to 1.8 the other day, i just hit "reload versions" and tried again and it worked im sure its not that simple for everyone, but worth a go edit - also, i was trying to update epoch and 1.8 at the same time, and it happened, in your screenshot, you are already downloading epoch, so maybe wait til it finishes and then try dayzero

played my first 1.8 game today briefly instantly checked out the gear system when i got in to a game, was instantly confused lol. but once i found some gear and started playing around with it, it seems pretty straightforward, the same as the last one, but nicer to look at i like the addition of hot swapping, but seemed pretty slow for me, but also glad about switching to melee there seemed to be alot of food around, and also in some buildings there was loot everywhere, and some complete empty also zeds barely even noticed me most of the time, even when sprinting overall seems good, cant wait to check it out more

id say your basic point is good, but when it comes to kings and stuff it gets out of hand. besides in groups 1 or 2 members usually end up becoming the alpha or would-be leader anyway but in terms of groups, people should, and already do, form groups together to survive, but in the mod for most people it is just joining together to go kill other people. with the standalone's complex medical system, loads of different items, but limited space to hold it all, and the tougher nature of zombies will encourage people to team up in order to survive, or even form groups to assert their dominance of the rest of the people they encounter. thats what makes dayz awesome in my opinion, it shows what people will do in order to survive, and everybody has their own methods

kinda wished this came out abit earlier than a day before grand theft auto, probably wont be on to test much, but i will monday night if i can also, as well as jobs and families im sure the devs like to actully just spend time actully playing dayz when they arnt working on it :)

probably an unpopular vote on here, but frankieonpc and jack frags make good videos also psisyndicate reviews just about every dayz mod there is, so if you wanted a better idea of what mods/maps to play that would be a good place to start I also liked seannaners' videos, only did one series, but was entertaining due to the fact him and his group were kinda terrible at the game lol

i get between 10 and 20 fps :( side note: anyone know any good ways to boost fps? i would google such a thing but i hear it leads to scam programs that steal your cd key. was thinking of using razer game booster

another thing to check, is your windows audio settings, sometimes it sets the mic to an audio device that isnt your mic. for example mine would set to the audio manager that installed with my audio drivers, then when i changed it to my headset as default, it worked (after relaunching the game, if it is already open) hope this helps

yeah holstering your pistol works really well in city life, i dont see why it wasnt brought into dayz ages ago. the animation isnt the quickest, but id prefer it over bumping into a stranger and either - A: trying to move behind cover to ask if he's friendly (thus lowering my guard) which usually means i get shot, or B: shooting him straight away, just because he pointed his gun at me, when chances are he was just looking at me, but sometimes, you cant take the risk. it would make dayz a more friendly environment and bring back the old trust vs survival gameplay, instead of the giant deathmatch it is now
