  1. What is the obsession with the "zombie" bit about? It is a survival game in a zombie apocalypse...the zombies are just one of the threats: the other threats are the environment itself and primarily other players, who (unlike the zombies) actually react intelligently. Please, stop obsessing on the "zombie" bit of it. For my money (and I am not a big PvP'er before you ask...I have killed a grand total of six people since joining the world of DayZ) it is the existence of the player threat that makes DayZ what it is. I will tell you right now that without the possibility of players killing me, I would not spend every moment in DayZ paranoid as hell about being killed...it would simply be long boring runs, followed by a little sneaking as you approach a building. Actually, remove the player threat and zombies will cease to be a real challenge. Zombies are a problem precisely because of the threat of other players: it is not fear of zombies that stops me from shooting...it is fear of other players hearing me :)
  2. I see little benefit at all to global chat in DZ. Half the time it is impossible to know who people are actually talking to (as in someone asks "you friendly?"...well, who the hell are they talking to? Where are they? Are they talking to me, or on the other side of the map?). The other half of the time...well, honestly anyone who goes on global chat and starts advertising their position is practically begging for the death which usually finds them not long afterwards.
  3. No. Honestly I would prefer limited ammo...a 2 clip maximum. Just a suggestion, but a better option may be zero bandages at the start.

IF this was an actual game...

A one time, up-front payment would be my choice: I am not a fan of subscription's.

My Rant: Why I am Done with the Game.

As far as I am concerned, this is a very accurate description of survival in an apocalyptic scenario, and people acting that way enhance the game I am playing even though I am playing it in a completely different way...they make the world into somewhere that is truly frightening...somewhere you never feel safe. THAT IS HOW A SURVIVAL HORROR SHOULD MAKE YOU FEEL! If you want a survival horror in which you do not have to fight tooth and nail for your survival, then you do not want to play a survival horror.

When do you decide Friendly or Bandit?

I wish we could get rid of the ridiculous black & white tags: Friendly, Bandit...what the hell do they mean...it is as though everyone fits one or the other. Maybe that is the problem though: for too long people have been spoon fed games which encourage the notion that there is "good" and "bad". DayZ mirrors the real world a little bit better than that: sure, there will be some people who are flat out evil, but there will be very few people that are flat out saints: the fact is everyone in DayZ will at one time or another kill someone who probably did not particularly deserve to die. I do not automatically assume when I get killed that it was a "bandit". I have killed six people in total since starting on DayZ around 3 or 4 weeks ago. Of those six, only one was a flat out, considered murder...I saw the guy from a distance and just decided I was going to try and kill him. Of the rest, all happened quickly and were largely the results of my reaction to people who appeared at close range with no warning...a bad case of wrong place and wrong time. Everyone has moments like that and everyone in the game will at one time or another simply watched as someone passed them by, and more often than not the other party was never even aware they were being watched. Lets get rid of "bandit" and "Friendly" and accept it as it is...black, white and one hell of a lot of grey.
