  1. Yeah I said that: You said that: And so it went on. You are clearly getting pissed and may think to drive me away, but I know who's looking silly and that's not me. Btw, you are getting your own server, isn't that great?
  2. Please stop posting every assumption you just had out of the blue for the sake of making me look silly. Thanks. There is a solution: separated server, separated hives.
  3. You both are comedy gold. Well, do hide or cancel out what you want, it's your poll after all.
  4. So because of your opinion, you decided to cheat a bit the poll?
  5. Why having separated server and hives is not an option?

    Clumsy character movement.

Nope, the 1st person view is clumsy. I use to be in 3rd person especially in buildings. Swiching the view is numpad enter.

Now it makes more sense to me, overread the poll part, thanks. Anyway, I doubt that polls do much. Most people don't care that matter or are just happy with what they have, so they probably don't read many fixing/problem topics. Edit From experience I know that you won't get much feedback from folks which is satisfied at all. So if you release something the complainers outweight the pleased by multiples. So that means if you get almost no feedback then there are no serious issues. There of cause can be folks which is surprised by something is working really well, they actually go through the hassle to join a forums and read and thank you etc, but that's a way smaller group of people than the upset ones. The pleased folks tends to be a silent majority. So no, polls on forums are not that trustable. It just covers a certain crowd.

Your mantra makes no sence to me. You really never will use 3rd person? Really? Have you been rised in the believe that 3rd person is evil or something? Well anyway, I don't care if you use it or not. You are free to hit numpad enter whenever you will or not. I have no interest in forcing, fixing or converting you into 3rd person. So yeah, everyone is free to enjoy his game. Limit yourself as you wish.

The more I'm thinking about, the more I'm certain that this whole drama only can be fixed by either feign full 1st person server to pvp player in the server browser or by removing the player numbers entirely. That's how it all went wrong. That's how the empty 1st person server happened to be. It's a chain reaction. No pvp player want's to play on an empty server, so they have their issues with populating them.

You are missing the point of that story. I know that it wasnt directly related to the topic. Thanks btw Do you have something with politicans? Is that ought to be a namecalling or something? It's the second time you are going strange about me being a politican. Who knows? Who cares? 3rd person is balanced btw as soon as you play on first person servers. It's not that difficult. See, this are two different play stiles and rule sets. There are other games with different rule sets as well. E.g. one may play billard with this rules, another one with that. Problem rises if two player have no consens about the rules. ==> They either need to adopt the rules, inventing new, or playing the game separated with their own rules sets. If you first person player would stay on your playfields, everything would be fine. This is just common practice. So please, do yourself a favour and stand to your own rule sets and playfields. If you come to an 3rd person server, you have to adopt the rules on that server. - The rules are not adopting to you. As said, common practice. Everyone would call a soccer player an idiot who strayed somehow to a football game and then tries to force everyone under the soccer rules.

Yep, I know that this is another story. I also know that this topic is not removing the 3rd person, but breaking it, you call it fixing. At least you guys don't retain from the idea to play with/against 3rd person player, however you want their playstile/feature to be changed in a way which renders it useless. And allow me to add, even though, this is pointed to tommes, who seems not to understand, that inplopping objects are ugly and not desired, that solution with the 4th wall are not everyones tastes. In my opinion inplopping objects are desturbing my 3rd person immersion too much to enjoy the idea. How about inplopping opjects for you 1st person guys. I'm certain you'll love that "fix".

I tried yesterday to explain a mate that some have an agenda to remove the 3rd person from DayZ. He made a face if I would have said: They now are trying to play bowling without bowling ball. He litterally said? "Whaaa?? What kind of...." don't want to finish the setence here. ^^ But besides of that, greetings. I'm sure she also has something intelligent to say that you could share.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

Would be cool if sth new would be invented, but besides of 1st person or 3rd, there is no other solution. All what's discussed here from the 1st person advocates was to break or limiting the 3rd person. Yeah, limits also can be interristing to some people. A game wont be able to exceed reality in regards of freedom. In a ches game a pawn only can move forward. That's a limited ability based on a given rule set. That's what 1st person advocates are doing: trying to force everyone into their limited rule set. Hence they make loads of arguments why 3rd person would be broken, wrong or whatever. That's not the case, 3rd person just doesn't fit into their desired rule set. That's all. And keeping this in mind, this discussion is in its core about tastes and argueing tastes indeed is pointless and leads to grinding each other. You can deny it as you wish, but that's how it all boils down. This has nothing to do with the "bad people", it's the topic itself.

Nope, the majority just plays the game and enjoys it in 1st and 3rd person.

Depends, they not only have to shoot, they also do recon. Sure there are enough zeds. has nothing to do with it. I meant in your journal, the zed count. Because you assumed I would avoid zeds. Have you ever lived long enough to tell how accurate the zed count is? to the edit: see above

-hence the cover -depends on circumstances, there is no artillery in chernarus -yeah, movements are bad, everywhere. known fact, but that'ts why snyper don't move that often I'm no sniper, nor did I ever sit on a roof to snipe in the game Well, interesting how you think I would play. ^^ What do you think how correct is the "dead zed count" in the mod?
  17. Not sure if this is a placeholder, but please add better ground textures, since they are strikingly different from the rest of the game.

Also each house types exactly looks the same. How many different house types with acessible roofs exist in chernarus? Don't you see the problem? You know that there's no chimney on house type 2, fine. Nothing like this will happen in real life. If someone masks himself as being a chimney - it's just an example how real life snipers use to cover themselfes in a city - you wont ever recognise it in a city like Praque. Or do you want to tell me that you know every chimney on every roof in Praque? See how pointless your argumentation is? You are trying to crawl into the limitations of a game as being a save heaven.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

Asymetric pvp, that's what the reality of war today is. But to help you on the way: It's a game. As it is a game, you have limited abilities to interact with your environment. And because you are limited in enteracting with the environment, you cant really cover yourself. No, there is no way to mask your self as being a chimney. That's what I mean wit: This game gives you a limited experience and it's not even close to reality. So you have to do some compromises, call it metaphor if you want, to counter that horrible amputation a game does by nature. I fail to see how someone can't understand that. It's reasonable, it's plain clear language I hope. Your problem seems to be that you are thinking in the limiting limits of the game? "How's that someone can cover?" you ask. Well, plenty abilities, just not available ingame. Two sides, everyone who spots another one can be spottet within the same rule set. There's nothing unfair, theres's no exploit, same rules aplly to all. We just have another additional vector. In fact making pvp more complex. That's why I suggested to have seperated hives several times. Balance problem is fixed, since we now have two seperated rule sets - simply devided by a server setting "1st person fixed" and another hive. That's not a too complicated thing. Works and already can be implemented by ease.

Oh, thank you, but no, you are trying to break it. It's just realistic. It's called cover, not magic. Cover is not bad pvp, it's part of a more difficult pvp. Snipers hiding on the roof... who ever heard about that. :o Hope youu get the sarcasm. There already are buttons, just hit the right one. It's a list, highlight 1st person server, press "join". Yes of cause, everything Because it's not broken. 3rd person is not resposible that 1st person lover cant hit the right buttons in the server browser. Maybe aiming is wrong? Sure

Well the reason why I didn't went into your pointless arguments like "Get a friend to do survival stuff with you, watch him?" is, that I already have friends I could watch. I can repeat it again, if you isnist in, but the point of the 3rd person view is to see your own character. I made that important part bold and underlined. The other points has been addressed a dozen times as well. Should I repeat all or are you interested in certain points. Your's have been disassembled various times and we got to the conclusion that it is just a matter of taste. The only relevant points remaining are: 1. matter of tastes (enjoyment) 2. that combat thing, what you 1st person advocates are most concerned about -> relevant for you, because of point 1. 3. that 1st person advocates somehow constantly join the wrong server, therefore not getting 1st person server full. And full server is what they want. (That's why they join the wrong server in the very first place.)

Does it improve your framerates if you switch from 3rd person to 1st? Not much, I guess. On modern graphic carts one reasonable optimized model more or less doesn't impact that much. Also, unlike games like Skyrim or the modern Fallout games, the 1st person view has a body model in DayZ as well. But Zombie Jesus is right, I also have the impression, you are slightly distracting the discussion, by picking certain side points like enjoyment or whatever. We made other way more relevant points, which ... get ignored.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

Yeah, we also enjoy horror games or films. It's entertaining. No reason to rant against enjoyment. And tommes said something like "enjoyment is for the weak" between the lines. Well yeah, he clearly is mistaking something. (not the thirst time btw)
  24. Ken Bean

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

I think you are mistaking something. Games are meant to be played for enjoyment - or it's not a game. To understand this, one has to know what a game and enjoyment defines. Repetetive actions against your enjoyment are not exactly a game. (And if you are sm, the enjoyment may come from pain, but it's still enjoyment.) At least I appreciate your straight answer on that. You are denying the core problem: ->You play on the wrong server ->Map is too big for pvp focused folks ->Smaller maps like in battlefield or counter strike give a more intense pvp experience, this has nothing to do with 1st person or 3rd person ->Who is easier to be changed? You or millions of other player? Oh, and I don't have another account. Cheap try.
