  1. American school bus crash. --> highest weapon spawn chance possible ;) But seriously, I'd like to see more variety in this regards. The heli crash sites should stay though.
  2. In my opinion this KoS mentality established a common fear among the player base that most of them don't even try to play together. This just leads to a *hide or shoot* szenario, a PvP game after all. This I can have in Battlefield as well, even better and more entertaining.
  3. Actually you can change peoples mentality. As long they are able to comprehend, they usually are able to make some reasoning. This btw is the main difference between survivors and zombies. The former have brains, the latter eat them. Since the game is ought to be a survival game and no death match, it should force the players to use their brains, to think twice before doing shit. Yes, somehow you deny your ability to think, and sometimes it even looks like you proofed the point, but believe me, it's there and if not used, it should make the difference. :-)
  4. First I thought I made a joke, but now I realize that the realism / immersion argument just beats everything else anyway. So... I win, you lose. Fun must be patched out. I feel sorry for ya. Nah, I really have a lot of fun playing DayZ, eben without KoS and stuff. But if I need a kick, I may try some player interaction, sneak into a town or visit the NE Airfield. More crafting would be nice though.

    DayZ 1.8 Update

That's what most of us are doing. Frankly, I don't really care. I'm playing how I think it's best for me. So does you and so does he. I'm also not very interested to play on a 60 slot PvP server. This just is not the point of the game for me. And allow me to add: You pvp dudes are neither the hub of the universe, nor the only wise folks who know the correct way to play.

    DayZ 1.8 Update

Since you claimed it, it would be your job to link a video. ;) If you thought it would be the job of your opponents to prove your theory, you are wrong. It's always the one who made up a theory who needs to backup his claimes. Otherwise there's no need to take someone serious, btw. If there are lots of youtube videos proving your experience, fine, it should be easy for you to link 2 or 3. Well, at least, despite of your doubts, his tactics seemed to work. Anyway, there are lots of possible playstiles. The sneaky way, the rush or a mixture of both. Rushing through a town now is a bit more difficult than before since you'll aggro more Zeds. On the other hand, the sneaky and slow playstile always has been complicated a lot by PvP folks. Glad, to see them complain most.

    DayZ 1.8 Update

The only thing I've seen myself is that Zeds walked through a wall of a barn. Didn't got hit from the distance or through walls yet though.

    DayZ 1.8 Update

That they are so rare or that I couldn't gut them? Or both? :-D One thing I forgott, the blury vision didn't disappear while regaining blood. Only getting hit by a Zed or rejoining the server removed the blur effect. Edit What are these hoses used for? Self blood baging? =)

    DayZ 1.8 Update

Zeds really do some heavy damage, so raids of towns or airfield really is dangerous. Sure, there is some canned food more, but you apparently reduced the wild animal spaws quite a lot. Especialy as I was low on blood and didn't see or find anything, it took ages for me to regain my blood. One rabbit I found I wasn't able to gut, didn't got the option to gut the animal. So I regained by fishing a lot. Then I just got hit once or twice, and maybe the 3/4 was gone again. I played maybe 8 hours without dying, but being most of the time very low on blood. Run across the whole map and those death messages were popping up like heck. Also as I started in electro, there lay bodies around everywhere. So I would say it's pretty well balanced. Zed are very tough though. Sometimes they seems to see through walls, but not sure if they just didn't heard me. Running upright will aggro Zeds a lot, also shooting in towns, making noises etc. Groutching does work to the point that you can get a little closer to them, but you'll be seen pretty sure. Going prone is the savest way to move around Zeds, you'll get close to maybe 10 - 20 metres or sth without aggroing them.

    DayZ 1.8 Update

Awesome update so far. The infection rate has been reduced greately, the loot has been increased, nice new loot spawn locations... And I love the new inventory. After all, it is a bit easier than 1.7.7.1 I have the feeling. But great work anyway.
  11. You call this reasoning? Do you even read what you write? I'd call it trash talk. But trust me, all these awesome fancy 1st person server are empty. Becaus you guys somehow allnthe time are hanging around 3rd person server. Its litteraly weird.
  12. There are no others bacause all of you hang around 3rd person server.
  13. Yep, one of these. I played on 2 of them myself lately. Most of the time I was a bit alone. And yes, reading this forums, being told that you 1st person lover are in the majority, is a bit weird Cant help but wonder why you guys are hanging around 3rd person server and complaining about it the same time. Maybe if you get 1 or 2 server full, I'd say there are too few. But as it looks now, even thouh there are only half a dozen 1st person server, there are still too many. Oh and btw, I always have bad ping too, I take it as additional challenge. Only an idiot would run around on a server with 60 player throuh an pvp area and expects not to get sniped. Edit Just took a closer look to your screenshot (Im on my phone currently) and nope, not one of these. How about learning to properly sort the server list using those awesome filter?
  14. Quit whining, play on 1st person server.
  15. These polls say 60%. The problem is - if you belive them - more than the half of all players are playing against their "stated" preference. Know what I think? 99% of the player play on 3rd person server because they like 3rd person enabled server better. But some of the forum folks believe they would be more "hardcore" if they would play on 1st person server (which they like less). But for the sake of being *superduperhardcore* they vote agains their preference. It's a often seen story that some kids try to play the hard dude, they imagine they would like to be, if they were Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the parallel universe.
  16. Which is not true, btw. In 3rd person you usually take way more risks than in 1st. Zeds are as aggro as they are in 1st person. You littteraly take more risks in 3rd p if you run through a town.
  17. Well nice, then explain it to me why those 60 percent play on 3rd person enabled server, if they like 1st person only better. Makes absolutely no sense, logicaly. Tis looks kind of very foolish to me, cant help but wonder. :-/ Well, you could argue there always is some misguided folks who just is fundamentaly confused and never gets the right direction...
  18. In my opinion DayZ is not a first person shooter, therefore we could remove the first person view entirely without losing its essence, being a survival game. In this case we'd need another fight sytem / interface. Well, iron sights and scopes are nice, so we could keep them. At the end there could be 1st person only if you have a weapon and hit the right mouse button or using your binoculars. I wouldn't miss much, to be honest. Well, atm we have both. I'm fine with. Just doont understand why the 1st person lover (up to 60 percent if you believe some of these polls) don't play on 1st person servers. If someone favours choclet ice, he can get it. No one forces him to eat strawberry.
  19. Because having a game mechanics which lets the player do things, which are not realistic, is not always an exploit. Using your spiderman senses also is not an exploit if you play a spiderman game. It even isn't an unfair game mechanics, since everyone could make use of it. Now I see, there are some camper excessively making use of it. If they don't have the 3rd person view, they'd just sit in a pine tree. And then? Exploit? I think we should face it: Annoying camper are annoying because they camp, not because of the 3rd person.
  20. No idea what you just said. Real man don't dance? I'd say: Real man can play in first and in third person. Now what's with your theory? Do you feel like being dirted by us or do you want to compromise us?
  21. Since they add a lot of gameplay depth and take some shooter motivation out, I'm quite optimistic that it's going to be a very good survial game. Maybe we'll see how popular the survival-simulation genre really is. The mod DayZ is in my feel quite a bit misunderstood as being a shooter, by a lot of folks. I'd like to see some skill/charakter system in regards of non-combat skills, like repairing, driving, gutting animals (maybe different efficiency or shorter times in performing certain actions). I'd also imagine that needing 6 classes instead of 8 while repairing a heli can be justified by having more practice in technics or being more efficient in using rare ressources.
  22. Absolutely perfectly. If I'm in the 3rd person I see my char and I also identify myself with him. So the dude in game is actually me, no problem there.
  23. Okay, thanks. However learning medicin would indeed be a bit of a skill system. There are btw several "level" systems. Assigning points to a skill system is just one of them. There also are a lot of rpgs which advance their skills just by doing. E.g. jumping 500 timees makes you stronger, opening 20 locked doors increases your dexterity etc. Jagged Alliance 2 has one of the most awesome level systems out there. For example you can do lots of things to open a door. Possibilities go from kicking it in, over lockpicking, to shooting it open, to using explosives or crowbars etc. And every action counts as practicing a certain skill. Even being overcumbered and walking long distances ingcreases your strength. One of the most immersive games btw Yes, it starts a bit like a laptop job. ^^ JA2 may look a bit unfamiliar at start, but it's going to get very awesome the longer you play. Especially the base game. One thing you can not see it in this videos is that it gives you loads of realistic options. Has a lot of game depth in nearly every aspect. One of the deepest and difficultiest (depending on the settings) games ever made. Also a very awesome game:
  24. I'm less voyeuristic, but seeing my character doing survival stuff would be awesome. To get into the survival mood, I'd consider that more important than shooting other player or watching them.
