Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

First and foremost, that's missing the point. 3rd person is used for seeing your own character from different angles and the solution you posted just totally ignores that. Second, see how close one has to be to a wall in order to peek around? You really are conserned because someone can look behind a wall he's directly standing at(The wider you are away from a wall or corner, the smaller is the effect)? In my opinion, this is nonsense. There's no reason why one shouldn't be able to peek around a corner/wall, he's standing at. This is a non issue. If you got cought that way, learn how to savely watch your environment/back and don't feel save behind walls if you don't know whats on the other side. At least try to keep an eye on it. If a player came so close, then you did something wrong. Third, if someone is peeking around a wall he directly stands at while the spotted person is far away, then yes, the person that has been spotted won't recognise it, just like in real life. Do you guys really think that in reality, you would see every person who is watching you? You would be surprised.

Just proofes that standing freely around might be deadly. Easy prey, they were. If you ask me, this also could have been a sniper. 3rd person is not an excuse for exposing yourself in a dump way. The fail was on them. ==> Shooting around, attracing attention, standing around without cover, not watching the environment. ==> This is just as pointless as the other complains about 3rd person.

Those polls are useless. Only thing that counts is what server folks joins most.

Fix (not remove) Third Person Perspective

There's no way to fix sences that can't be transported within a game. The 3rd person is there to compensate the excessive (and also annoying) flaws of the 1st person. The game simply put is not an natural environment. Your character ingame is not a natural person. It has some very serious deficits, leading to a very simplified game-world-experience. Fixing it to first person just simplifies way more. You guys seems to be on war with the complexity of an natural environment. One thing I may add: There was a video where some guys stood behind a wall and another guy in 3rd person saw them, thowing a granade over the wall. Well, that's not soo unrealistic as you may think. Granades use to fly in curves for a very long time and the only reason, wars don't end that soon is, everyone knows that. So military guys use to watch their environment, actually not having an unwatched wall to the enemy where everyone could throw granades over. Some may call it "front line" -> This is a line that is ought to be difficult to pass across. Most of the time this area even is wider than a granade can be thrown.

Well it has been said a thousand times and it pretty much self explanatory that an average human beingcan see better than a 27" monitor. Plus one can smell pretty good, feeling preasure differences, things what all these tiny cells feel, ya know? I also actually can hear my souroundings better than seeing it. I know whats going on on the other side of a wall without doing magic. Okay, you of cause can call it magic but my super awesome sences tell me, that right at the moment there's someone washing the dishes 2 rooms away. Crazy, isn't it? I don't see shit through 2 walls, but actually can't sleep because of it. Even if I close my eyes. Please, really, such topics has been made endlessly here and it's always the same nonsense. Just get your head free from your fixed ideas and see how amputated an ingame character is compared to real life. Well okay, sometimes it's funny. (When they fall from roofs because they were looking through threir scope, not recognising that most of their body was flying in the air.) Sure, you guys also can continue to play Kelly Bundy but everyone with the right mind just "sees" that taking away from something limited just goes into the wrong direction.

Not really. It kind of breaks the 3rd person since it couldn't correct the flaws of the 1st person any longer, in regards of the extremely cut-off senses the 1st person has. A game has not the abilities to deliver a true realistic experience since you only have to rely on 2 senses out of five. Sound is a big issue and it doesn't come close to relism. Same goes for visuals. Also the whole feel of your position in the world, your body, everything is cut-off and there's no better way to substitude the loss than having 3rd person. The attempts of the third wall arte nice, competitionwhise, but it's a drawback in regards of a realistic experience. For me it is a good example for trying to fix what is not broken - just for the sake of focusing some pvp gaming.

Nope, its not. Exploit would mean one would abuse a coding bug in an unintended way. 3rd person is not a bug and as it is, it is coded like it was ought to be. Just like "Hey I code a in a function." --> Function works. ==> 3rd person is just a very well working game feature. You may think it is an exploit because you can't comprehend the nature of the 3rd person. Yes, 3rd person might be unrealistic but not as unralistic like the 1st person view is - with all it extremely unrealistic limited senses of yourself and your souroundings. Tried to make some simple sentences. Hope it worked out well. So, and what you think what might be the most realistic realism....? Not having 3rd person? Something like this you guys are repeating the whole day. Nope, you are wrong. 1st person view is not realistic. And even if it would be, I couldn't care less, since as said, I want to see my character doing survival stuff. The game looks beautiful in 3rd person and I can see my fancy pants ingame. 1st person can't compete with it in all it's fancy awesomeness.

The 3rd person view is not an exploit and therefore it doesn't need to be fixed. Simple put: It's plain awesome. Way more than 1st p view. Also you don't decide what is "bad gameplay".

How about a change in Day/nigth cycle ?

This is way too bright. You can forget such nights as soon you found an NVG, which would become useless. It's almost day. It takes all the fun out of nights. Really, just chose a dayserver if you don't like it dark. They already messed up nights at the mod as they locked full moon nights. It was perfect with the dynamic night and moon cycles, resulting in brighter and way darker nights. Even chemlights and flares become useless in such bright nights. -.- If you are out there in the forest, without any light source (light pollution) and with covered sky, nights should be pitchblack, as in real life under this circumstances. Also, don't get why folks want the time to speed up. What do you want to achieve in 2h nights? This will folks just make quit more often, because their favourite daytime, it also is tactical moment with a different gameplay, all the way changes too early. And every time the sun goes down and up, I'm reminded that it is a game. Don't want it. As said, add flares, chemlights and most important the server time in the server browser, which makes it less russian roulette, what server you jojn.

How about a change in Day/nigth cycle ?

Flares and chemlights are not implemented yet, which would make nights more enjoyable. And we need the server time to be shown in the server browser.

How about a change in Day/nigth cycle ?

You can experience the whole cycle, just noth within 4 hours. And yep, I love to log on to the same time each day. I also stand up in real life almost the same time each day. So it makes sense a lot and I like it.

How about a change in Day/nigth cycle ?

Yes, of cause some game elements are speeded up since most things would get very time consuming and tiresome such as reality sometimes happen to be. Remember, there's something like a real life as well. Playing a game that simulates real life in real time would just take most of your time. But the main element of a simulation is time. Everyone has a rhythm. Get up early, get up late, are you active at night...? I'm perfectly fine with chosing a server which fits my rhythm. Lets say in an apocalypse you would be active at night, to avoid certain situations, then choose a server where it is 22 o'clock or something and you perfectly can play a night owl. If you are a morning person, find a server where it is morning. No survivor would be active at every daytime. One has to sleep and rest as well. So that speeded up time in my eyes just destroys the whole simulation approach and takes your ingame character out of the game world context.

Good points. The gameworld indeed is a bit too to huge to make those tactical pretty-pretty stuff what 1st person brings along at every corner or tree. And as others already said, if I find one of that awesome items they made, I want to see how it looks in the game.
  14. Hmm, could it be be that you just tried to associate with slavery what we associate with freedom? Already had the impression that you just don't want to hear what folks is trying to say. 3rd person is wanted and needed and all persistance in the oposite wont change that.

Battleye... I'm thinking it's not good

BE did a good job on the mod lately. Haven't been killed due to a cheat for more than 200 days.
  16. Just for the sake of being unpleasant? Nope, 1st person belongs to the game as exactly as the 3rd person does.
  17. Just played myself for maybe 3 hours and seriously, removing the third person view is absolutely out of question at present. The controls and moving is so clunky, laggy and chewy - worse than in the mod - I can't believe that's even a debate. Sure it has to stay in. Rubber banding, warping forth and back, through walls... you are so often disoriented due to that, happens you are running completely into the opposite direction without noticing. While in 3rd person I at least have an idea what happens. Because I saw that I just somehow warped downstairs, backwards trough the kitchen, through the wall and back, ending up somewhere in the neighbours house. Yep, it's alpher, one day it will be a smoothe and fluent gameplay experience, but this still will take a serious share of time. Until then, for me removing 3rd person is not even close to be considered.

map in 4 pieces is nonsense thing

Nope, never going to do this anymore. The faster you get a pro, the sooner you'll miss that feeling as you were a rookie in that game.

Please for the love of god don't add "Sanity."

If you played several days in a team without killing surviver, you actually could get a hero pretty fast, just by taking care and having medical supplies. This happened to me most of the time on private hives though, didn't find sth like this on a public hub.

Please for the love of god don't add "Sanity."

Yep, some bandits used to buff each other with humanity. Those twisted souls...
  21. Ken Bean

Please for the love of god don't add "Sanity."

I think there are two approaches on that. One sees it as additional gameplay element, like an extended health system, others may see it as punishment. I'd love to see it as part of being an expanded health system, so someone innocent or guilty could be traumatised by witnessing cruel sceneries.
  22. There indeed are other games. If DayZ loses it's flavour, then.. People are only playing what they want to.

Please for the love of god don't add "Sanity."

@op Admit, you just needed a reason to post your photo. :P
  24. Yep, but one still should hear them though. QFT (sad thing is you can say that a billion times and one...)
  25. So instead of fixing it, you are removing it? That's for sure the best way to handle things. Hope your doc doesn't think the same. Edit: Also what Karmaterror said. Anyway, there are populated 1st person server out there. The Oculus Rift will at least fix the limitations of my monitor. It's just weird and brocken that you stay in the middle of an open field and can't see shit. Really. This always breaks it, I'd go mad with that 1st person view only. And frankly, how are you not recogniseing it? Hey, totaly immersion, lets look through that shoe carton.
