Some interesting statistics by google trends (google.com used): Search Volume for Arma 2 almost as high like at release year: DayZ Search Volume only since May 20 2012: And this is hilarious......Battleye, the anti cheat software for Arma 2. Look at the date when a massive search did arise.

Seems like the latest Battleye bans did struck the very heart of the hacks. Really good news and great job ! Some comments I did read from those who got hit by it: "Hey guys, just got Global Banned, guess I'll be slowing down on the scripting, lol." "and it bans everyone who has recently mod-apped. F***." "F*** yourself, Bohemia Interactive. I get banned from your combat simulator just for screwing around in a GAME MOD? Im not paying Bohemia a single fucking cent more for their shit they hand me. I hope there will be a fix for this other than buying a new key" "Im jewing on those f******. They brick my copy because i mod-app their little game mod? Fuck bohemia interactive and Day Z team, im not giving them any more cash." "I'm kinda with you on that front, man. It seems they've forgotten that it is a mod and was never declared an "official" Arma addon. I would go on the forum and suggest they go f*** themselves or try to get it repealed. Sorry you got globaled. EDIT: How about instead of complaining, we get new keys and crash every server in existence?" "A global ban will mean any server running battleye your now banned from (if you were caught, or if that matters)" "too many ppl in this community are just dumb retards with a tiny ego who jerk off when they bomb a whole server to oblivion. these guys are real losers, nothing more. dumb fucked up script kiddies."

Can we stop the CoD/BF3 name calling?
moxrox replied to shadowvfx's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually I welcome all players from COD or BF3 or any game, because the Arma series vets or those who did even start playing Operation Flashpoint actually did come from shooters aswell. A steady learning process and a change of your taste for game types exists over the years and it is always good to check out other ones, Iam sure a part of the shooter crowd will find their love with the simulation genre like those who did find it already more early. -
Cheater Name - Permaphrost
moxrox replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Seems like permaphrost got banned...case ad acta http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?135925-Why-am-I-suddenly-banned-from-everything&p=2172115#post2172115 -
You have to contact Battleye.com, since Dayz doesnt do the bans.

I know, actually we dont have Bandits anymore but I still use the term. We are talking too much from the view of survivors, in this case from people who love to communicate with other players and who dont like the whole deathmatch gameplay currently. Well, lets have a look at the other side. Imagine you are a Bandit, maybe you are even playing in a group. You are on of those who open fire on sight, avoiding any risk not to die ingame. Actually the game offers not enough here and the gameplay is too easy when you play this role in DayZ. There is no consequence, no penalty and not a big risk if you group up with the aim to roll all players you encounter ingame. Iam missing more excitement here, so certain engagements have also consequences for the single player or the group. There has to be some content why you would avoid a conflict...just to get more thrill into the gameplay and more long term motivation.

I would love to see random loot in DayZ and not fixed positions for certain high end gear. This would avoid loot camping including people who are logging off and on just to check if the spawn refreshed. Loot maps would be aswell not needed, which actually take away a big part of the game: exploring. People dont get gear quickly back just after a list, all in all I think the game would be more interesting and demanding. Would be random loot possible in DayZ ?

The Life of a "Bandit" is......too easy.
moxrox replied to moxrox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually I have the feeling that those who give such comments are not thinking big and are just fixed on their ego. At the end for all gameplay styles some kind of challenge should exist. At the moment the biggest challange is actually trust and communication, wheras killing is just more simple. When a single one or maybe a group encounter other players, they are unstoppable almost if they are playing good. But there is the thrill missing actually, in form of a consequence and why you would maybe avoid to attack another player. To those who are looking into trust and communication there is a certain consquence and thrill always around....we all know what kind of. -
I think for an Arma 2 mod 29.99 is a good price, but not more since a lot of things are missing which you get with the core game. It depends also what the game offers and how much more content the mod in multiplayer will deliver, will there be anything else except only Dayz online ? Any campaign, missions ? Editor ?

Honestly if the game world would be not that big, I would not play it....just imagine 50 people on a map like in COD or BF3, this would be insane and not fun.

[Question] Is random loot possible ?
moxrox replied to moxrox's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well for me the excitement of the game slows down after you know where you find gear you are looking for. The unknown, the exploring is actually besides other things what people pushes in the game...to find better loot at the end. If you know the positions for it, the excitement to find something is lost. -
@Fabis94 There is another important tip, which I actually recommand to everyone ! Go and play some multiplayer rounds with the original Arma 2 game modes, this will help you to see from what distance people are actually attacking, how weapons perform and it will help you a lot aswell to survive in DayZ. You get a lot more practice with weapons and an overview. Some player just jump into DayZ, doing not even the boot camp of the game or any offline/mutliplayer missions. Really...do this.

We should open a thread about hacking. -

The authors are actually those talented ones who are into programming, starting as a hobby and maybe doing it later for a career helping to develope security software. What I dont get is why they feed people who are only consuming and not doing any projects. -
This is quiete amazing, photos from real places vs Arma 2 ingame more village views (Staroye comparison is great)

The majority of the Arma 2 community had always a higher average age than in other games, thats the reason not many hackers were around. In addition it is a niche game since the masses dont play simulation games, Dayz beeing more and more attractive to the masses draws attention to those who love to hack. The issue is that only one hacker can destroy the fun for all players on one server since they invest a lot of time for their characters. This is even a bigger impact than in other game modes playing Arma 2. -

What I want to say is that Arma 2 isnt in alpha state and since DayZ is just a mod it is using the same anti-cheat protection. It seems it is a core problem. -

But this effects not only DayZ, the core game Arma 2 aswell...isnt it.
