So, this is a fairly straight forward question. Where on earth do people learn to code mods/games like this? I have a reasonable understanding of computers, i can build and understand how to change stuff in windows etc. But i wouldnt have the first clue how to even begin writing this mod, or more importantly where to go to learn. Is it something people have been to uni to learn, or just picked up over time? Can someone point me in the right direction as to where to begin! -Try to find friendly players via skype etc etc. Your much more powerfull with another player watching your back. Have fun :D This is probably turf best piece of advice you will get. I played line wolf for a while and it is tough, and honestly can get a little boring (my opinion, I'm sure others prefer it). You are also much safer! Have a look in the clan recruitment section of General Discussion for some people to team up with. There are people playing most mods of the mod. Good luck!

So, quite apart from the topic title I love this game but need a buddy to play with. I'm a 29 yr old bloke with a decent grasp of the game, headset and Mic combo so you can hear me and I can hear you. I guess I would like to team up with someone if a similar age. I noticed one bug the other day. When you are partially knocked over by a Z I was forced to stand up again but then couldn't move, I had change my stance in order to move again.

So after a number of likes for posts i have put on this forum i thought i would eventually create this thread. Basically its use is for you to upload you system specs, settings in game, with a FRAPS or DXTORY screenshot of your FPS. This isn't to brag but make new players able to see what actual FPS they can expect from the rigs they have. I realise there are many different possibilities but the more we get the better this thread will become. This is the basic format i think it could take, though i am open to suggestions as i realise there are loads of settings in game! Spec: CPU- make, model and what ghz its running at. Also how many cores/threads GPU- Make and model, ghz its running at (have YOU overclocked above manufacturer specs) RAM- How much and what mhz is it running at and is it DDR2/3 or whatever else you may have???? Hard drive- Not sure how much difference this actually makes but it may show some vaguely scientific data to show where an SSD actually improves FPS over HDD Screen & Resolution- 1920x1080 etc Settings: This is the big one to discuss. To begin with i would just suggest linking two pictures of settings and FPS I suggest that we use either FRAPS or DXTORY to take the screen shots of settings and FPS. Now i realise that FPS varies greatly from where you are stood and players on server. Last server restart, zombies etc Therefore please make reference to variables in your post Variables: Players- How many? Zombies- Depending on whether there are debug monitors in your server Last server restart- If known, ask a server admin for confirmation where possible. Where do i take my screen shot from? Open for discussion this one. Sniper hill? Somewhere inside cherno? My suggestion would be looking into cherno to test out the graphics card as much as possible, but post your pictures and we will see what type of results we get then make a final decision. Finding a chopper to fly around is going to be tough. But I for one would be interested to see exactly what fps droop you get. Get some fraps screenshots up dude. Ta Makin

I like the idea about cherno. I had left the country side out, as realistically if you have playable fps in cherno you will have decent fps in the country thus making it un necessary to double your work load. Just a thought :)

Thanks Diddums. One really important point I just realised I forgot, view distance. I would suggest setting to 1600 as common consensus is this is the max dayz runs at. Ps I've just discovered my graphics card is bust, insert many expletives. It's nearly pay day so when I have a new graphics card I will post my settings. Please however get posting yours. Thanks

So I'm building a rig that will eventually be able to run two msi 670s. What do people suggest. So far I have thought about corsair tx 750m (£90) or I have haggled a guy down to £100 for a corsair ax 750. What are peoples opinions, are there any other suggestions people have. Thanks

I'll just add that from a research point of view this a very interesting thread. Gives us an idea what, probably the best card out there, can do in this game. Perhaps we as a community need to get some kind of standard for testing and reporting our performance in game. It would provide some genuine feedback in how game tweeks can work and also link in with the can I run it page. Makin

Codestargod your mean. Ignore him dude, he will snipe you from the hill on the outskirts. Nasty bandit you (waving index finger as saying it) My suggestion is go and explore. That's part of the experience. Find you favorite loot runs. Little nuggets will start coming your way and you will be sooooo much more exited funding them on your own than following a guide, at least that's my opinion, others may vary. Yep. Public servers save your gear so you can reload on them. Private servers do the same but you can only load gear from that server, no swapsies. Solution- constant play on public Constant play in private. Have both and play which ever you fancy that day. Good luck and happy surviving!

Check out hunteering on YouTube. Guts called 6mm hunters do somethin very similar in airsoft. It looks intense.

Arma is majorly CPU intensive. Look at building something around an Intel i5 3570k/ i7 3770k or AMD 8350. If I'm honest 400 is going to be a struggle. Try looking on Gumtree for a second hand one. There are some decent rigs around for not massive cash. Also YouTube is your friend. I knew nothing last year, and now I am building for everyone!

Hello all. So, having watched a live stream of arma 3 yesterday I saw the work of a particularly skilled helicopet pilot. Sadly, at the moment, I am not a very skilled pilot. It was mentioned by viewers of the stream that the pilot was probably using a joystick to fly with. So to my question. Can I link a joystick to solely control my heli flying within dayz/arma 2 and leave my poor attempts at flying using my keyboard in the dim and distant past? I will say I have done some homework and cannot find a response on this forum that helps. If others can I apologies and please would you link. Thanks.
