I'm assuming this is zero fucks given and I should just respawn/restart my month old char? :(

Was playing on 1.5.6 server when everyone got teleported to one place in the ocean (southwest of kamenka) I disconnected and tried another server, and first got a player with no inventory *at all*. Tried another server, and now I was swimming alone in the middle of the ocean. What do? Phil

If the spirit of the game is something other than survival, then yes :)

I will not kill you if I don't consider you a threat. A threat means the encounter has 50/50 of ending in my death. In dayz, almost everybody is a threat, no matter what they say. I don't like being a bandit, so I try to stay alone as long as possible (or play with IRL friends) 'nuff said

Muting people affects VOIP. (If you couldn't mute people, I just wouldn't play the mod as it would be unplayabe) Muting people does not affect chat, which is what the OP is about

You will be unable to shoot back in time because your weapon was lowered, and by the you stop moving, get your weapon up, and line up a shot (as opposed to heeding the warning shot and running for your life) you will be dead.

+1 At the very least, make it possible for client to choose to disable chat display

I'm on my 2nd life, been playing for about a month. I do play with a group of people I know in real life. Otherwise, the risk is too great. If you read carefully, you will see I am not advocating "just start shooting everyone."

Observed a lone survivor at the north east airport. He was alternating between sneaking and running around, and eventually had too many zombies on him. He killed most of them, and then ran away. I made my approach, collected all the loot from everywhere, and left. My only violent encounter was a frag + single-tap on two military zombies. The bozo before me had done all the dirty work ;)

That makes no sense (unless you're talking about hollywood movies)

Name is Phil, go by Phil. I am generally stalking/following players, observing their behaviour, and staying undetected. I have been playing since it was being tested on a single server in NZ. I am on my second life, having needlessly died once to a zombie horde. I follow the golden rule.

* Food, Meds, Weapons, in that order * ALWAYS stick to trees/concealment unpredictably * NEVER EVER be seen or heard, stop only with your back to something solid * Heres the hard part: if made and approached by a player that you don't personally know in real life, shoot him. If player is approaching with weapon lowered and you don't need to kill him, you may fire a single warning shot near him first, and be prepared to kill him with the next shot. edit: To clarify: the above is a survivor guide. I define survival as not dying. If you define survival as dying a bunch of times and respawning and learning from those mistakes, then this guide is not for you.

Requests * After killing a zombie, use their innards twd style so zombies don't detect you at all for x seconds as long as you are walking. * Bulletproof vests as found item (or craft using scrap metal/windshield) protect against player/bandit attack, but not against zombies * Maps too hard to find. Currently lots of players are just going to google images instead * Ability for players to scribble notes on empty cans/trash that is lying around everywhere, or some other way to mimic "geocaching" notes * Player-context-sensitive loot? If doesn't have food, more luck to find food. If doesn't have maps, more luck to find maps... etc * Gear should never drop when swimming * Bolts easier to remove from body (if body falls on top of bolt... can't remove) so maybe just put it in the body's inventory? * Please, for the love of zombie brains, turn off global/side chat, or have ability to mute it client-side
