    The Terrible Twosome

excuse the longness..I like giving context So I had already been playing for a couple of hours and was as geared as I wanted to be - SKS, ammo, food, Gorka's etc and a nice shiny new riot helmet and black face mask. I was around at Nizhoye when my brother spawns up at the ship so I head North to pick him up. (I'm over at his then so we're basically playing right next to each other) I gave him my spare Gorka's and a longhorn plus ammunition, and we head South looting Berezino on the way. There's about 18 people in the server so I expect to at least see a person or two. Anyways there we are heading South down the coast and I reluctantly drop a payday 2 Dallas mask in the warehouse at Nizhoye. It's quiet and uneventful all the way to Electro and we briefly discuss how we are going to to about heading in. At this stage I should tell you that I am more of the cautious, scope the perimeter type of player between us, so I am thinking of flanking on the left along the coast. My brother on the other hand, he takes the less subtle approach. With the 'tally-ho', no prisoners approach firmly burned into his head, and in a split second he's off and running along the main road through the town with gun in hand, and I am convinced I can hear random Orc snorts and cries of "man-flesh" over the mic. So I am forced to cut closer to the middle, though the houses and get up behind the wall to the side of the Police Station. I look towards the school and can see a soldier on the top with a rifle. Some shots ring out, my brother yells he's hit. I panic and skirt around the houses to make sure no one is on my position. I get back to my spot at the police station and its all quiet, except my brother now is bandaging and talking to someone. Talking to who?? Eventually I man up and skirt around the side and make my way closer to the school and he's only just befriended a fully geared guy with an SKS. Eventually it becomes apparent that Mr Whitman is his buddy also, and for the next twenty seconds of what happened is what I can only describe is two pairs of geared people in close proximity doing the awkward 'not so apparently obvious' zigzag motions in case any heavy stuff goes down. After some moments, I'm on the street with Mr Whitman's sks buddy infront of me, and we're just shooting the breeze and letting ourselves calm down after what was nearly a four way standoff. My bro is up on the roof of the school with Mr Whitman. It's all pretty sedate and friendly right now. This is good. BANG something happens and Mr sks crashes to the floor in a lifeless heap right in front of my feet. CRAP! what?! SOMEONES SHOOTING! I duck and weave, basically do my best to avoid imminent ruination! Then I hear it....my brother cackling in fits of hysteria like some deranged maniac - he killed him! He's hollowed his melon with a shot from the Longhorn I gave him! Mr Whitman is not stupid, and before my bro knows what's happened he's down the ladders and disappeared off somewhere. This isnt good. Befriending and then letting a guy go is a bit tactless, and right now I am inviting a rogue mosin shot onto my own melon so I am off and back around the police station area to get eyes on Mr Whitman. After a minute, my bro - who, in all his infinite wisdom decides to stay on the roof of the school - receives a hit. Somehow a second shot manages not to hit him, and I am zeroing in on the position. Sniper hill. Then it happens, he gets the fatal bullet. He's gone - and he brought this on himself really, so if I was any other person I could duck out right now and wouldnt feel bad about it. But im not just anyone, Im his brother. And even if your bro invites death upon himself, he's still my bro so I decide this Mr Whitman, he's got to go. After doing my best James Brolin impression and take my axe to a zombies neck, I am up on the hill in a matter of seconds. And there is Mr Whitman, lying under a tree still looking towards the school roof. Noob mistake - always relocate. A burst from my SKS puts him down and I tell him that is for killing my brother. It felt good, to get that revenge. My bro spawns in - back at the ship again. I huff for a second, then start the lonely journey north again. So it's now about an hour or so since I was last up here, and as I get to Nizhoye, I'm running up along the waters edge and I see a zombie and something...orange... in the beach up ahead, just next to the silver warehouse. I take care of El Deadhead, and look to see there is a poor dead new spawn with a rather tatty orange raincoat on his back. But wait, what's that he's wearing - wait, thats... MY DALLAS MASK! and he's lying dead not ten feet from where I dropped it! And I think to myself. "at least he died with a smile on his face"

The switch from console to PC

Good evening one and all, On the 28th I shall be ordering my first ever gaming pc. Up until now I have blindly wandered in the shadows of console gaming. Forgive me for my sins, etc and so forth. It really is all BF3's fault. I have saved up all my pennies and am spending a hefty chunk of lettuce on getting this PC. The primary motivation behind wanting one is simply...DayZ. Thanks to the videos of Frankie, Jackfrags, BRT TRP and the likes of such calibre gamers...you have induced me with an unwavering need to own and play this game. As of the 28th, phase one of my plan will be complete. Phase 2 - download and play DayZ will initiate and drop my innocent Xbox soul into the harsh and unforgiving reality of this incredible looking game. I would like to say your forum looks great, and will no doubt be of much help to me in my first tentative steps into Chernarus. For me, the shift to PC seems almost cosmological and I am a little nervous, but also anxious to get started. If anyone has any tips or advice they could give to me as a non pc player, it would be greatly appreciated. Goose

Does Dayz use up a lot of Internet?

Conclusion: UPGRADEZ TO BT UNLIMITED ;) £25 set up fee, WTF?

Does Dayz use up a lot of Internet?

n00b calculations based on googling: 1024mb = 1 GB. I read that DayZ can use between 30 - 100 mb per hour realistically. Based on 100mb per hour you are looking at the following: 1024 * 40 = 40960mb 40960 / 100m = 409. 409 hours worth of DayZ gaming per month (13hours per day based on 30 days and a 40GB DATA PLAN), based on my super duper mathematical proof. Of course you need to take into account the fact that Arma CO and Dayz themselves are a good few Gigs of data themselves. Hope this helps = Goose

Does Dayz use up a lot of Internet?

I have BT Infinity broadband and there are basically three options with BT: 1. 10GB monthly usage (vanilla Broadband) 2. BT "Infinity" (which is capped to 40GB a month, which is what I have) 3. BT Unlimited (pretty much self explanatory) If you only use your internet for browsing and gaming and hardly and downloads - 40GB should be enough for DayZ (say five hours a day = 35 hpw) I have never been notified or charged extra for monthly usage with my current set up.
